Call. Both of ours did the same. AT&T messed up attaching them to our account took 90 min phone call to fix but they immediately credited $60 to my acct for inconvenience.

I felt like an idiot when I called lol. Although I toggled airplane mode and reset network settings I never tried restarting. They informed me to do so and it worked fine, haha.

iBreatheApple, congrats. Hope you enjoy your new baby :)

Definitely a unique one-of-a-kind feeling for us techies when we nab the prize! (new iPhone)

Not quite as much fun as standing in line on product launch AND getting exactly what you wanted!

And CONGRATULATIONS!!! (Guess we won't be hearing anything from him anytime soon!)

I wish the gardener would stop running that leaf blower! I won't be able to hear the truck. ; )

I think he is looking at my porch...

Oh Baby! Oh Baby!

You are right, nothing compares to getting the one you wanted on the madness that is launch day :D

I wish there was a study done to monitor dopamine levels of launch day iPhone purchasers to see how much they shoot up for us.

My volume up button has an issue. You have to push it further than flush with the band to click/work. :(

Oh good lord...

Seriously?!

Sigh. I remember ordering the 5 last year, was so excited when I finally got the delivery... then I open the box and see 2 scratches on the chamfered edges. Wouldn't wish that sort of "not perfect out of the box" experience on anyone :(

You are pushing it wrong. ;)

This buffoon on tech support is telling me to update to to 7.0.1. I said, "sir, I'm not trying to be rude but you understand this is a hardware issue, right?" He said, "I understand what your saying but updating it might fix the problem, I'm not saying it will fix it but sometimes it does."

You gotta love tech support

lol that's too much.

Maybe he's one of those who thinks iOS 7 makes it waterproof.

Well... I updated and shockingly the button hasn't changed. Even better, updating on the phone (the only one I have) disconnected our call (obviously) so now I have to call and re-explain myself. Sigh.

Any idea how long it will take for them to to get a new replacement 5s to your door?

I've never done it over the phone so I'm curious.

Maybe it's normal. I will pull off my case and see about my volume buttons.

Update: just checked and both of my buttons depress the same amount. They stop movement about 1/2 way down the exposed length of the buttons.

Last year waiting for my 5 I was the same way. Looking out the window, pacing in the hallway. I even sent my partner out to drive around town looking for a UPS truck! I had to leave at 4:30pm to make it to a concert and was paranoid that I would have to leave before the phone got there and have to wait until Monday to get it. It showed up at about 4:10pm and I was very relived and brought my MacBook to set up my phone in the car on the way to the concert :D

This year I lined up at Apple and while yes, waiting in line and being up early was a bit of a hassle, I think it was easier than wasting an entire day glued to the door. I had my phone in hand by 8:45am.

No idea. Usually you have to ship it back (for free with a "D" number they give you to take to UPS) and it's usually a total turnaround of 4-5 days. I think they can send you one without sending yours back first if they put a hold for the entire amount of the phone on your card.

I'm on hold again. After being disconnected twice. Trying to remain positive and not frustrated...

I'm the same way! You aren't alone! Mine came yesterday!

They have to put a hold on my card. $749 for the phone +72.28 tax AND THEY ARE CHARGING ME $31 FOR SHIPPING AND EXTRA "FEES" FOR SENDING THE PHONE BACK. THE $31 FEE IS CHARGED AND DOES NOT LIFT WITH THE HOLD. I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS KIND OF EXPERIENCE WITH APPLE.

I said, "Why on God's green earth would I be responsible for that charge when I just bought the phone and it was defective!?" He's contacting his senior advisor now...

That is horrible!! I'm so sorry about your unfortunate luck. I would be so disappointed.

Yeah, that shouldn't be.... I've sent a defective (iPhone 5) one back to Apple before (it wasn't even brand new-- it was used but the sleep/wake stopped working) and never had to pay for shipping or anything... They put a hold on my card for $932, they send me a new one, I use the same box and send back my old one, I get my $932 back.

It's not even about the defective product at this point. Sh-t happens, I understand. No company has or will ever have a 0% failure/defective rate with their products. But the audacity to charge me $31 for this? I am... disgusted.
