I just cancelled my order from Apple too, but... only because it would have arrived in November, while on Amazon is immediately available (at least in Italy... don't rush, they are already out of stock again!) and it will arrive on October 19th.

Honestly I'm happier in this way: I will get it sooner and I will have 30 days return instead of 14.

I just returned my starlight aluminum series 7. I‘ve always had the silver aluminum watch and had hoped that the new color is not too much different. Unfortunately I don‘t like it at all. It‘s just too beige / rose gold . I hate that apple forces you to buy a stainless steel watch if you want silver. I just want an aluminum watch in silver, no other material.
Also the new display didn’t impress me. Compared to series 6 you can definitely see that the display lies far more inside the body and there‘s a bigger distance between the glass and the oled. Therefore the display didn’t seem to be as sharp as the series 6‘s display. It was even a bit darker in direct comparison to the series 6. I was really looking forward to the bigger display 🤷🏻‍♂️ Well, I think I just stick with my series 6 and will see what next years’ series 8 will bring.

Better look next time, thanks for the photo, color on the 7 looks great to me.

I agree on the silver aluminum vs. starlight aluminum. Your note on the display is very interesting. That was really the only reason I was going to replace my S6 with a S7. If it's not as sharp, then it's a whole lot less attractive. I have a silver SS S7 available for pickup and was going to trade in my S6. I think I'll take a careful look this morning before I do anything, especially trade in the S6.

The problem is yours, some of you guys update your gadgets every year, this is nonsense. There's no other gadget you replace every year. This is consumism unleashed. And even more, we already knew Series 7 changes were insignificant.

Don’t shoot the messenger.

This update sucks and is virtually useless for a Series 6 owner.

Shame on you Apple.
There is no messenger. It's an utterly useless thread to open in the first place.

What are we all going to to about each and every decision made by people around the world?

Has the poster even returned to comment further? What a piece of trash information.

Btw.. I'm cancelling my toilet - come change my diaper.

Maybe I‘m just super picky but the display looked odd to me. Like a magnifying glass sitting on top of the oled display. Don‘t get me wrong. It was still perfectly readable. Just a tiny bit less sharp than the series 6. Since the oled itself is flat and doesn‘t curve this might be the reason for the effect.

Nobody has to upgrade every year. Nobody even has to buy an apple watch at all. But I think if you‘re interested in technology and enjoy new gadgets it’s totally fine. And it should be everyone’s own decision.
The upgrade would have cost me 100€ since I could have sold my series 6 for a good price.
Getting a bigger screen, brighter aod, faster charging and a new battery would have been worth the 100€ for me. Unfortunately I don‘t like the new aluminium colors. So I‘m staying with my series 6 for another year.

I stayed put this year. 1st time for the phone. 2nd year in a row with the watch. I am rolling with the 12 pro max and series 5 watch for another year. There was nothing to get excited about….Seems like it is starting to become a recurring theme for Apple…. :(

You needed reviews for that? If there was anything special in 7, they’d show it in the Keynote.

I’m sticking with Series 5, had zero incentive to get 6 or now 7. Even skipping 8 seems fine to me. The Series 5 fits all my workout tracking needs as well as smartwatch needs, which depend mostly on software anyway.

Maybe he hoped for a super secret surprise like an all new health sensor.. 🤨
But yeah, as you said everything is exactly as expected. Don’t understand all the whiners canceling orders after watching the reviews. Hopefully some of you get your watches delivered sooner 😄
I thinks there is a psychology of wanting to have something everybody is raving about. But when the tech pundits don’t rave about it then they see it as less desirable. Kinda like not wanting to date somebody until you see them going out with somebody else, but in reverse.

Personally, I think the OP was smart to cancel because buying a new watch every year is a bit silly. I bought the Series 4 and when the 5 came out it only added always-on display which was cool but not enough to get me to order one. When the 6 came out it was a bit faster and had slightly better sensors but the only significant thing it did more than my series 4 was SpO2 sensing. So again, it felt kinda minor. This makes me curious if the OP upgraded from Series 4 to 5 or 5 to 6 because those upgrades were FAR more underwhelming than getting a 20% larger screen that improves every app on the watch and improves the watch faces.

This new design, admittedly with the same design language as its predecessor is the biggest incremental upgrade in years. Mind you, nothing tops the Series 3 to 4 upgrade yet. That was phenomenal. Better processor, bigger screen and ECG.

If the rumors were true and all we got was that straight-edged design without a bigger screen then I don’t think I would have upgraded. I was not a fan of that design. My watch does not need to look like my phone for the sake of change.

I have a 4 and need the bike workout enhancements. All the other new stuff is gravy. From a 6 I’d say no way. Even the colors this year are meh. No purple?
My only quibbles this year are the colors and the repeat of the SOC non-upgrade that we got with series 5. But coming from my series 4 this is significant.

I wonder where all this murmuring was when the 5 and 6 came out. Those seemed like really minor upgrades to me so I just stayed out with my 4. My series 7 arrives today and I will sell my series 4 to my brother which will be his first Apple Watch. Functionally the 4 is better than an SE because of ECG.

UPDATE: I just got my new Apple Watch Series 7 in midnight color. I can't even notice the blue hue. This makes me happy. It looks way more blue on the website. This new watch looks more black than my Series 4 which definitely looked gray. If you are hoping for a more blue color, then maybe order the blue one.

I'd take that "note" with a grain of salt, given his buyer's remorse. I highly doubt the display is less sharp. That wouldn't make any sense.

I upgrade every year, and it's affordable to upgrade for me. It is not nonsense is what I would say. It might not fit your situation, but please don't proclaim that it's nonsense. I'd counter your point and tell you that you have a thrifty attitude more than any wisdom about whether this is nonsense

I wouldn’t blame my „buyer‘s remorse“. It was just my subjective impression. But if you think about it, 50% thicker glass will probably not have the same clarity, since it will absorb more light from the oled.
