And has been discussed endlessly, pretty much with millions of devices, there are variations. 10.3 beta 1 is pretty much flawless. Best ever beta release. Kudos to apple. You're having an app specific issue.Apparently it isn't as per above post
Not really. Nothing was really revolutionary, just popular.Didn't used to apply when Jobs was around. Almost a certainty something revolutionary was coming around every turn
As I'm from the Netherlands and seeing lots of people having huawei I can tell you that those phones are very well built and equipped with cameras at least on par with iPhone. Software is latest android with an iOS skin. You can't tell the difference from iOS 10. Google now and services like maps are way better then Apple's offerings. At least google does understand Dutch very well. Also take in consideration huaweis got better screens than iPhone plus (same as Samsung s7 and s7 edge) also they had a dual camera 6 months prior the iPhone 7. 3 years ago nobody noticed huawei here and now they're outselling iPhones. Also far less expensive than Apple. People are starting to notice here you pay a lot of Apple tax and Apple is fast getting yesterday news. If I was mr Cook I would be worried indeed. Huawei delivers where Apple is stalling.
How Much would it cost to build your own fab plant to produce your $80 margin phones that sell for $800?
Could you scrape together the $150 million to make a phone?
You make it seem apples ripping us off, but the design, development and production of a phone is expensive.
I'm happy Xiaomi fell out of favor - its nice that shameless copying is not rewarded.
Its there in almost any app.Netflix,Gmail, WhatsApp, Facebook. Its nowhere near as bad as it was on iPhone 6.But still I wouldnt say its 60 fps smoothAnd has been discussed endlessly, pretty much with millions of devices, there are variations. 10.3 beta 1 is pretty much flawless. No Jobs---->No iPhone,iPad,Mac------>We would still be using thisNot really. Nothing was really revolutionary, just popular.
It's the same point whether it's widgets, watches or phones. You're playing fast and loose with other people's(corporations) money. We were talking about Apple Watches costing around $80 to make, and the fact that it did not take billions of dollars to design or have them made.
Not sure why you keep bringing up "building your own fab", since Apple did not do that either. Why would they? They just did what everyone else does: contract most everything out to various Chinese suppliers and factories.
The Apple Watch itself is assembled in a Quanta factory, next to laptops etc. Although the story is that Quanta had no experience with such a small form factor, and had to borrow a few thousand Foxconn employees to get started.
You don't need to any more. Heck there are dozens of small mom & pop outfits making their own smartphones in China. They use off the shelf MediaTek processors and Android, along with any of the zillion Chinese factories that will build almost anything you want.
I didn't say that. What I said was that design and manufacturing doesn't cost what you think it does. I also said that plenty of device makers make a decent living even without high margins. And that yes, many consumers would rather that any extra money stayed in their own pocket. Others are quite welcome to spend more. We've all done it
Xiaomi bet on cheaper phones in China, but should've stuck with their higher end ones where they were more unique.
OTOH, apparently Xiaomi did great in India last year, coming in 4th not far behind Apple.
Xiaomi's biggest problem is that with the way they copy Apple, they would have a hard time entering the US market without Apple's lawyers coming off the bench![]()
That has nothing to do with the direction Cook has taken apple. It's obvious everything that is built relies on those who come before. If it weren't for motorola we would all be using this. Its there in almost any app.Netflix,Gmail, WhatsApp, Facebook. It's the same point whether it's widgets, watches or phones. You're playing fast and loose with other people's(corporations) money.Apple is under no obligation to reduce prices, use their war-chest for unlimited R&D or anything else that has been mentioned.
Who is saying apple NEEDS the "extra" profit? What "extra" profit? Profit is profit. Who is determining it's "extra"?I never said any of that. You just did. Heck, they can charge whatever they want and can get away with.
What I've been talking about, is that claims that Apple NEEDS all that extra profit for R&D, are demonstrably incorrect. Otherwise they wouldn't have so much left over AFTER paying for R&D.
Apple is stashing away hundreds of billions and doing nothing with it. That's their right, but nobody can excuse it as being necessary for anything except as a backup if Cook screws up too badly. Even then, he'd have to actually be LOSING money all the time, which seems very unlikely to happen no matter what.

I always find these statements comical . tell us where again, iPhones are designed, developed and where iOS is programmed?I always find these statements comical . tell us where again, iPhones are built?
I admire yours also.I admire your fortitude ... I would've been into expletives a long time ago.
We get it, you want a round phone, or maybe a triangle. Apple has never released the same phone twice, the guts are always substantially improved. The outside looks the same - why is that a problem? Are you afraid maybe someone might not notice that you bought the newest one?
Yep. Poor people should start out with low price units, and trade up to high value units over time.So you prefer to buy high profit margin products? How strange...
I never denied Motorola revolutionised communication. But the next biggest Revolution was spearheaded by Jobs. Timmy iterated on what Jobs invented just like how other companies iterated on that antique telephone you just postedIt's the same point whether it's widgets, watches or phones. There are certainly ways, such as replacing the board of directors, which could change the ceo, which could change apples directions.
Opining on an internet forum is not going to get that done.
I'm not sure how anyone really knows how much R&D costs for a given product other than hearsay.

So you've changed from high profit margin to high value items, and felt the need to highlight the word VALUE.. the two are not the same.. feel free to reply again with comments not relevant to your original post.Yep. Turns out selling a ton of phones at razor thin margins isn't exactly sustainable either. Who would have imagined...I'm happy Xiaomi fell out of favor - its nice that shameless copying is not rewarded.
Huawei phones look good so no surprise to me - they're all over retail here in SE Asia.

There's a night and day difference between a Hyundai Elantra and a NASCAR race car. Yet they both have 4 tires, brakes, engines and move people from one place to another. There is a night and day difference between a conventional cellphone and an iPhone

No, not really. The difference between an iPhone and a conventional cellphone is far greater than a race car vs Hyundai. The iPhone does a LOT more than just call people
