We have been lucky that every iphone launch maybe had a minor software bug that was easy to patch.

That changed with the iPhone 15 pro.

Phones overheating. BMW vehicles bricking the NFC chip. Powerbanks being charged by the iPhone instead of the other way around. OLED Burn-in.

I feel that this specific product has one of the worst product launches Apple has ever had. I think the product was released before it was ready.

Will the executive chef at Apple figure out how to fix this dumpster fire?
Nonsense.

I understand now that my thinking has been wrong. That is what this thread has taught me.

This year’s iPhones:

There is no heating problem.

The back glass will never break.

No burn in or image retention.

No gaps.

NFC will never fail!

PVC does not scratch and there was never any fingerprint residue.

Any issues are all third party apps.

Tim Cook is a God!

Everyone Rejoice!

There is no heating problem.

Back glass can break if you drop your phone.

There is no burn-in or image retention

Some units may have small gaps

NFC reportedly fails when used in some BMW cars

PVC scratches and fingerprints are visible. Unless you get Natural Titanium or White.

Heating issues were mostly due to 3rd party apps, yes, for some users. Instagram app is a mess.

Tim Cool is the CEO of Apple.

There. Not as bombastic as yours, but truth rarely is. As far as iPhones go, I think 15 Pro will end up as one of my favorite ones, up there with 4 and X.

I did with the unboxtherapy video and you criticized me for posting that when I was just being responsible and linking all those tests regardless of outcome…
FYI "linking all those tests" is not "just being responsible" when said tests were mostly created to just sensationalize. It is trolling.

This is why a yearly release is starting to become more of a pain point. I do not think, Apple, Samsung or the rest can handle pumping phones out within a year or a little less. It should be a tick tock cycle. Hardware one year, second year the software improves and is more stable. The whole " beta for 3 months with an ever growing list of hardware leads to more a mess.
I like this idea. Take more time to develop and test new features. There's really no need to upgrade yearly anymore, but of course the business model mandates annual releases for profits. It is up to the consumer to speak with our wallets. As long as we all succumb to the upgrade cycle then we're just feeding the monster.

For the record, my wife's 15 Pro and daughter's 15 have both been fine and trouble-free. Both were delivered on launch day and they both love their new iPhones and were totally unaware of the overheating affecting a subset of users. Sounds like there are some software bugs to work out for sure but the 15 series iPhones seem like a fine product overall.

Sorry but don’t agree completely. A lot of the issues you describe are magnified by click bait Yters wanting … clicks. While Apple did not have a perfect launch they do however fix issues when they can.

Yes, I should have been banned for doing so!

I have seen the light!

It's just bad optics even if it has nothing to do with titanium. When people hear titanium they expect a stronger phone or at least the one that is the same as the previous model. Sure maybe the rounded corners and better reparability are to blame, but again, the optics of it all are just not in Apple's favor.
That does look worse for the 15, but it's also important to remember to take these sort of super-loose drop-tests with a truckload of salt. For a start, he's dropping these phones onto an uneven cobbled/brick surface, and they're not even landing at the same angles half the time. No wonder they perform differently. About the only thing you can really take away from this is that sometimes glass breaks and metal gets scuffed when you drop it on the street.

MKBHD cracked his phone too easily, which he claims has never happened before. He also mentioned sudden heating up for no reason and losing 5 or 10% of battery quickly, which is consistent with reports online.
That's also not really a big deal. He says right there in the bit you linked to that he rarely drops his phones, and the other host said that the last phone he dropped was a Pixel while getting into a car, and that device also had screen issues after being dropped. This is just a random anecdote — sometimes things break when you drop them.

I'm not saying that the 15 Pro is unequivocally the best built iPhone ever or that it has no flaws, but soooo much of what's going around is people freaking out over a handful of isolated incidents of phones breaking. Phones break every year, I don't think there's any meaningful evidence out there that the 15 Pros are any worse than previous phones in normal use (and no, JerryRig snapping a phone in half is not normal use).

I think the issues you describe are the result of this ridiculous annual new iPhone cycle. What makes this release a let down for me is how incremental and small the improvements are. It makes for very boring product releases. 5x Zoom is not ground breaking. Android phones do double. The big feature is probably it's lightweight design. But this seems rushed as well because it is failing the most gentle fall tests and the back glass shatters so easily.

They need to go back to brand new big impact releases every 2 years with "S" releases in between. Give us something to be excited about every 2 years. Put all R&D into a newly designed and well tested product every two years. Even Jobs, who pushed everyone to their limits, worked to this release cycle.

We should march on Washington and demand that those YouTubers and news agencies be revealed for the corrupt entities they are because they reported negatively on the iPhone (Macrumors excepted). Hopefully prison sentences for those that do so. Send a message for those that dare speak their mind. - they are obviously delusional, mentally ill, corrupt, or all of the above at the same time.

Start making those placards, and the truth will be revealed. All praise Apple excellence and perfection! 👍

Another troll-post, the army of trolls is really active these days :D
seems to me every "Mac" website is online to promote amazon sales ONLY,
except for one.
78% of the article of one prominent Mac site posted negative apple reviews and belly aching the first 3 month this year.

🙄 Just because I don't agree with you doesn't make me a blind fanatic. I'm plenty critical of Apple, but I try to make decisions based on useful evidence, not just a bunch of random anecdotes and people pointlessly destroying devices.

Yeah it’s unfortunate that the barrier to entry for making YouTube videos so low. If I see another half-arsed MagSafe test involving some random prop, I’m going to puke. There’s so much wrong with the methodologies that YouTubers use to test these products.

Interesting that the publication that doesn’t accept advertising (consumer reports) performed controlled tests that refuted the viral videos you are such a strong proponent of.

They used to pay for things from subscriptions. Those have dried up so it’s grants and donations. They are not for profit but large donations and grants can bias depending on who those are. But I haven't looked into that. BTW: There are some YouTubers that operate credibly also.
