I think it's ok to have both. The do different things for you and that's ok. I can't imagine just have the 12.9 as my only iPad. I use it all day (literally) but when I get home I like to put it on the charger and ignore it til the next day. And forget it on weekends. But my mini gets use in my downtime when I'm not working. I hate my work issued laptop and have found that other than the occasional printing I can use iPad for all my work stuff. I say keep them both if money isn't an issue.

If I had to pick just one for money reasons though, I would say 9.7. That's probably my favorite size.

Do you use the 12.9 iPP all day with the Smart Keyboard (like a laptop)?

I have the Logitech Create. I had the Smart Keyboard for about a week, but I teach Film all day and I spend a lot of my time in the dark. The Smart Keyboard was nearly invisible when the room was dark. I had to return it and get the Create because of the backlighting.

I also use Splashtop to access my MacBook Air that stays at home and occasionally my work laptop that runs Windows. So yeah, I use it all day. It is my favorite Apple product yet.

I must join you here, I also caught that Apple bug. There is no antivirus for iOS so it seems that I am now stuck with it.

I have a MacBook Pro 15" that is now used as a 'desktop' since I mainly use my iPads. The Mac is used to backup my and my families iOS devices, store our photos, convert videos and backup personal content and video on external drives.

As for iOS devices, I started with the original iPhone which was not even available for purchase in my country, but it didn't stop me. I've since upgraded annually except for once when I skipped the iPhone 5s and kept my iPhone 5 for a second year. I currently have the iPhone 6s, but had the 6 Plus last time and while I am used to the 6s size now, I miss the bigger size, so I'm looking forward to an iPhone 7 Plus.

I also have an Apple Watch (stainless steel), Apple TVs 3 and 4.

The iPads that I use now are the 12.9" Pro, 9.7" Pro and mini 2. I just can't pick one size. I wish that I could. I really like the size of the 12.9" Pro for most things....web browsing, games, forums, PIP, magazines, typing, etc. I love to use it at my home computer desk and the lounge room recliner. I can also use it comfortably in bed and often take it to work with me. However, it becomes quite awkward and heavy if I leave work and go shopping. This is where the 9.7" Pro comes in. It is very portable and light. I can do everything on it that I can do on the 12.9" Pro, just on a smaller screen and it's lighter to hold with one hand. (I have rheumatoid arthritis, but I can manage with all iPad sizes by adjusting the way I hold them). Then I have the iPad mini 2. My daughter was using it for a time and I was missing it, but she was struggling with the iPad 2 not being fast and crashing on some games. So when I got the 9.7" Pro, my husband got my Air 2 and she got the Air that I had previously passed to him....so I got the mini 2 back. My thought was that I'd use it in my handbag for portability, but I haven't done so as yet, the 9.7" Pro has actually taken that role, which surprised me since I did use the mini 2 in my handbag prior to having the 12.9" Pro. It's just that the 9.7" Pro now feels so small and light after using the 12.9" Pro, that it feels like a mini now. I have the mini still fully loaded with the main apps that I use, but I have been thinking of using it more for eBooks, forum reading and light games beside my bed.

I just got the ASK today for the 12.9" Pro and this is actually my first post with it. Loving it so far. I would like the keys to be backlit and for an extra row along the top with special iPad functionality, but otherwise I find it great.

So I mainly use the 12.9" and 9.7" iPad Pros....and I love them both, but kind of wish that I didn't since I wonder each morning which one I want to take with me to work for the day and find it a difficult decision. Sometimes I have just taken both. Overkill? Yes it is, but that is why I thought I should join this thread, I can't help it, I just want them all too.

Thanks for joining. I got brave at work today and told some people that I am getting another iPad and they were actually pretty nice about it for once. I don't think I can really shock them any more.

Lol, my co-workers just automatically assume I buy whatever product Apple has announced. They're more shocked when I don't (recently, I've spent money on vacations in-lieu of getting Apple's latest and greatest). Of course, I've got a number of Millionaire Next Door-type co-workers who save 50+% of their income so compared to them, I'm quite spendy. :p

I really feel like my coworkers are judgy sometimes, because they would do different things with their money. Also, I have two small children and I think my coworkers feel it's irresponsible for a mother to spend her money that way.

Here's a funny. One guy I worked with cracked a joke about a new iPhone in September and I was like, duh, there's always a new iPhone in September. Then I told him how much I love iPhone season. I said there's iPhone, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas. The holiday season. :)

Your co-workers are just full of haterade...

Thanks for creating this thread. Sometimes I feel a bit embarrassed or guilty when I'm about to buy yet another iPad....but I find that my work colleagues and family are so use to me buying them that they just expect it anyway. I'm the 'go to' person to ask for advice regarding which iPad would suit them best and I feel that I can make them a suitable recommendation, but it seems that I can't do the same for myself, I just want them all and to cover each kind of use case with the most suitable device for that situation.

Sometimes I feel that the 9.7" is the ideal size for my usage, as a take everywhere device, but then I enjoy an evening with my 12.9" and change my mind again. The 12.9" is feeling more and more like the best size as time goes on, so I wonder where I will be in a few years time, which devices I will upgrade or keep as my main iPad. Quite possibly still all sizes, or at least the 9.7" and 12.9".

I can see the rationale for having one in each size. For me, the mini would be the least likely as I have a 6+ phone - but I do some iOS development at work and have one to test things on so I have the full spectrum covered!

Wow! I wonder what kind of work he does to need to have two? And out in public no doubt. I guess. Just need to let my freak flag fly and haul my iPads around all the time.

They're kind of like potato chips...

Looked like some kind of investment/financial research. He needed 2 screens so why not 2 iPads. I actually have seen people with more than one iPad when writing papers/doing research but not 2 iPad Pro's.

We will soon be replacing our iPad 2 with the 9.7" iPad Pro and Apple Pencil. My family will be using it the most, but I plan on 'borrowing' it as much as possible. Then in the Fall, I'll be getting the 12.9" version with Smart Keyboard. I have a feeling I'll be sharing time with it with my son as he's very much into drawing.

You are so nice! I think this is awesome. I don't share my devices very often because am selfish. :) My husband has no interest in having an iPad. He has a dell computer that does everything he needs, which isn't much. My son gets my hand me downs. He is 5 and loves the iPad. He gets one hour a day on my old iPad Air 2. My daughter has a little iPad mini 1 with a horrible cracked screen but she is only 3 and doesn't ever really use it.

I'm in the situation as I type where I WANT the 12.9 iPad Pro, I messed with it a few days ago, it's beautiful! Right now I on Amazon and see a SG Pro, 32GB for $695 (Sale - says "List Price pf $729...yet Apple claims $799 for it)
Anyway, thats tempting alone..I also accumulated 230.00 in Gift cards from Bday and Xmas, small design projects I would do for for others as a thank you" take in 2 day shipping, 13 bucks in change..I'll get it Sun. Yeah, it seems like too damn good to be true.

Struggle and as usual my indecision kicks in
"Do i REALLY need it?" can I wait until the price drops more? Is the smaller new 9in Pro any better...weighing these options and I better decide fast. 30min ago there were 8 left, now I see 5 are lef.)

Ugh, I am so dangerous with Amazon and spur of the second purchases..lol ugh

If you have $200+ In gift cards I say go for it! Maybe I am an enabler, but the 12.9 inch iPad Pro is really wonderful. I struggled for months with the decision before I bought it and I love it more than any other apple product I own. I recommend it to everyone I know. Do it! Sunday will be a great day for you!

UPS just delivered my iPad Pro 12.9 and iPad Mini 4.
The 12.9 is really a great device. Ive been waiting for something like this since the OG iPad was announced.
The size and Pencil make it really easy to draw all day.
The easy part is buying the devices the harder part for me is finding the right cases/sleeves
Now Im thinking of getting the 9.7 to complete the family

Yes. You need the 9.7. Mine will be here Monday and I can't wait.

Well, between what I have purchased for my children, grandchildren and myself over the years, I am sure I could win a prize for the most Apple products! I'm not sure I could even begin to name everything, but I'm gonna try. Let me just say that my first experience with Apple came about because I kept having virus issues on my Windows computer (probably around 12-14 years ago). My computer repairman told me if I didn't want to worry about viruses, I should get a Mac, and I did.

My first Apple product was a used eMac I bought off eBay. From there, we have had:

iPod minis x 4
iPod video x 2
iPod nanos x 2
iPod shuffles x I can't even remember how many - my husband STILL uses one every time he cuts grass
iPod touch x 2
iBook laptops x 4
iMac (I'm on my third and 2 of my daughters have them also)
MacBook x 2
MacBook Pro x 1

iPads (I had every one up to Air 2)
iPad minis (I had one, 2 of my kids had them, and all 5 of my grandkids have them - 1st-3rd gen)
iPad Pro 12.9

Apple TV x 3 (I have one and bought each of my sons-in-law one for Christmas)

iPhones - I honestly don't think I could count the iPhones we have had, but suffice it to say we have had multiples of all generations

Apple Watch (bought off eBay and sold, but am planning to purchase a new one this fall)

At this moment, I have a 6S+, a 12.9" iPP, an iMac, and Apple TV, and each of my daughters has an iPhone 6 or 6+ as well as their spouses (if married), an iMac, Apple TV, and all of my grandkids (including the 4 month old) have iPads (the babies watch Fisher price apps in the car to keep them from crying). The older 3 grandkids (4,3 and 3) have iPad mini 2s/3s and the babies have first generation minis (deprived of the retina). ;-p I'm actually planning on upgrading the older 3 grandkids to mini 4s within the year, and the babies will get the 2s.

I'm not sure this is everything, but it's close. And when I go in the Apple Store, I just want more! It truly is a sickness!!
