I have the Apple One Premier plan, shared with my girlfriend. Obviously I’m not happy about every damned subscription raising prices, but this burns less than all the video streaming services jacking prices while
cutting content.

I wonder what the breaking point will be. The argument used to be if you can afford a cup of coffee at Starbucks, you can afford a streaming service. Say you wanted to get at least 3 of the streaming services. Now you are approaching what Cable used to be and what services like Youtube TV are now. Yes you can go month to month, it's still getting expensive. I probably will still get Apple TV+ because For All Mankind will still be airing when I have to renew, but none of these companies are doing a price decrease and I don't think they ever will. There will come a breaking point where people are like screw this and go back to the thing we shouldn't talk about.

Apple must have a really good local back up system in place when the phone is on the same network as a sleeping Mac right?

And of course Photos on the Mac will send a new photo to my wife’s iPhone every morning too. Yes?

So,... Either you are still buying CDs or you only listen to very old music. Assuming you are not a dinosaur, still listening only to oldies then the cost of a few CDs a month is more than the cost of Apple Music.

Actually, I do know someone like this. He is pretty much stuck in the late '70s and early '80s and listens to the same 20 or 40 hits from that era, over and over and over again. Someone like that really has no need for subscriptions.

I've got a year of free Apple music because I bought both a Homepod and a Mac. I may just buy one or more new Homepods. They work well with Homekit. I might never have to actually buy a music subscription
I still buy CD's when an artist gets my attention. I prefer tangible assets, so hard copies are first choice. I am not a dinosaur, and even if I was buying a few CD's per month, I prefer this to paying for an ongoing subscription to 'lease' content.

The entire world doesn't move along a 'cool' timeline ranging from today to <2 years ago, but we've all been teenagers, and teenagers typically buy current day stuff to bop out to whilst smearing their faces with anti-acne chemicals and spending hours on the phone with the same people they've just spent all day at school with.

Music content is like cars; there's very few classics rolling off the production line today which will be revered in 50 years time.

I use my iPhone to store and play music because it is a:
  • Widescreen ipod with touch controls
  • Revolutionary mobile phone
  • Breakthrough internet communicator
No subscriptions needed.

I'm still annoyed Apple sent me a 1 month free Apple One offer but charged me anyway. The support guy insisted they send them to everyone regardless of if you are eligible or not (Why? Aren't Apple's developer's capable of targeting emails?). Everything on the email, even the small print, implied I could use it.

I'm beginning to think Apple don't have a clue what they are doing.

While Arcade showed a lot of promise, the selection of good games is tiny and hardly increasing.
Apple TV also has a couple of good shows, but nothing compared to other services.
I tried Fitness+ but as I'm English, I couldn't handle the cheesiness.
HomeKit Secure Video is terrible as well.

I'm very tempted to just cancel all my Apple services and go with alternatives such as Spotify etc.

I enjoy ATV+ but not for the increased price. Just switched to the yearly subscription for the regular price before the increase so I at least have another year on the regular price before the increase.

100% compared to sep 22 for ATV+

this. I was €49.99 in February. My renewal in February 2024 will be €99.99. Or rather it wont as ill be cancelling then maybe for a month every 6 months ill renew and binge whats appeared. I think the quality of Appletv+ is excellent, but often i go a month or two with nothing to watch, so i can easily binge everything in two months a year.

I guess I got lucky as I never subscribed to any of the services. Never did the free previews and never thought much of the services. Love the apple devices but the services I have no idea as I never subscribed

I think I will cancel my Apple One and just only take Apple Music. That is the only one that I actually use on a daily basis.

I expected this when these streaming services first started. The initial pull for streaming services was you buy what you need at a low price which would save you a ton of money to allow you to cut the cord. At the time you could add a bunch of different services and still be ahead. I remember when Youtube TV started at at around $35, now it double the price.

It's gotten to the point where going back to cable might be the cheaper option.

D'oh! That's the last time Apple gives MacRumours a heads-up on software release dates.

having used trials of apple news “+”

i never understood why they push it when it still has distracting advertisements

makes me not want to use it reliably

Gosh, saving even more money I never spent in the first place.

Don't need the streaming equivalent of the banal coffee-table book ..., oh, and the drivel that is Ted Lasso ...
