I would be interesting to see what the results for users who have a "maximum preservation" mentality. In other words how long can your battery last IF you try to make it last aside from standby.

In a nut shell how far can your battery life stretch when stretched, and what is the top Usage App and Time in that App.
Keep everyone up to date, I am now running fresh test using phone continuously. Will see how many hours of usage I get. Video, HBO, Internet, assorted other apps. Should be done tomorrow sometime. Will post results.
6s Plus 128GB TSMC SoC iOS 9.1 received 9/25
Screen on less than 20% brightness. Not use airplane mode. AT&T Wi-Fi at home on Apple Extreme network. Not using any low power mode. Leave screen on all through the test, no sleep.

Which benchmark are you referring to? Apple's or other tests?

Oh i did a benchmark using antutu app. And this is the result

Normal usage; no low power mode; ~6.25 days since last charge; Bluetooth constantly on; brightness ~ 40-50%; used 3D Touch for mails, calls with the actuator vibrating frequently (these are not obvious in the battery usage screen)

As much as I'd like to wait even further until my battery dies (easily could last 24 more hours), I have to place ton of work calls tomorrow. So going to charge it now :)

But 1 charge/wk at best for my usage, 2-3/wk on little above average use for me - No Matter how you slice it, this phone is a beast and makes me happy to think that I can keep it for years with a great battery life since the charging cycles are down by 60-70% compared to my iPhone 6 which I charged every other day at best.

Another solid two days of use on my 6S+, showing screen times for the past 24 hours.

Here is my 6S Plus battery at 53% with no power saving or anything, also with a Apple Watch connected all day... So far so good I'm super happy with this battery life. BTW Samsung chip here.

This is what a lighter than usual day looks like for me. This is on a Samsung chip.
All those who talk about iPhone wall huggers (looking straight at you BlackBerry fanbois) need to shut up.

Ok here it is. Continuous run test.
6s Plus 128GB TSMC SoC iOS 9.1 received 9/25.
Test conditions:
Screen on all time, below 20% brightness.
No low power mode.
AT&T Wi-Fi home Apple Extreme router 801.11ac 400Mbps.
Comcast cable, ARRIS SB6183 personal modem 125mbps.
High use apps Safari, NBC, HBO, streaming various shows and surfing web.
Previous test with sleep, 11 hrs usage, 105 hrs standby.

Here is my 6S battery life after about an hour of gaming at ~20% brightness. According to that I could game for like 10 hours on a charge which isn't likely. Is my battery calibration wrong or something?

I've found battery drain isn't uniform. The percentage drops slower when it's closer to full charge than it does when it's closer to empty.

How does everyone think this performance looks? Brand new iPhone 6s Plus after its first full charge (used it out of the box first to download most of my apps).

Since the full charge it's been nothing outside normal usage - browsing, a couple of videos, and I downloaded 4-5 apps throughout the day. I even activated low power mode at 20%.

I'm a bit concerned as I'm seeing a lot of others getting much better performance from their 6s+'s.

Any thoughts much appreciated!

Why only 21 % showing. Missing apps? Phone needs to have a number of charge discharge cycles and it settles down after a week or two.what did other 79% of power get used on?

I found this to be true with the 6S I had, but my plus is pretty consistent.

How did you perform this test? Were you actively clicking around your phone for 16 hours? Also did you adjust the brightness at all within the "below 20%" like switch it to 1% any of the time? 16 hours is really impressive for on screen time. Somebody with a Samsung needs to run this type of test on min brightness, considering the geekbench which shows the huge disparity uses min brightness for that test. Thanks for running through that.

I was either clicking and browsing Internet or watching several series on NBC and HBO. I let shows run so it was downloading when I slept. The app would continue on with next show in series. I didn't sleep but a few hours a couple times during the test.

At no time was brightness of screen above 20%, I would adjust it between 10-20% depending on surrounding indoor lighting such that I could comfortably see the video image or read on the net. Going to minimum didn't allow me to watch video very well.

I did note that the battery drop vs time was quite linear, in that after the first 20% drop in battery from 100% to 80% I was able to predict accurately the remaining time based on battery percentage.

in my opinion several factors contributed to the long life. I had the cellular radio turned off. As I indicated before I was using AT&T Wi-Fi connected to a speedy internet connection, 125Mbps. With AirPort Extreme on 801.11ac communicating at 400Mbps. I did receive a couple of short calls and some texts during the test but there duration was short and did not register as even 1%. I don't think what I was doing put a great strain on the CPU. so I don't think running this with Samsung chip will show much difference. Radios used and not used and signal strength I believe are a much larger factor in my results. It would be interesting to see comparable loads of screen, radios, Graphics chip, and SoC. Percentages each sub-system uses. As I strongly suspect based the reports I have read that only isolating the SoC load will produce the larger differences. The other phone systems have a much greater effect on current draw and variability.

I have most app notifications turned off,as I also have background app refresh turned off. Systems Services are mostly off, iAds traffic reporting, etc. I do have time, compass, and my location turned on. Hey Siri was on at all times. And used a few times. Transparency was operating, but motion was not. I did not use airplane mode. I did see GPS location mark appear a few times.

I do note that based on this test and my earlier test with 11 hours usage and 105 hours standby. A one percent of battery life for me translates into 10 minutes of on screen use in video and Internet viewing under the test conditions. And that in sleep standby I have repeatedly seen a 1 to 2% drop overnight. Which works out to 1% battery giving 4 hours sleep mode.

That's all I can think of.

Normal usage, I guess I'm happy but now I wished I was more patient and went with the 6S Plus.

I can't watch NFL games for more than an hour with my 6S and expect it to last the rest of my 12 hour shift. I had to stick to the NFL app highlights.

Gotcha. You may want to try this app out "Tailor". It stitches together multiple screen shots of the longer screens than can be seen at once. You just take multiple screen shot overlapping and it stitches them together. Then save that as a separate photo image and bang all together.

Nice one, shall do next time.

Looking at the difference between my phone's performance and yours, do you think I should be heading to the Apple Store? It seems a vast gap in battery life - though the usage is slightly different...

With 6 hours use and 13 hours standby You may want to test again. What things have you fine tuned, notifications, system services, what was screen brightness? Also signal strength make a huge difference. The same phone in if fervent location may drive the radio very hard trying to reach cell site or wifi router. If you are close to Apple Store you can have them check your phone's battery. But if in other respects, screen, buttons, etc you are happy I would tend to keep it.
