wow, that price tag is crazy..
imitated or not,
the HTC team making a bald move to rip the iphoneless folks.
with this price it might work.
seems a stellar device.
apart from Android of course.

Again, the 5 and the M7 look NOTHING alike, if you honestly believe they do, get your eyes checked.
Because Apple made a phone with aluminum chamfers (which nobody did before 9/2012) and 6 months later HTC does it too? I remember when they were both flagships, and the only thing about the One M7 that was substantially different from the 5's material use was its cheap plastic band in the sides. Lol. "All metal!"

oh man those pictures... HTC basically went to the factory and were like, hey build us an iphone body shell scaled for a 5 inch screen.

They totally copied apple! The iPhone still looks nicer though, the flash not being centered on the htc looks so ugly! And people say all apple does is copy, I'd say apple Comes up with a lot of the technologies in The smartphone market!

I think people are forgetting HTC had the lines first

Lawsuit incoming....

At first glance I thought it was an iPhone in the middle. Bad HTC ....BAD!!

Why did HTC named it A9? Just to throw off potential iPhone buyers by making it look like it has next generation of A8 processor? Apple should copy the camera lens placement though.

The deep garnet is absolutely beautiful. If I were to get a back up Android device, I probably would get this one. Never had an HTC phone before.

Apple's external legal counsel is salivating right now. $$$
Win or lose, they still make bank.
What $$$? This is not Samsung. I see HTC going out of business which would benefit Samsung; not Apple. HTC literally has nothing to lose except it's pride at this point.

. . . . and people think Apple doesn't influence the smartphone industry.

Lol.

Yeah, it's dumb and disgusting. Especially when the discussion is not even about money anymore and you just do NOT want an iPhone or an iPhone-lookalike but something else that's individual and can stand on its own feet.

hmmm..
how can a 2,150 mAh battery holds 12 hours of HD screening (as they claim)?
this is better than TSMC!

Haven't read any of this thread, but I prefer HTC's camera placement... it's the thing I hate the most about iPhones. It's extremely awkward to take handheld landscape shots. Always readjusting so my fingers aren't in the shot.

I selected the Garnet red unlocked version and it lists 3GB RAM, 32GB storage for $399. Maybe only the unlocked versions are the second configuration?

Thank you. I think my employer's firewall is causing problems.

I was concerned that HTC was going to put this out at US$600. At US$400 I think it may have a fighting chance.

But the market is so saturated with good phones it might be a case of too little, too late for HTC.

Hmm. The HTC One A9 actually seems much more similar to the HTC One M9, which is almost identical to the HTC One M8, which is a lookalike of the One M7. Here's an image of all four:

Is HTC really ripping off Apple here? It seems like they've been making this sort of design for many many years now...

The HTC One A9 is an evolution of HTC's previous designs and it's now reached the point where it seems very similar to the iPhone 6 design. It may have been coincidental, but I'm also guessing HTC may have designed the One A9 with the iPhone 6 in mind.

Anyways, does anyone not see the similarity on the front to the Samsung Galaxy and Note series phones?

I'm not digging HTC's design on this one. I think HTC's original HTC One was the best designed phone at the time and to this day it still is one of the best looking phones that exist. It was premium, sleek and high quality. It's a shame they went from that to this. It no longer feels premium anymore and just seems like a confused phone that looks like a cross between the iPhone 6 on the rear and a Samsung Galaxy on the front. A shame since I really like HTC as a company and wanted them to release a killer phone.

Probably the best posts in this thread, lost in a sea of hopping mad Apple fans.
More important things in life, especially more important then somehow claiming HTC copied the name of Apples processor which 99% of iPhone owners won't even know!
I think the A9 needs better specs, they should have used the Snap Dragon 620 CPU.

And its great to see a 5" Android phone too!! The small handset market is none existent almost. We don't all want giant phablets.
