The reviews make it obvious, this update sucks. I'll stick with my Series 6.

While I’m sure we all appreciate you keeping us in the loop regarding your purchasing plans, with hundreds of millions of people buying Apple products each year I’m not sure that kind of inclusiveness scales…

Maybe wait to start a thread until you have something interesting to share?

Upgrading from a 3 so big update for me. But even if I had a 6, a different case material this go round plus the enhanced display features could still make this a noticeable hardware update. To each their own though 👍 Hey, there’s always other things to splash some cash on!
(Edit: I meant if you choose a different case material)

I’m also upgrading from a Series 4. Seems like the right length of time to get a good, noticeable update and the battery life is getting to the point where it doesn’t get through the day if I do a 30 min workout.

From a S5 or S6, I think it’s a much harder decision.

What is different about the case material? Source please..

I’m sticking with my series 4 for another year. I couldn’t justify the upgrade this year. I was hoping they did the re-design thing but it’s just a no-go from my end. This coming from a guy who updates his stuff annually (minus the watch).
I've used the trade-in to update every other year, from Series 2 to 4 to 6. I get good value from the trade-ins, so I don't feel like I'm overspending by paying full price for the watch. Most likely, I'll upgrade to the 8 when it comes out, trading in my 6. People should check the trade-in price for their current devices when considering upgrades, if you're on the fence about whether the price is worth it.

Why are ppl triggered that he canceled lol he's right its not worth the upgrade from a series 6, all the differences you wont even notice it....that said if this is your first apple watch OR you have a series 1-3 then I believe this is worth it for you but if you have series 4-6 this isn't a big upgrade IMO...

I'm sticking with my S4 too. The battery is nearly shot, but $70 for a new battery is worth it to me. I don't find the additional features of S5, S6, or S7 to be worth the price, personally. We'll see what S8 holds next year. Bigger screen? Who cares, it's still a small watch; I'm not typing messages or watching movies. Always-on display? Who cares, it turns on reliably any time I want to look at it just as my S0 before did. What else is there, really?

I was holding off on my battery service with the intention of going for the S7. But there just wasn't much to get excited about. I think even Apple agrees with that statement given their lackluster rollout. I'm not saying it's a bad product; it's just so iterative that there's almost no point in upgrading for a current Watch owner.

Unless one sells privately and gets top dollar as opposed to trade in value.

That's obviously an option, too, but I'd rather not deal with the hassle of setting up and negotiating a sale. Trade-in takes an extra minute during the order process, and you get to keep the old watch until the new one arrives, make sure your new watch is set up and working properly before you send in the old one.

Reviews definitely aren’t selling it very well. So angry I sold my S6 when the leaks hit. Now I have nothing. S7 comes on Friday, BUT I can get a new S6 from a local sale for $260. Torn whether to cancel or not.

While I did order a series 7, if they had done the new case design I would have sailed to China to get one!

the best thing to do is to review the thought process you went through to get where you are at now and then do a "Lessons learned" ...

I agree not a big change but I want two watches, my dress up watch is a SSS3 and my knock around is a alum SG 5, I am keeping the 5 but really wanted the gold SS so that is what I am getting while the prices are still the same this year as last. I totally expect prices for the watch especially the ti and SS to go up quite a bit with the 8 so feel this year was the right time.

I'm on Series 4 and I'm also surprisingly on the fence (which is saying something, because I had pegged this as a definite upgrade year for me).

At this point in the evolution of extreme high tech devices, the expectation of quantum leaps in performance and features year to year are getting smaller and smaller. One must do what best suits ones expectations. I current have a series 5 Gold SS. It does everything I need it to do. The gold finish is beautiful and it matches my gold iPone 12 Pro. Being older I have no need to upgrade at this time or every year. I will keep my devices until they no longer function as designed.
