Which factories pay the minimum wage?

Do you really think sites are paying for leaks? For what? 1 nanosecond of fame, and then everyone copy&pastes your expensive "exclusive"?

well yeah that's how websites make money. That one nanosecond of fame spreads like wildfire with social media and sites like MR reposting, next thing you know you have a ton of visitors to your site and you make more money.... They will make the money they paid for the exclusive many times over in most cases.

I don't know if they pay minimum wage, but that's irrelevant, the point is these people are being offered way more money than they make for these leaks I am sure. Otherwise they wouldn't risk their jobs.

That's not how it works, people keep coming to MR or their preferred site.

We'll see that in September.

Yes, but when Macrumors posts a leak they provide a link to the site who broke it, so does BGR, so does idownloadblog, etc. etc. etc. and readers of those sites click on those links. people tweet it out to all of their followers, they click on those links, people post it on facebook and their friends click on those links.... If you don't understand this concept by now then you are really old or live under a rock.

I'm sure you will disappear come September when the phone comes out and this thread will be long buried.

Guess what? Nobody clicks that link.

Are you calling me a coward?

I think the leaks are disappointing but we have gone through this every year since at least the iPhone 4. People say it's not like Apple, it can't be real, it looks so fake, I did some math, etc. in all likelihood we've basically seen the next iPhone. Does this make me happy? Not really. If this were eight years ago I might be singing a different tune.

Exactly this. We've seen the next iPhone like it or not.

...except that time when we've "seen" that "teardrop" design iPhone that still hasn't actually come out.

The amount of leaks we've had and sources and legitimate websites backing all this up.....its overwhelmingly true at this point lol. Please apple prove me wrong. Please.

Ugh never mind, you're absolutely right dude its going to be a completely different phone with a completely different set of features from what we've seen in these leaks. There will even be a headphone jack!

It's not a question of being right or wrong, I don't mind being "wrong" one bit, I'm not against anyone, I'm JUST SCEPTIC.

But you're calling me coward?

I'm going to remember you.

If there was only 1 leak, okay maybe it's fake, but there has been tens of leaks relatively the same. That's like saying I had 60% in all my exams and at the final, i'm going to get a 97%. Use your logic.

I would bet we already know exactly what it looks like, again I hope I'm wrong. The only thing we don't know is how Tim is going to convince us that we need it. lol
I will probably upgrade since I skipped the 6s version.

"Alleged", dude, nobody needs clickbait journalism here.

either do you have an actual number, or you just have BS from bloggers.

Look, I'm not looking to derail the thread with a whole debate about this, but where there's smoke there's fire. It's not just blogs and clickbating "journalists" who have reported on this issue, and the video rebuttal that you posted is, by their own admission, coming from a media outlet with a vested interest in Apple.

I don't know what's true and what isn't. As with most things, it's probably somewhere between the two sides of the story. I just brought it up because of how you immediately dismissed the notion that it might be worthwhile for people who have access to the phones to leak something. But it happens time and time again.

I just love the double standards.

When iPhone SE came out, people loved it even though it looks exactly the same as iPhone 5s but has a girly rose gold option this time. The iPhone 7 hasn't been released yet, people are now bashing it because it looks too much like iPhone 6 and focuses on the removal of headphone jack while ignoring things like water-resistance, wireless charging, dual stereo speakers, capacitive home button, etc. If not bashing, deny the leaks are real when Tim Cook stated 2016 won't be a highlight year for Apple and we will not see any dramatic "external" changes for iPhone.

Rumored three-year cycle, remember? Something we saw with the SE after the 5 and 5s! Reassurance threads. Don't buy it if you hate it. Be in denial if you want to. I can bet you OP that these leaks are real just like putting house money on Hillary will win the election because nobody wants Benito Mussolini and Joffrey Baratheon as our POTUS. Like trying to bet against Secretariat in the 1973 Belmont Stakes. Or betting against Citation in the 1948 Pimlico Special and Spectacular Bid in the 1980 Woodward. Both were walkovers and had nobody to compete with.

California Chrome winning the 2016 Breeders' Cup Classic at Santa Anita is not a sure thing with too much speed like Dortmund, Nyquist, and Beholder in it. Beware of Exaggerator. ;) Horse racing expert for two decades from Cigar, Skip Away, Ghostzapper, Curlin, Zenyatta, American Pharoah, and now California Chrome. I see a lot of angles. This iPhone 7 leak is as guaranteed as Hillary being our POTUS and Man o' War beating Hoodwink by 100 lengths. Go ahead and bet against a likely sure winner but proceed with caution, suckers. ;)

As I said before, iPhone SE is lazy work from Apple for one apparent reason: maximize profitability and minimize cost. There is almost no R&D spending, using older inventories and/or recycled parts.

People forgive Apple for iPhone SE because of the price point. For $399, I still think it is fairly pricy, but fair at Apple standard.

iPhone 7 is different. Apple is charging iPhone for more than 700 dollars (almost certain over 900CAD and plus tax). When you charge this much for a damn smartphone, you'd better give me a reason for upgrade. So far I haven't see any.

Apple deserve all the bashes from core users, Apple has gone lazy mode again. I am certainly not upgrading this year.

If you want to read that, you can.

Basically, the base pay is 2300 yuan. Around 350 dollar per month. There are bonus pay, overtime pay etc. The max you can get is around 4000 to 6500 yuan per month. That is around 650 to 970 dollars per month.

You tell me can you afford your living with 979 dollars per month?
Employees are working more than 8 hours a day, sometimes upward 12 hours a day. Yet the pay is fairly low.

In China, the housing price is high. Even with 2nd and 3 tired cities (cities like Beijing and Shanghai are first tire cities, capitals city of each province are considered as 2nd tire and rest small cities are considered as 3rd6, housing price is around 3000-4000 per square meter. Tell me how long take iPhone assembler able afford a apartment?

It's worse than that:

http://www.thisamericanlife.org/blog/2012/03/retracting-mr-daisey-and-the-apple-factory

But some people keep pushing that Apple is the devil and is enslaving people. And you just fabricated that they are receiving the minimum wage right now...

Strangely, the noise disappears when talking about Android phones that most are undoubtedly made by children, and under very inhumane conditions. For "some reason" (aka people hate Apple because it's expensive) Foxconn is always "Apple's factory", despite so many brands manufacturing there, but you'll never see "Xiaomi factory", or "Intel factory". Hypocrisy, that's what it is.

Apple is painting itself as ethical company that cares about their employees, being fair for everybody. Tim Cook went long to fight for gay people. Yet they still use child labor, paying minimum wage, taking high profit.

Android phone maker does not claim themselves as normal guard, they don't take such ridiculously high profit.

If you want blame, blam Apple. Just stop pretending Apple is such innocent company. Apple is just a other greedy company, like all other.

Dude, I'm Portuguese, do you know how much do people make, on average, in Portugal? 909€, that's about $1k. That's not the minimum, that's average, the minimum is about $15.5K USD / yr.

$970 is a lot of money for a Chinese factory worker! Your barber doesn't charge differently if he's shaving a an ordinary men, or Bill Gates, does he? It's the same for factory workers, doesn't matter if it's an iPhone or a Xiaomi.

You Americans live in one of the richest countries in the world, I get that, but I can't help if you think that you cannot live under $1K a month, specially in Shenzhen.

Dude that is maximum you can get. There is no guarantee you can get 950.

Have you even went to China before? The cost of living in China, especially in cities like Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen is very high. One bed room rental can cost you around 4000-7000 RMB a month.

As I said, the base pay is only around 350 dollar a month. Rest are bouns, overtime pay. 350 is only thing that guaranteed. Not lot people can get maximum pay.

Dude that is maximum you can get. There is no guarantee you can get 950.

Dude, that's not even possible, the minimum wage is 2030.

Whatever, I get where you want to arrive. You're not convincing anyone that isn't already convinced.

It's pretty simple: you can't produce millions of iPhone without somebody leaking the design. So, yes, these leaks are real.
You can look at past releases, in August the design has been leaked completely every time. And regarding your iPhone 5SE argument: there weren't any leaks because it looks like iPhone 5s.

If you look at the picture. It clearly says the base pay is 2030 yuan. Converted to USD is 350 dollars.

The 4000 dollar figure is after bouns, energy rebeat etc. Even with 4000 is still low.

The point is 1K per month is low. There is no way you can afford decent mean of living with that wage. If you think those labor only deserve that then I have nothing to say.

Just saying, the minimum wage in Ontario Canada is 11.25. Monthly around 1800. Annual around 2.1K.

Really, even if you take the max 976 dollar monthly income is only sound 6 bucks per hour. That is low and this is the upmost they can get.
