...so you got a **** repair from a 3rd party vendor you were trying to cut corners with in the first place...

...that was a gamble you decided to take on your own to "save time" then you lost it and destroyed your machine...

wow so that ='s all apples fault for listing that 3rd party vendor as a repair place, sorry but take responsibility for your own actions = no one wants to take responsibility for their own actions any more = its sad...

It is Apple's fault. They shouldn't authorize service providers that don't fix computers, and instead break them.

not everyone has an Apple store next door, so they have to go to these shops.

Apple is responsible for getting his computer fixed if it's broken (if there is warranty) and as this was an authorized shop, Apple is still held accountable.

whether or whether not he didn't want to travel, the whole point of this was that it WAS a shop that Apple has 'authorized' so they are fully responsible for any damage this shop makes. let apple deal with the customer and they can take proper action against the shop.

OP, don't worry. if you talk to the right people I'm sure you will likely get a new machine.

I feel horrible for you dude, that "fix" you received from the company is nothing short of criminal.

But punching your screen... You might has well have set $2000 on fire. Twice.

Yea, but it felt soo good afterwards, it was practically asking for it.

I was cutting no corners, I still have Apple Care, and some certified chums at Secant thought it was a good idea to rip me off with older used parts.

Thank you, for your support, you are absolutely right.

I'm glad you see the other side to this situation as well. I just hope it doesn't have to escalate to me having to post a video of me dragging the thing behind my car. Which I am fully prepared to do.

User Damage, video:
3:30: "I think I just [broke something else], oh well"

Funny you should point that out. The switch was broken when I got it from Secant (said that in the video) and in order for me to keep the plug in , I had to use the duct tape that it was stuck to when I pulled it out.

OP Just show apple the youtube video im sure they will replace your machine right away! :)

Well, since you broke it, nothing will be done about it by anyone.

Ever heard of patience?

And what's the point of the video? You said the damage is by third party, but then you CONFIRMED that you damaged it. Therefore, it's unclear what is actually caused by the third party repair shop.

Oh yeah, the Ferrari repair shop broke this:

Not to sound like an ass, but this seems more like it's your fault.

You're trying to blame Apple for everything here. It's quite obvious. In fact, I can almost see the transformation into an anti-apple zealot. Hold on there cowboy though, a couple of things need to be addressed first.

1) Never send ANYTHING to a third party. Ever. If its not a scam, its ****** service performed by some "trained" teenager with little to no tech experience. Always send it to Apple, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE APPLECARE. Had you brought it to a store, everything would have been fixed, fine, and dandy, in a shorter turnaround frame with good quality work. Of course that assumes that you can get to a store, but you didn't indicate whether this was the case or not. Judging by your lack of clarity, I would think that it was the case-- you just got cheap and/or lazy. But that's just my assumptions.

2) It sounds like you have anger issues. I can't for the life of me think of a moment when I would contemplate punching my screen, or the drywall for that matter-- I don't know why you thought punching a $2000 laptop was a good idea at that instant. You might want to consider therapy if these instances occur elsewhere in your life. If you like punching things when your angry, try a punching bag out. Or you could find something else constructive that relieves your stress/anger.

^ seriously, everyone in here saying omg OP apple will fix it for you now blah blah... really? i beg to differ.

It is clearly OP's fault for throwing a toddler tantrum. It's black and white (his screen is also lol) OP is in the wrong for busting his screen and acting like a baby.

If OP had received bad repairs and then sent it to apple there would be no issue. That's not what happened here. ;)

stop acting retarded, why on earth would you think it would be ok to use duct tape on your laptop? you should have sent it in to apple and reported the issue with the third party repair service.

...you destroyed what evidence of a crap repair job the facility did... you wanted to save ~1 week of repair time... YOU should have contacted apple to for a mail in repair...or you should have contacted apple for the mail in repair to your 3rd party poor repair before destroying your Mac yourself.

I live in Japan and don't want to take a 2 hour train ride each way to the nearest apple store so I use the mail in method when needed...

Go buy a new PC or Mac and take care of it better...

You could be right, and I'd be out a Macbook Pro for a little bit till I ordered replacement parts and repaired it myself... But it all started as an Apple issue.

The point of the video was simply to give a glimpse to whoever views the video how upset someone can get over ****** customer service. I'm glad I recorded myself after I punched my laptop because I was a lot more calm than I would have been talking about the same issues had I not.

Poor Ferrari... :p

Already cleared this up in earlier topics. They were listed on Apple's website as certified Appler service providers.

http://www.apple.com/buy/locator/service/

Search Kalamazoo, MI. Secant Technologies comes up first.

No anger issues, Apple issues. I have grief with Apple, I'm not trying to justify punching my $2500 2 year old Macbook Pro. I'm trying to justify expression of rage towards big corporations that produce mediocre but overpriced technology that shouldn't exist in the first place.

I already talked with a manager named Kenny at Apple and he said he'd call me at 9:30 Am this upcoming Monday, after reporting the issue, to put me in touch with Customer Service to report the issues with Secant Technologies and provide me with solution's for the situation. Nothing exact yet, but I'm hoping to receive some closure on the issue of the quality of Apple's customer service.

If they refuse to repair my Macbook pro (screen included) I will just have to post a video of me dragging it behind my car, and go back to working on my PC.

Duct tape, it fixes everything! Except for punched in screens, unfortunately.

I think I'm done with buying new Apple products... hahaha

yuk yuk yuk.

Duct tape, it fixes everything!

No. It won't heal your wounds.

On a serious note, while I understand your frustration, you shouldn't have punched your laptop... Apple may not be able to tell if Secant guys did a bad job in the first place.

Hopefully they will. Everything was recorded, too, I have all the receipts of BRAND NEW parts they ordered (THROUGH APPLE), and Apple will know that the parts on my Macbook Pro are not only NOT the ones ordered, but are in worse condition then the original parts.

There is no reason for me to have a laptop in the condition that it is currently in 1 month after receiving NEW parts for my Macbook Pro. Like I said in the video, after the new parts were installed, the laptop still didn't work, and I received my laptop again the 2nd time with older more damaged parts.

I'm certain Apple won't fix it now that you have punched the screen and done that too it as it is now classed as user damage.

If you had of just kept calm and took it to an Apple Store and explain what this third party authorised Apple service place did to your MBP then they would have fixed it and maybe gave you something extra for your trouble.

But good luck on getting it repaired anyway. :)

We'll see what they say on Monday. Everyone wins either way, I mean who doesn't want to see a Macbook Pro get dragged behind a car?

sounds like a waste of time.

djdtm, I hope you file a complaint with the better business bureau. Complaints like yours drive criminal businesses like Secant Technologies out of business.

As much as I feel for bad CS, you completely invalidated your entire case by destroying your computer.

So a third party company did a bad repair, you destroyed your computer, and now you expect Apple to fix it? seriously?

He could claim he received the computer from Secant Technologies like that.

Not that there is much difference in his claim.

Well, it sounds like they messed up tons of other things, why not just claim the screen came back cracked as well?

What difference does it make?

Jesus christ, seriously? He's asking how old you are because you have the reasoning abilities and social conscience of a 6 year old. He is curious if that is true. If not, prove him wrong and post your age.

I'm just being pragmatic

And I am an adult.

Threaten them with legal action and they'll start acting, even if you don't intend to take it through.
