Those not getting the battery life you expected when on wifi switch off your mobile data

As with data off when on wifi my battery is even better..it's great with it on but it's stunning with it off

or make sure "Wifi Assist" is switched off.. that did it for me.
Yeah I switched that off a while ago. Makes a good difference.

Chances are I will keep data on even on wifi but wanted to do another test. As battery life is great even with data on all the time but think I will get a good few hours extra usage

Have not used low power mode. Have Siri on, only turn off select items like motion, notifications of some apps, background app update. Turn off location for apps that I feel don't benefit me like games. Keep locations on for locate phone, find friends, things like that. Also keep auto brightness off, do it manual keeping brightness to suit my taste. There are many articles over the years that discuss these techniques.i don't leave Bluetooth on all the time either. Does not benefit me to have every radio on phone always on and screen turned up to burn out my eyes.
low power mode is great no doubt will extend your battery for as long as they say

only used it a few times though when near the end of work and didn't want to start charging.

i dunno, my 6 plus is still on the out of box charge lol

6 hr 30 min of usage
93 hr 23 min of standby

when did the standby time start showing in hours, not days?

Last time I checked was on iOS 8 on my 6 plus. Has been hours only on 6s plus with iOS 9. Don't know if it's phone or software.

I'm liking the battery on my 6S so far, I'm impressed. Obviously these numbers could've been higher, but I've been playing a lot of AdVenture Capitalist and browsing a lot of Reddit, heh.

I'm at 43% now and this is my usage/standby.
The only thing that I've done is turn off background app refresh.

Mikezmac - that's very good battery life!! I see you use Tapatalk. Does it drain your battery quickly? I get good battery life except when I use TapaTalk a lot. It really seems to be a battery draining monster for me.

Hey! Ye tapatalk does seem to pull battery. This charge I've only used tapatalk to read replies and make 3 posts and it used 4% of this charge I'm still on. However my battery life is so good I'm not to worried. *knock on wood*

This is my bed time. I've been up for almost 18 hours. Here's the battery before I go to bed.

OK, thanks, so it's not just me.. Very happy with mine too on the 6s, but do need to minimize TapaTalk usage when I do need good battery life.

I think you're right. Facebook is another power sink. Not sure how it gets background activity when I have it off. Either way fb is usually in the top 5 and I don't log very much time in it. For heavier users their batteries may feel the crunch.

I'm tempted to leave tapatalk up and see how much it burns.

Facebook uses the VOIP api to get around background app refresh being disabled for it. That's why it'll report as Audio. Pretty scummy way to keep their app reloading in the background.

If you didn't get AppleCare at the time of purchase - do it now, quickly.. Before 14 days are up - you can add AppleCare. Then if you suspect a battery issue -- it's on Apple to replace it from available stock.

Everybody's TURNED OFF that damned WIFI ASSIST thing... right?!... First of all it will eat your Data for LUNCH.. and second it's a super huge battery drain..

Also - unless you live in an area where you're between two cell towers of huge difference and you want to try and land on the stronger one.. MAKE SURE to go into Privacy/LocationServices/SystemServices and turn off the switch for Cell Network Search and Setting TimeZone.. You don't need either of those as they're automatic processes if you're staying in country. Bit battery eaters too. In fact most things in the SystemServices window are battery eaters, 90% of which you don't need.

Keep Routing and Traffic ON... because, and I'm often surprised to find that most people don't know this, that button allows YOUR POSITION to be reported as part of the flow of traffic. It has nothing to do with you GETTING to see traffic on your phone.. It reports YOUR position as part of the whole traffic flow.

But why AppleCare? Apple will replace a bad performing battery within the 1 year warranty, and if you need a battery replacement outside of warranty it's still cheaper. Maybe AppleCare lets you get a new battery and a different threshold, though.

And why keep Traffic ON again? Won't reporting your position take more battery?

Super tiny bit of battery used for Traffic and it helps others see actual traffic better.

You're wrong about replacement phones. Outside of AppleCare after a year phone replacement is $199 I think.. But not free.

Ahh I just meant the cost to replace the battery. Obviously if you break your phone on top of this then AppleCare would have been a good deal for you. Just saying if you are ONLY worried about your battery to not be.

Out-of-warranty battery service cost:
All iPhone models: $79

It's probably been discussed here before but which of these should be enabled? I see compass calibration is being used almost every time I open these settings. I don't really know what cell network switch does, I mean I can guess but having it on for a few days I saw no difference.

Ah! I never use Apple for battery replacement. It's just so much cheaper to get the battery kit off of eBay and do it yourself. I've only ever replaced my own batteries. Get it all done for under $40.

Ahh now that you reminded me, I did the same with my 4S :D. It was a cheap battery so I'm not sure how much good it was, but hey it did the job for the few months I needed it to.
