How's your battery life looking so far?

How are you getting 15 hours playing games do you have any special settings? Do u use iCloud music please let me know. That's the type of battery I'm looking for

Mate, he was playing Angry Birds for 2% of the time. You don't get 16 hours by playing games. There will be some rrrreal light use there, especially when coupled with the long standby time. A 6S+ owner will get roughly 8-10 hours from one charge if they use their phone pretty heavily. I had the 6+ last year too so have experience with two of these phones.

Yup!

Here's a page from Apple UK that no longer exists, but can be seen on archive.org

Be careful; going through "one charge cycle per month" does not mean draining the battery until your device dies and then charging it again. You can go through a 100% charge cycle over several days of discharging and charging again, as Apple notes here (emphasis mine):

Charge your Apple lithium-ion battery whenever you want. There’s no need to let it discharge 100% before recharging. Apple lithium-ion batteries work in charge cycles. You complete one charge cycle when you’ve used (discharged) an amount that equals 100% of your battery’s capacity — but not necessarily all from one charge. For instance, you might use 75% of your battery’s capacity one day, then recharge it fully overnight. If you use 25% the next day, you will have discharged a total of 100%, and the two days will add up to one charge cycle. It could take several days to complete a cycle.

Yeah on average i'm getting

12-13 hours usage
24-26 hours standby

so very happy with that

I guess clash of clans actually increases and adds to your battery life! Who would have known. I bet its an in app purchase too. $4.99 add 1000mah to your battery

Look how long he played clash of clans though

I find my 6s Plus battery life pretty dreadful really. It drops more rapidly than my year old 6 Plus. And it gets MUCH warmer under normal use than my 6 Plus ever did.

Battery life and heat are my two major complaints.

(TSMC A9, here, to add fuel to that fire)
Does your whole device heat up or one certain area?

This is a good caveat to provide, Pete. I had read that too. But it's really hard to keep track of thinking of it that way. A full depletion, by several Apple Geniuses, I've consulted about this is anything that brings the battery to under 5% (over any period of time - as you point out there). It's this 'full depletion' that is necessary from your phone out of the box and was 'once recommended' by Apple (still is when you talk to Geniuses) once a month to keep your battery reading properly.

So I think you and I have both moderated our position from a few posts back. I was wrong to say - run your battery all the way until it shuts off. And you were wrong to say that ANY of this 'calibration stuff' was ancient news from Nickel Cadmium days.

What's best for people to do as a matter of course - is to - IF you notice your battery only charging to 99% - or staying abnormally long at like 78% or 21% -- any weirdness -- it's time to 're-calibrate' by bringing your battery, through normal usage, down to under 5% (I've seen some say to under 25% - but Apple Geniuses say under 5%) and then do a full charge (some say WHILE NOT USING phone).. And your battery meter readout should then discharge more normally and evenly on its readout.

Good discussion!

lol...well, I'm not quite ready to concede the point but in the long run I don't really care how people want to manage their batteries; if it makes you feel better to discharge your battery to 5% and charge it up again go for it. One thing I do agree on: good discussion.

Maybe it has been already been mentioned and forgive me if it has but is anyone doing a full charge and discharge upon receiving the phone? I didn't but was curious what everyone's thoughts are regarding this.

well, after I see all attachment here about their battery life everyone almost the same pattern, "phone" usage is very low, seems like a lot off usage came from apps or games.

is this still a phone, a mobile phone?

I didn't see the top part of his stats in your quote, just the lower part. Really though, the battery life people are getting depends on their own personal usage patterns, the network they're on, the strength of their signal, the state of their backup/if they're using one at all, and what settings they have toggled on their phones. There are so many variables. Usage times on the 6+ and 6S+ on average is around 10 hours. Any more than that and lighter usage patterns are being employed. Much over 12 hours and we're talking lighter & lighter use with screen off for large periods of time, ie listening to music.

O come on.. You know you had no idea that a modern LiON battery would benefit from ANY regular calibration until you read Apple's article from the UK.. Admit it.. :).. I tend loving to be a 'myth buster' on these forums too.. but you need to be really studied up or you get caught with egg on your face. That's why I'm really careful to use the term 'Battery meter calibration' - and never use the term 'conditioning' which is what hasn't been necessary for more than a decade.

Nice post i would also amend that in most cases calibration is prob more 2-3 months not every month

I still don't believe that Apple products need any kind of "calibrating"; I did know and have never denied that LiOn batteries need to be used and not left on a charger for months on end, but that's to avoid damaging the battery and has nothing to do calibrating the battery meter AFAIK. But again, whatever floats your boat!

Over the years I have definitely noticed that the battery meters needs 'calibrating'. Over time batteries can start dying at 4% (for example) but if you calibrate the meter occasionally they will still go all the way down to 1%. I run my batteries down until the device switches itself off at least once a month and never run into any problems.

My 6s is way better than my iPhone 6. I would get a solid 7 hours on my iPhone 6 and was happy with that. I got 10 hours out of my 6s yesterday and had 20% left. That's with restoring from an iCloud backup, indexing and repairing my Apple Watch.
Same here. My 6S is noticeably better than my 6 ever was. How amazing despite the smaller battery.

Well you can 'believe' what you want, Pete. But intelligent people respond to empirical evidence, bro. And empirical evidence exists for the need for occasional calibration. And I believe you to be an 'intelligent' person. So modify your beliefs, bro. ;)

Last charge:
Little over 4hr usage
Little over 88hrs standby
OS 9.1 Public Beta 2
6S
We need screenshots as proof, ZipZap. We can't just take a person's word for it when they post something that seems too amazing. I believe 88 hours of standby CAN BE possible if you barely touch your phone and put it in Airplane mode when it's just sitting in your pocket. But always provide a screenshot as proof on a thread like this.
