I'm really disappointed with the battery life on my 6S so far. I'm coming from a 6+ where I was used to never dropping below 30% at the end of the day. Obviously I'm not going to have the awesome battery life on a 6S that I'd have on a 6S+. I'm trying to decide which I enjoy more - the ease of use / portability / one-handed-ness of the 6S or if the longer battery in the 6S+ would be better. I've got until October 15th I believe to return the 6S and I've only had it a few days so far. Hoping the battery break in period is over by now.

I can say for sure though that playing a game of HEARTHSTONE just destroys the battery on the 6S which is a shame :/

First one Samsung, this one TMSC. I'm pretty sure that has nothing to do with it though. I've probably just got a poor battery, I mean the lifeblood of the phone only costs Apple a few dollars and I'm sure some are better than others.
So samsung had better battery life.... Hmmm.. Which is diffrent than peeps here complaining

we are in the exact same circumstance. I have both here. I'm just not sure I can get used to that extra weight and the loss of one hand operation. But boy do I love the extra battery life. I'm pretty much settled on sending the 6S+ back on Friday. Going to go with 6S. Just can't get used to the size change after a year of a 6. But my 6S battery life is looking pretty good today!

Are you expecting Apple to gradually increase the 4.7" iPhone in size so that you can get used to a bigger phone? I went from an iPhone 5 to a 6+ and yes it was a big change but you get used to it. After 10 months with the 6+ did I drop down in size to the 6S? No, I bought the 6S+. Having a smaller phone there to compare to isn't helping matters. You just bite the bullet and crack on with the bigger one *if* you want the larger screen, higher resolution and increased battery life. If you don't need those things or if one handed use is of extreme importance then get the i6.

My 6S battery tested much better than my brothers 6S, you can guess why...

He is not happy. :p

I put my 6s 16gb on the charger every night at 10.00 pm and take if off and midnight and when I put it back on the following night I have about 35% or more left and that's with moderate use, So I would say I'm getting great life out of it

Battery usage is looking great on the 'S' iPhone's. I think my 6+ is still doing pretty good for now. I do a lot of streaming on my iPhone... so I don't feel a need to upgrade yet. Still satisfied with my battery efficiency for my normal everyday usage... plus I'm still jailbroken... :p

UPDATE: After my 1st full charging cycle on my 6S 128gb, these are the results. Entered low power mode around 30%. I am pretty happy with this phone's battery performance. In theory, the battery should improve over the next few charging cycles. I will only be happier if that is the case. I listened to a good deal of music over Bluetooth in the truck, played a couple of Hearthstone rounds, and browsed Reddit, Instagram, and other websites moderately throughout the day. Unplugged at 8:30AM, plugged in around 9:30PM.

Regular 6S, not the Plus??

You have not put it in charge, not even a little bit?

Those are impressive results!!
If it had been on charger a message would appear in that window that "iPhone has been plugged in since last full charge"..
But a "troll" could easily Photoshop that line out if they wanted to mess with us..

I'm on my 2nd cycle of battery on my 6S today.. So let me see what kind of results I get.

I feel the person who showed 110 hours of standby on 6S Plus the other day and the 6S at 97 hours standby are either "messing with us" or they just don't touch their phones much and must leave their LTE and 3G data transmitters turned off by engaging Airplane mode or Cell data off.

Nobody who "really" uses their phone like a normal person will get those results. And in the endgame its about "usage time". Not standby time.

Just got my new Gold 6S , at 6 % battery i am at 5 hours 30 min usage , 40 hours standby.
I charged last time two days ago in the evening.
My old 6 had a record of 6 hours and half....so i see about one hour drop in battery life with same setup (everything is on except bluetooth that i don't use).

Indeed! I wish they were my 6S results, because after about 4-5 cycles I think I've decided I need to return the phone. I have to say, it's disappointing to see such variances in battery life between the same models less than two weeks after release, especially when you consider Apple's decision to include smaller batteries in the S models this year. I had faith that iOS 9 and low power mode would compensate and keep things efficient, but I guess I was wrong.

My 5C gave me a good 8-10 hours of usage and better standby (except when I was using the camera) for the first year and a half out of the two years I've owned it. Right now I would say it's probably performing a little under what my brand new 6S is giving me today.

^ that's with 1% remaining, and I calculated 4.83 hours of SOT. Do I have a dud? Other than battery, I've no issues with the phone..but battery life is a big deal, Apple set the bar high, and this is unacceptable to me. I almost made the switch to the S6 and returned it a day later, partly because of poor standby and a battery I didn't have faith would stand the test of time. But my first day's usage with the S6 was better than anything I've gotten out of my 6S so far. That's not to say I'm regretting staying with iOS, but I'm pretty bummed to have to return this phone.

Background app refresh off? Huge difference if it is.

How the hell are people getting those incredible long battery times with the new iPhones??? Almost unbelievable...

iPhone 6s 64GB
Received it last Friday and calibrated the Battery in the nights from Saturday to Sunday and Sunday to Monday. Use my iPhone at 90% screen brightness. Mostly Safari, Facebook, WhatsApp, iMessage/SMS. Background App refresh OFF.
Hope the battery life will increase a little more... It's okay but I'm not 100% satisfied yet. Some screenshots in here make me really jealous. I'll turn screen brightness down a little and make use of the low power mode to see if/to what extend battery life increases.

NOTE: low power mode has been turned OFF on Sunday and Monday!

This is my battery life from Sunday:

Yup, it's off.. and I went through this thread yesterday and made a quite a few other adjustments that were suggested. This cycle was mostly wifi, brightness at or well under 50%, and low power mode turned on at 30%.

It's misleading. For example, I've used my phone from a full charge and smashed through it with Twitter, browsing, app usage, basically all the type of things I would do during any given day but at an extreme. When doing so can easily get 8 - 9 out of the phone, probably more as I don't let it run down to 1% (I might re-charge at 20%).

If I go casual and do less usage then the phone's stats will report anything from 12 - 16 hours of usage (but it's obviously not intensive usage).

I've not benchmarked. For me the above just screams 'OH HELL YEAH YOUR BATTERY DONE GOOD'.

re: the benchmark app you lot are using. Guess it's safe to use? Just seen someone tag it as 'use at your own risk'.

Risk? That's a bit of an over reaction right?

It has always been thus. You can use your phone hard and with all the settings toggled on, or you can engage low power mode with all settings toggled off and not use heavy draining apps...

I can get 7 hours out of my 6S+ if I use it hard, and that's with background refresh & all system location services switched off. Or I can get over 12 hours if I use it very lightly with low-drain apps. I haven't used low power mode yet and never will unless I'm away from a charger for 24 hours and desperate to keep as much battery as I can for emergencies.

Have not used low power mode. Have Siri on, only turn off select items like motion, notifications of some apps, background app update. Turn off location for apps that I feel don't benefit me like games. Keep locations on for locate phone, find friends, things like that. Also keep auto brightness off, do it manual keeping brightness to suit my taste. There are many articles over the years that discuss these techniques.i don't leave Bluetooth on all the time either. Does not benefit me to have every radio on phone always on and screen turned up to burn out my eyes.
