No, it's not fraud. I just tried to make a phone call to 911, but it failed with a finger touch on the antenna. I will file the complaint.

Did you find another way to call 911 or did you post the problem on the forum first?

So you want to FCC to have AT&T shut down the iPhone because I might not be able to make a 911 call? So my iPhone won't work and my wife can't call me because it might not be able to make a call to 911. My work phone doesn't work all the time too, should I contact the FCC also to have Verizon shut it down because I might not be able to call 911 also?
My iPhone works and I have ZERO issues with it, and so does my wife's iPhone why should it be shut down?

Yes this is a forum where we can share your feelings as many have. There are about a billion threads about reception now and I have stayed away from most of them until this one. Asking people to report to the FCC about the problem and hoping to have sales of the phone stop and all "in the wild" shut down, that was just to much for me.

I like to call it "escalation of force".

Step 1) Complain to Apple
Reaction: Apple denies a problem

Step 2) Complain on Forums
Reaction: Apple denies but says if problem hold differently

Step 3) Return iPhone
Reaction: Apple gladly takes iPhone 4 back to refurbish and pass along to another unsuspecting schmuck.

Step 4) File Class Action Lawsuit or File FCC complaint

Apple started this whole mess by denying a problem, trying to sell a rubber band at full retail to hide the problem, deny the problem some more, and so on.

I am not going to stop even if I have to go to Android forums and beg Android users to file an FCC complaint against Apple for "Deceptive or Unlawful Advertising".

My iPhone4 works just fine. Maybe it's the network in and around where I live, who knows, but it works and I like it.

LOL @ file FCC complaint. Worst. thread. ever.

Just wait until somebody is unable to complete a 911 call from their iPhone and is robbed/raped/murdered.

Hopefully Steve Jobs and his team of engineers will rot in prison for criminal negligence.

Good post OP, I put my complaint it and encourage all others to do the same.

Wow, talk about hyperbole.

This thread really gives the impression of a bunch of teenage girls having a hissy fit.

Seriously people, if you feel the phone is truly a danger to you so much so that you cannot make a phone call, return the thing and buy something that will stop that evil nasty robber from robbing you.

And not everyone who ate a "Jack in the Box" hamburger died, but the ones who did had a real complaint.

Absolutely. But is it wrong for the millions of other people to enjoy their Jack in the Box burgers?

Life will never be perfect. It's not worth getting yourself all worked up about. You returned your iPhone, good for you (seriously, because most are just talk), but move on my friend.

Technically speaking, their families had a complaint.

Those who died were, in fact, dead. A state of being which is not particularly conducive to having a complaint, let alone anything else.

I apologize. I didn't know you were doing the lords work and keeping us all safe. Your selflessness (is that a word) is obvious.
Why are you so pissed at apple man? There are a lot of moving parts to the whole deal. Is their silence on the matter annoying? Yes but in todays world they can't say anything without exposing themselves to a huge lawsuit, much like the one you are proposing. It could be as simple a fix as it was to fix the Griswalds christmas lights. Let them sort it out

Nah, what happens if you're being murdered in an area with no AT&T coverage? You think all the AT&T executives are going to goto jail?

That is so nice of you to be soo concerned about the health and safety of the people. But instead of protesting a phone based on an extremely weak scenario.
Spend your time trying to feed the hungry, find work for the unemployed, Or maybe take on this F'in OIL SPILLas a cause!!!!!!!! I mean if there was ever a public safety issue it is that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So many bigger issues in life than worrying about the iPhone 4.

I never understand this type of post.

hehe, but everyone was deprived of their Jack in the Box burgers until the problem was found and eradicated.

I understand your asking me to drop it and move on. Let me try to explain. I love the iPhone 4, it is by far the best device I have ever owned. It just will not make phone calls.

I was forced to return it despite my drooling over it as I handed it back to the Apple store employee. I want the thing fixed. Apple has repeatedly denied that there is a problem, have shown no indication that they are working on a fix.

I want my iPhone 4 back, working, and will go to extreme lengths to force Apple to admit the problem and fix it.

are you 13? Id like to see how you can blame the cell phone when someone is getting raped. Lets bypass the criminal and really get down to the truth. It's Apples fault she got raped. She had the Iphone 4 and was just asking for it.

You seem like Gagoots here on the board... shift the blame

Thats a great idea...encourage people to falsely file claims to the FCC about Iphones not being able to dial 911 when they dont even have them. You are running in circles trying to win a race against yourself.

I don't know why this suddenly is a problem for the iPhone 4 when the 3GS iPhone has this exact same problem. Where are the people filing complaints about that phone?

For the first time in one year, I took my 3GS out of it's case and started using it. When I hole it in the exact way Steve warns to not hold the iPhone 4, it too loses all bars and can't do a thing. I just never noticed it during this entire year because it's always been in a case.

This complaint garbage makes no sense to me since obviously this problem has existed for at least the past year on the 3GS.

Please read. I said "Deceptive or Unlawful Advertising" in the post you quoted. I have not, nor will I, ask anyone to file a fraudulent claim.

It is easy to file an on-line complaint with the FCC, just go to this website:

http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm

Use the radio buttone to select "Wireless Telephone", on the next page select "Problems completing a 911 call from your wireless phone", on the next page click on "Online Form" at the top left of the yellow box. This will open the complaint form so follow on from there. When you are done, tell everyone you know who is having this problem to file a complaint. Post it in every thread about the iPhone 4 reception issues.

It is obvious that you have a problem completing a 911 call if you pick up your phone and it loses signal, so there is truth stretching going on.

edit: Some think that it is wrong to say that it really is a problem with 911 if you have not attempted it, I disagree in that you can't even attempt it if you hold the phone wrong. If you feel that way then pick the "Deceptive or unlawful advertising" button instead.

Nice try everybody. But the FCC doesn't consider reception issues relevant to 911. When it comes to that particular item you're going to get a form letter response in about 30 days that says your complaint doesn't qualify.

Basically that item only applies issues that occur after the signal has been received at the tower. And if you think about it, that makes sense, otherwise they'd be flooded by anybody who has every lived or traveled in a rural area. And sat through a bad storm, etc. etc.

Oh I forgot, Don't forget in the comments section to ask the FCC to decertify the iPhone 4.

edit: This will do two things if they decertify it. It will force Apple to stop selling them and force AT&T to turn the service off to the phones in the wild.

Why would they decertify something they certified? Please tell me you don't work for NASA.

Did some sort of trauma happen to you? I'm not trying to be rude but you are being really insistent about this reporting to the FCC. Were you trying to call 911 and couldn't make the call? Did someone die in front of you because of this? I mean you are bringing up all of these scenarios that you want us to imagine where someone we love will be gushing copious amounts of blood and dying before our eyes. I'm just a little confused where this stems from.

I never understand this type of post.

Whats so hard to understand? jfyrfytr25 is pointing out that it's pretty silly to get so worked up over a small hunk of metal, plastic, and glass when there are many actual real problems in the world that could benefit from kresh's time and energy.

I think it was a kinder way of telling the OP to get over it and do something useful his/her time?
