I'm trying to understand why you even accepted the computer back from Secant when it was a pile of old parts held together with duct tape. I'm not blaming you for the problems with Secant, but it seems like there is a better way to handle this that doesn't involve you further breaking your computer and expecting Apple to fix it.

Well, it sounds like they messed up tons of other things, why not just claim the screen came back cracked as well?

What difference does it make?

why would you tell the OP to commit a felony?

thats the difference it would make... 16 ok your just a teenager messing around..

18+ wtf are you thinking? are you also retarded like the OP?

Obviously, my suggestion isn't very ethical.

I suggest you consult a dictionary before you go around telling people they are misusing words.

I just disagree on your usage. Fraud does not seem very *practical* to me.

At least you know its bad suggestion.

I would have asked for a replacement from Apple instead of destroying you computer.

we will see who wins monday lol. and who does wnat to see a macbook pro dragged behind a car?

sounds like a waste of time.

Waste of time, yes, but entertaining, also yes.

djdtm, I hope you file a complaint with the better business bureau. Complaints like yours drive criminal businesses like Secant Technologies out of business.

I'll see to it. Absolutely.

As much as I feel for bad CS, you completely invalidated your entire case by destroying your computer.

So a third party company did a bad repair, you destroyed your computer, and now you expect Apple to fix it? seriously?

I still have "Apple Care", they better do SOMETHING.

He could claim he received the computer from Secant Technologies like that.

Not that there is much difference in his claim.

Nah, I punched the screen making a statement against poor customer service. It's not that abstract. This forum thread is the 2nd half to my statement. I could have sent it to Apple and have waited EVEN LONGER even after having sent it to Secant, but my frustrations were beyond the situation, I settled with working with the piece of **** I was returned with. Remember, they were CERTIFIED.

Threaten them with legal action and they'll start acting, even if you don't intend to take it through.

Legal action maybe, but I'd rather continue to tell my story, I've got PLENTY of dirt on how ****** Apples are, WE ALL DO. Take for example the lack of defragging options:

Because I had already waited half a month, and I needed it desperately, that I settled for the ****** condition it was returned to me in, and the guy's at Secant knew my situation and took advantage of it. Everyone wan'ts to break their Mac at some point. I'm just letting them live vicariously through me.

Wow dude, I'm sorry to hear about what happened to your MBP. :( I know I would be upset... for christ's sake you had to duct tape the thing together!

Completely outraged, before making a scene when the guy at Secant handed it off to me, I pointed out that the topcase was ****ed up. And he said, "That's wierd its supposed to be a new one." Lying to my face.

I would have asked for a replacement from Apple instead of destroying you computer.

The punch is the climatic ending to my problematic Mac.

Apple Care only has to replace the ****** parts that Secant put in. You can pay for the screen yourself

All I gotta say is good luck with Apple doing anything for you now that you damaged the macbook yourself.

From what I understand, Applecare does not cover abuse and I'm pretty sure like water damage, it invalidates your applecare entirely. On top of that, it will put question your claim of the other damage the repair place did cause they'll say, "how are we sure the user didn't do that too and is just blaming us?" Sorry, but it will put at least a little shadow of doubt on your story.

Honestly, if we want to talk pragmatic, maybe you should have punched a pillow a few times, calmed down, and then talked to apple about it and wait on destroying your computer until you've entirely given up on anyone helping you or the computer ever working right again (basically after you buy another computer to replace it).

Now you've just assured you're not going to get help besides being told to buy a new computer (I bet at this point that computer is so destroyed that it will be just as expensive if not cheaper to buy a new one unless you want to fix it yourself. Even then, it seems you're probably going to be building a whole new computer by parts cause what isn't destroyed on that now?).

You might want to look into getting help with impulse control. You'll find that you'll reduce the amount of stress in your life when you aren't causing some of it yourself ;).

You make valid points. I'll hear what they say on Monday. If they say no, then everyone gets to see me drag my Macbook Pro behind a car.

Maybe I should have not even done anything, and continued wasting my time with Apple? At least now I've enabled myself some other options than continue to suffer with my Macbook Pro. Who said the situation I'm in was a bad situation? Maybe I've been needing a vacation. :p

Now I think I've ruined my life.
Seriously, I don't get the point of what you did but frankly if your life is ruined over a computer then I think that $2k you likely spent on the machine should be used on getting professional help. Clearly the repair center did a terrible job and I'm sorry to see that.

If you do chose to drag it behind a car, at least take out the logic board. You can get quit a bit of money for that part if it still works. The links from iFixit have a guide on how to remove the board.

... The power button still works :D

Thank god for that. :p

Ruined at the time, until realized I have another perfectly good PC that I build a year before I bought my Macbook Pro, which really hasn't given me as many issues. hahaha!

Thanks for the tip, logic board and hard drive will be removed... Not trying to shoot myself in the foot... Again. :p

Don't forget the RAM. You can also take out the heatsink, and still sell that. Mind as well NOT destroy the parts that still work.

http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/...2-Duo-Models-A1226-and-A1260-Lower-Case/685/1

Things like the right IO bord, speakers, airport card, cables, and the bottom case can all be sold for parts. Why not just remove the display assembly, and top case, and destroy those, and sell the rest that works?

Sell the computer minus the top case and display. You can sell the bottom case with tr logic board an stuff, and say it only needs a new fan.

I have to go, but I'm going to see if I can find a new top case and display or you. I just new to know what you have. Look at the bottom is it a model A1226 or A1260? Or what does it say. I'm guessing it's one of those.

Well I might as well measure the ROI on selling the parts as opposed to completely destroying the MBP on video for personal reasons. I'll know what I'll end up doing after this Monday's conversation. I'll be happy with whatever I chose to do with my Mac.

My Macbook Pro Model Number is A1260.

The logical thing to do would be to strip it for parts, sell everything and just build a new computer and take everything off the hard drive, but it would be more fun just publish a video of me beating the **** out of it.

Please keep us updated, I'm interested to see how this turns out :)

I will most definitely. As a matter of fact, I've added annotations to link to other videos of other people with defective Macbook Pro's and links within the description to show how prominent the issues are with Macbook Pro's are on the Internet.

Does AppleCare cover mental illness?

As a direct result of poor Apple service? They better!

So lets clarify...

YOU:
-Stuck loads of duct tape in your MBP.
-Decided to put a coin inside your MBP.
-Decided to punch the screen.

Service Provider:
-Fitted bad parts.

And you expect Apple to do something? Let me tell you my story.

First, 6 months of repairs, I've had 4 displays, 2 hard drives, 2 trackpads, a top case, new keyboard. I had to call trading standards (UK version of the better business bureau) to get Apple to do anything. I had to travel 6 hours in total to and from Apple stores to get a repair done. And only last week did they offer to replace my MBP with a brand new Core i7.

I lost money myself by not having access to my Mac, as I couldn't complete any projects, but patience is a virtue.

In the end:
-You have nobody to blame but yourself.
-Don't expect apple to do anything for you, if you didn't damage the unit by punching it, putting a coin and duct tape in it, and just did the sensible thing and called apple Customer Relations, then you will have had a case.
-If you actually took photos/video evidence BEFORE you punched the unit (straight after receiving it from the 3rd party) then you would have had a case.

You failed to do these things, so you have nobody to blame but yourself.

It's going to be easier for you to salvage what parts you can, sell them, and purchase a new computer, rather than acting like an imbosile and pompous jerk saying that this is :apple: fault.

Good Day..
:apple:

As fun a breaking things is, if you can get several hundred dollars for the logic board and a decent amount for tr bottom case and heatsink, who not sell them? Look online and type in MacBook Pro A1260 (CPU speed) logic board, an see how much they go for. You can get some $$$ and put it forwards a new computer. It's much. SMARTER to do that, than DESTROYING perfectly functional parts that are worth money... Lots of money.

Ok, ok, you got me. I'll do some research first. :)

How are Apple walking over me? I never bought AppleCare, and they're replacing my 1Year old £1499GBP Mac for a brand spanking new £1799GBP Mac? What logic are you using for everything to do with this incident?
