Yah. I agree.
If there was no Apple, there would be no mobile internet”. What a grovelling clown. I was using the Nokia communicator and P900 long before the iPhone came along.

Yeah, it’s like he’s pandering to the public without a basis in reality. Makes me wonder if he’s just acting as China’s frontman fallout guy on this issue.

Ditto. Was using Compaq iPaq and Dell Axim PDAs with Sprint CF2013 compact flash data card for calls and internet data back around 2003 so long before first iPhone in 2007.

the fact that trump said he will make trouble go away for huawei as soon as the trade war is settled basically makes me take him less seriously when he said its about national security

if everyone in other countries share your sentiment trust me all us companies would fail immediately, without china buick wouldve folded like hummer, pontiac, etc.

chinese companies arent the one to blame for factories and manu closing in the us, blame apple and other big companies for shipping the jobs oversea in the first place.
He tried to pull this BS with German cars. They're not national security risk he's just using them as a bargaining chip.

Apple down 29% if China stops importing their products. Imagine how far down they'd go if China stopped exporting Apple products.

Apple would collapse. China has one of the largest caches of the vital rare metals needed to make logic boards etc. and they refuse to export the raw metal so they can force companies to do business with them. Apple hasn’t harvested enough metal for their recycled phones etc nor do they have the right facilities here in the US to mass produce enough product to keep going.

There's a company looking to restart rare earths mining in the US.

I hate Huawei and I’m not afraid to admit it. I hope they fail. In fact, I hope more Chinese companies fail and more manufacturing comes stateside. Go Apple! Go USA! Long live the iPhone!

I don’t “Hate” but would like to see a lot more jobs here in the US..we should have a better educational system in place to train those that want these jobs so that’s not an excuse anymore. And the whole American workers cost more statement can die also..chances are the money you give the American worker will go RIGHT BACK to you anyway lol. We do like to spend money

Perhaps you could direct your anger and hatred to your beloved American corporations that voluntarily shipped jobs elsewhere instead of hating others.

Or Canadian and Mexican steel

Experts say that’s gonna take couple years, apparently it’s not mining them the difficult part, it’s the processing that would take 4-5 years to get going

Obviously Huawei wants Apple to keep manufacturing in China. Otherwise, how would Huawei get all of their new tech?
Without American or Korean companies to steal from, Huawei is nothing...
Huawei holds 30 percent of 5g patents and beat apple and Samsung to the market on many new tech like under screen fingerprint id and night view camera, can’t steal what apple and Samsung don’t have

Apple is the world's leading company. If there was no Apple, there would be no mobile internet. If there was no Apple to help show us the world, we would not see the beauty of this world. Apple is my teacher -- it's advancing in front of us. As a student, why should I oppose my teacher? I would never do that.

Don't do this, Huawei! Please! I beg of you! Don't be reasonable and honest and clear-minded! Don't echo what we already know about Apple, the company that has principles and patience that extend well beyond the industry. I want to keep detesting you! How can I if you behave this way and say thing that I agree with????

Because they need someone in the front to take the heat and copy them?

One can create new features off others ;) It is great for Apple to exist for Huawei. Competition is great for Huawei. What the CEO of Huawei said was spot on.

I remember those back in the days. I bought one too back then.

Tim Cook: this years iPhones are made completely in the US.
Everyone: cheers.
Tim Cook: the new iPhone 12 will cost only $2999 with two year contracts.

Why not?

"Apple is my teacher" sounds like total horse ****.

Ren is former Chinese army and obviously has deep ties with Chinese communist leaders. After Canada arrested Huawei's Meng in Vancouver they went bat ****.

"ramp-up its in-house technologies", again horse ****. It's faster and less costly to just reverse engineer or steal from competitors.

I used to go to their Brighton and Lawrence stores to buy their shoes. Now I buy them at the local factory outlet or online. It's cool to be able to go to the factory where they make them, and then buy them in the outlet store next door. New Balance is the only athletic shoe maker in the US making them in the US. They also make shoes in the UK for their domestic market. They don't cost any more than those from Nike, Adidas, Asics, etc.

Still for national security purposes it’s worth it. Our manufacturing sector wasn’t gutted in a few months, it’s been gutted over the course of the last 30 years. It’ll take a similar amount of time to bring those jobs back, and yes, that means paying higher prices. That’s the cost of a strong middle class and it’s well worth it in my view. Nobody wins a race to the bottom.

Yep. Didn't get in this position overnight and there's no easy fix.

We should have worked on this in the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, etc. I remember when textiles moved to Asia. Lots of jobs lost in the US. I'm glad to see that New Balance is still making shoes in the US and there are a few clothing makers as well. I'd love to see more. New Balance uses a lot of technology to keep costs down and they employ people in Massachusetts to make their shoes - Massachusetts is a high cost-of-labor state. If they can do it in Massachusetts, they could make even higher margins in low cost-of-labor states. But I think that they are happy with their factories where they are.

Yep. My father was a textile salesman. He's very lucky to have reached the age of retirement when the textile market massively changed. Had he'd been 20 years younger, he'd had to have found a new field.
