Well, considering Apple rippied off HTC's design in the first place for the iPhone 6. Then this is just HTC perfecting the design Apple ripped off.

Not really? Apple had been making aluminum products for years, and they invented the antenna designs. If anything the HTC one was a copy of an original iPad, but it still looked original enough that it wouldn't have bothered me. This however, unless your blind, is an exact copy of the iPhone 6/6s.

We're really saying HTC copied Apple?

Do you really see something similar there ?

Hmm. The HTC One A9 actually seems much more similar to the HTC One M9, which is almost identical to the HTC One M8, which is a lookalike of the One M7. Here's an image of all four:

Is HTC really ripping off Apple here? It seems like they've been making this sort of design for many many years now...
are you blind ? The first three are similar one to each other, but the last one is an iPhone 6 !
How can someone defend HTC on this ?

All metal back and antenna bands on the top and bottom. Only difference is the camera placement.
totally different shape of the back, more rounded, totally different ....

From HTC's site:

"design worth imitating From the company that crafted the world's first all-metal design, HTC again sets a new design standard. The HTC One A9 features a super-thin metal frame with an elegant finish, expandable SD card memory and edge-to-edge Corning® Gorilla® Glass 4. Available in an array of brilliant colours. Colors very by region"
lol can't even spell. Colors vary by region.

But the design I think was copied from HTC, Apple went from an all square and sharp edged design to the iPhone 6 with antenna lines that mimick HTC. Apple did not invent the antenna design with the line across the back! Apple copied HTC. They also coppied Samsung and LG with the iPhone design.

The curvey Samsung Ativ S that the iPhone 6 looks like was launched in 2012! :

So perhaps everyone should do the equivalent of looking in a mirror before accusing HTC of copying Apples stolen design!

Again, the 5 and the M7 look NOTHING alike, if you honestly believe they do, get your eyes checked.

I don't need to have my eyes checked to see they went from a drab plastic case to an iPhone 5 knockoff:
  • Aluminum unibody construction
  • Beveled polished edges EXACTLY like the iPhone 5
  • Antennae bands Exactly the same as the iPhone 5
  • Black, White, and Gold Exactly the same as iPhone 5

Yes, there are some obvious differences I agree. Most notably the front speakers and no home button and the fact they couldn't match the thinness so they added those ugly curves. All of which they have abandoned in the A9 for a complete iPhone 6/6s replica!!!

Did you ever try an LG Prada phone? I did. Nasty. Black and white (the color screen version above came out later), capacitive touch screen (awful), slider keyboard. Nothing like the iPhone. Also, it was announced three weeks before the iPhone, so no, Apple did not copy LG.

The iPhone 6 is an ugly phone (FYI I do own one). It's almost like Apple decided to put out the most hideous design they could to see if anyone would copy them. Tada!
For the rest of us, phone's design does not matter before it's bump and water resistant. Before that, all that matters is the case's design...

totally different, the camera is centered.

Also, centering the lens and not the flash looks awful.
Yeah, it's pretty lame, that no matter what position you hold the camera, you always know that the lens is in the center. Too easy when you don't have to worry about your fingers blocking the camera. (Yes, my second ip is 6...)

2TB!
With apple 48GB is hundred bucks, so 2000GB would be $4000...!
2TB microSD cards don't actually exist yet. There was supposed to be a 512GB card released in July which would have cost ~$1000. The highest capacity you can definitely buy right now is 200GB, which retails for $250.

You have the nerve to break site rules and accuse me of trolling after your disgusting tasteless joke comment:

:p

Using your logic then, that big HTC logo and centered camera lens makes the A9 look nothing like an iPhone 6. But that doesn't fit in with your tasteless joke posts does it?

Not sure why I am excited for this phone -- but the more I look into it, the more excited I become.

Here's some advantages over the Nexus 5X. (Someone posted this)

This is the closest to a Nexus 5(P) we will get this year.
  • AMOLED panel
  • More compact at 5" (FINALLY a normal sized phone that doesn't suck)
  • Gorilla Glass 4 > GG3
  • 3GB / 32GB option > 2GB / 32GB
  • Better speaker
  • Par or better camera (includes OIS where 5X/6P do not)
  • WAYYY more premium build
  • WAYYY better looking (at least for me)
  • Finger sensor on front instead of back (my phone is almost always on a desk = advantage for me)
  • Virtually stock Android and promises updates within 15 days after Nexus devices get them
  • QuickCharge 3.0/2.0
  • micro SD card support
HTC One A9 (32GB) - $399
Nexus 5X (32GB) - $429

Someone mentioned that maybe HTC is going after the mid-range market since they can't compete in the high-end market anymore.

The way I hold my phone to take a picture, using the volume button as a shutter button. Keeps my finger out of the way. with the camera in the middle my finger would be covering it no matter which way I hold it.

HTC's gray color option looks better, though...

Space Gray 6s vs. Carbon Gray A9
htc-one-a9-vs-iphone-6s-sg-1-1280x720.jpg

This is more the colour I was hoping the 6S would have been - a space :black"

Still, I don't mind my 6S colour. Its a nice contrast. At certain angles it looks like very different shades

seriously HTC .... I used to like your style.

Was that before or after Apple released the iPhone 6, which has a not dissimilar rear to the original (And subsequent) HTC One?

Seriously guys, this one would be a little embarrassing for all of the bandwagon jumpers on this forum... if they had any shame

I think people are forgetting HTC had the lines first
silver.png

As mentioned before, Apple iPhone 5 had these UGLY antennae bands a full 6 months before the HTC One M7. Throw in the other designs that were also copied like the unibody aluminum shell, chamfered edges and exact color matches and you can can see why people think HTC has a LONG history of copying Apple design ideas.

Hahhaha.
Oh well ,bottom line : if you can't beat apple then copy shamelessly / it's been working fine for samsung then why shouldn't it work for the new htc (How To Copy ) company...
Don't be haters people.

If anything ; isn't it flattering for apple to be copied;-)
