It is seriously getting tiresome and 40% of the threads are complaints and it doesn't end. Happen last year, happened the year before that.

Its like people feel like they have no one else to talk to and they need these boards to make them feel better about every conscious decision.

ITS a ********** phone. And for a lot of people here....a phone you will replace in one year. If its that bad.....RETURN IT. It's called 30 day warranty, play the game you were given. If its the same as your old phone, then Why are you even complaining.

1 billion phones are sold PER YEAR. You have other choices. But we aren't your family, don't come to us when times are bad. Problems have been stated and either deal with it or return it.

YOU HOLD ALL THE POWER. DEAL WITH IT. YOU ARE TYE CONSUMER. Sorry I am being harsh, but grow a pair. At least for your iPhone.....you'll come out a better person. Promise.

Doubely promise......with cherries and sprinkles

And I promise that if you just didn't click into threads you know will frustrate you or took a break from MR yourself as well - you'll come out a better person and not be so pissed off.

My take on it... if it doesn't affect you either not happening to you or you use a case, then don't read the forums, but for me there is a wealth of information on macrumors for many many people having real problems with all apple/mac related stuff.

I am rarely one to be biased due to post counts or registration dates, but June 2010 has been a tough month for Mac Rumors. The number of new sign ups has been astronomical, and they have had no problem just jumping right in and having a go.

Personally when I join a new forum, I spend time getting to know the forum, the people, how things are done, what is okay and not okay that kind of stuff. Perhaps make a few innocous replies to other threads etc etc.

Some of the JunTennies have started more threads in a week or two than long-contributing members have made in years.

I think the lack of consideration is pretty noticeable and it is mostly coming from a percentage of the new sign ups.

I think it is great that MacRumors is growing like wildfire, but I think it sucks that a good percentage of the new people coming on are not house trained.

Well said you beat me to it! then again i did join in June oopps

I joined originally in 2006 but found that alot of users just wanted to belittle you, and be the first to point out that this post had already been posted etc etc and be down right offensive but it's because i started engaging in arguments with these people i got banned in the end for losing my temper.

i rejoined in 2008 i just flit in and out for help and to give help if i can and to see what the hot topic is, but the help and advice i have been given by the forum has been gold dust so don't let it get you down

These forums are hilarious on multiple levels. Not sure why anyone would get so worked up over the threads that are posted here but to each their own. :)

Sadly this isn't just limited to Macrumours, the quality of discussion on the internet as a whole has been trending downwards for years now and is rapidly diminishing its value as a useful tool.

The iPhone 4 is actually a great example of this. There is, let's be honest, a problem with the phone. We know this for a fact. However the exact scale and specifics of that problem haven't really come to light yet and as it's only been out a week I suspect Apple are still running through their own discovery phase. It's perfectly reasonable at this point for people to be looking for information on what's going on so that they can make a decision as to whether or not to return the device if they've had this problem so you'd expect volume to be up a bit in forums like this. It's also perfectly reasonable to assume that there are hundreds of thousands of people who are perfectly happy with their purchase as we haven't seen hordes of people descending upon Apple stores baying for blood or, at least, a rebate. In other words it's much like every other very popular consumer gadget in the last few years: probably has issues, some have it worse than others, most who do work with the company or reseller to resolve them, end of story.

The problem is you have hundreds of, frankly, lunatics posting nonsense and making the signal to noise ratio so bad it becomes impossible to work out what's really going on. If you listen to some you'd think it's impossible to actually make a call on the iPhone, or that simply touching it in a certain way will kill it no matter the circumstances which, frankly, isn't true. You've got rabid fanboys thinking they smell blood in the water and going into full attack mode, you've got equaly stupid people determined to defend Apple as if their lives depended on it. The odds of having a sane, sensible conversation on the topic are roughly the same right now as winning the lottery.

Give it a few weeks and the worst of it will die away but really it all just moves on to the next big thing and starts all over again. It's a real shame that so many sites, especially the geekier ones, have now descended to the level of the schoolyard but there you go.

I've been around here since I first started using Macs and I remember every since my first iPod people were complaining about how the backs scratched, etc..

Easiest thing to do is just enjoy your product(s).

Honestly the complaints actually help.

I'm almost tempted to cancel my account because I'm sick of reading about all these complaints. If you don't like your phone then take it back. I've been using Apple products for many years, and I am fully confident Apple will make this right one way or another. Just have to give it a little time. The phone only came out six days ago! I'm certain Apple has every available engineer working on a solution. Lets just have a little patience please. I'm not even going to enter the forums for a while until all this non-sense blows over. See y'all in a couple weeks.

Brandon

Good and don't come back. Here is a thought DON'T read the forum posts about complaints.

I'll be perfectly honest: I stopped reading right there, thanks.

I got my answer, exactly what I expected.

Thanks for proving my original point. Dead on to the reply I'm expecting. ;)

I took your request seriously and answer for the sake of discussion. Look where we are now with the response. :) I rest my case. hehehe...

I'll just stop here. You're right, I'm wrong for thinking that way. ;)

Go ahead and quit then...Ohhh boy now I'm going to quit because I'm sick and tired of reading post about people who are tried of hearing people complain about people complaining. lol

Yes new users who expect to get what they pay for and don't just bend over to Steve Jobs.

2 things.

1. if those users dont do enough research for their product to find out how it works/flaws/etc then dont like it when it doesnt do what they want - that is only their fault. i am sick and tired of people coming on here listing a flaw that has gone around the forums for months!

2. if they have a gripe with the product they should be going to apple and asking for a refund/replacement - not coming on here and having a total bitch. sure, any sort of input for a prodiuct is nice but bitching about it till its dead is not!

Brandon, I know this has to have been said before (I haven't read beyond your post). If you don't like the complaints, don't read the most likely "complaint" threads.

And, I'll take you at your thread title, I dare you to quit MacRumors. ;)

WARNING: The following post is full of venting frustration and will not be appreciated by many (but hey at least I didn't post a new thread for it)

Good lord I nearly can't take it any more. Every thread ends up with a "if only it worked as a phone" or "at least droid can make calls". Seriously people we don't need it in every freaking thread, it is as pointless as all the people that are whining about the whiners (including myself now I suppose). We all know there is a problem with the phone for some users (no I will not say all or most) but the key here is that we already KNOW it. We have no need to be reminded in every freaking thread that it is a problem. I just want to shout "THIS IS COMPLETELY NEW INFORMATION!!!" every time someone posts this nonsense. I also don't understand what the point of all the droid fans coming here is, if you like the droid better please by all means have fun and get one but I honestly doubt I could care any less about your reasoning for deciding that the iphone sucks and the (evo, incredible, droid X) is better. No wonder there are so many "cool story bros" lately because it is so annoying sorting through the constant posts that seem so worthless.

Yeah yeah I know don't read them, but at this point there is almost nothing constructive or interesting to read in the iphone forum because it is filled with people whining about reception and others whining about the whiners! ahhhh :mad::mad::mad:

Ok I feel a tiny bit better now

It seems DoFoT9 has already partly answered for me.

To answer your question... We can clearly see which type of demographic Apple is aiming their products at. Sure, anyone can buy an Apple product, but we clearly see that Apple has put MUCH thoughts into aesthetic and quality material into their products AND charge a hefty premium. This premium will drive the uneducated low class away in droves... Sure they would love to own one, but it's VERY unlikely they'll shell out to buy one. There are only a few groups of people who will shell out that premium:

1) Rich people is generally the higher class folks, but I'll concede that there are plenty of shallow minded rich folks, too. However, when we think rich folks... we think classy high class.

2) People who appreciate and value beauty. Anyone can appreciate things of beauty, but only those who truly value them will shell out money to own said things of beauty. Think paintings... Why do high class people buy them and why do common folks think it's absurd to spend $$$ on a painting to... just let it sit there and.... to be looked at? I think it's safe to say that anyone who's willing to shell out money to own a thing of beauty has some part of a classy eye, which, I think, generally are of middle class people and above.

3) People who appreciate build quality of a product. Again, back to the premium pricing of Apple products... Usually educated people value their money investments in products that will last over a cheap working product that will require replacements more often. I'm sure we've all heard of the reaction of... "I can buy TWO laptop PCs with that money you just spend on your MacBook Pro!"

So really. I don't see how it's so hard to believe that someone like myself would get the impression that Apple product users are generally a cut above the average population in terms of intelligence and ETIQUETTE.

For the record... I'm by no mean an Apple "fanboy" defending the Apple's "prestigious high horse"... My main desktop system is a custom built Intel Core i7. My laptop is a MacBook Pro. And my soon to be phone is the iPhone 4. I go where power/performance or just "best of the crop" are in general.

So there you have it. You asked why I have such views. There's my answer. ;)

This is the funniest thing I've ever read. Unintentionally so, obviously.

Your grammar and punctuation are atrocious. You don't sound particularly bright. If Apple is for the more intelligent people in society, you need to return all of your Apple products, pal.

Wow 120 posts in response to some drama queen saying he's leaving a website? We really are bored! Look OP, hopefully by now you've gotten the attention and clarity you needed to make a decision about returning to a website or not. I wish you all the best.
