ATT waived fees for me and anyone I know with iphone5/att. I use to be on Verizon before and I didn't find anything about better care. Same. ATT provides you with cheaper data plans, rollover min, earlier upgrade option, GSM vs dead old CDMA. I could use hotspot to my laptop and browse web and talk over my phone same time. HUGE ADVANTAGE!!! Also I differently feel as ATT advantage is when I travel Europe and my phone works in any country I stopped including data over 3g.
Better signal and no call drops for Verizon? Maybe somewhere in Arizona or Montana but not in NY/NJ/CT area. Same dead spots for any of them.

We must have different phone reception then. When I was in NY with AT&T I was struggling to get signal, even in most parts of nj i traveled to. With Verizon I manage to get signal, at least more than I had with AT&T. My LTE coverage outside is nothing to fret about, Only when I'm inside buildings does my lte drop sometimes to 2-3 bars. I also didn't wanna wait a few months for the iPhone 5 when my 4 was getting vastly outdated from the battery dying, lack of support, that annoying paint chip, etc. I was considering the switch to Verizon too.

They're both overpriced and they both have flaws. I'm not in any way advocating Sprint or T-Mobile either, just for the record.

I was on AT&T for 4 years. I had great service at times (coverage in Providence was excellent). Their network is blazing fast when not congested. The congestion, however, is the killer. Anytime I went to a baseball game, anytime I was in Boston, NYC, or Chicago, I saw full signal and no data flow whatsoever. It's pretty frustrating to sit in Fenway Park or Wrigley Field with 5 bars of AT&T 3G and be unable to load an email, or even send a text.

I switched to Verizon this summer and dealt with their reliable and slow 3G network. I would not have stayed on Verizon if I knew that their 3G speeds would not soon be replaced with LTE. Verizon's LTE coverage is excellent, and their network is far more reliable and resistant to problems caused by congestion. Their call quality is superior as well.

The biggest consideration when choosing between those two (since their prices are essentially the same) is, of course, the coverage and service quality in/around your home and the city you live in/near.

It always amazes me when people defend Verizon or AT&T like they are getting paid to do it. Everyone chooses a carrier for one reason or another. Not really sure why it's such a big deal. Just pick the one that gives you the best service in your usual areas, no?

I made the switch back to Verizon as well and, besides no voice & data, I'm quite happy to be back. :)

HAHAHA you cant talk on the phone and surf the web at the same time. ATT RULES. WHO AGREES? Switch back

At least Verizon gives signal mostly everywhere lol and they aren't restricting data usage. I also read somewhere AT&T paid the least taxes and gave the most money to politicians or something.
Doesn't congress pass the tax code? Why would you hold a corporation, or an individual, responsible for paying the taxes that the tax code and the IRS says they owe. AT&T doesn't decide how much taxes they pay any more than you do. Although I suspect based on that statement that you are among the 50% that pay none.

of course vzw is known for tax evasion and union-busting too so it just came down to the less evil of the 2.

I travel A LOT. Coverage is a must, it doesn't matter if I have 2 bars or 5 at home, as long as I get text's and calls on time. But everywhere else I NEED signal. AT&T put up a valiant effort but in some areas I was beat out while my grandma was continually calling people... on verizon :(

so far the only positives i've seen about verizon over at&t is facetime over wifi and unthrottled internet.

first of all, have you ever used facetime away from home? do you realize how much of a nerd you look like. i've used facetime just once since it was first introduced and i shut it off right away 'cus it was really awkward. second, i see your unthrottled internet and raise you being able to look things up on safari while on speakerphone. i also raise you my unliimited data plan (grandfathered), and 23% corporate discount.

looking like a nerd for using FaceTime? Hahaha that was my laugh for the day, thanks robaroo.

Are we really that bored with our phone calls that we have to talk and surf at same time? Some people may say that they need to check email, or do maps, while driving and talking on the phone? Thank you Verizon for saving my life.

In all reality though, AT&T for data speed, Verizon for coverage. It's really a no-brainer when you think about it.

And when Verizon becomes VoLTE, The complainers will really have nothing to go on then.

At&t > tmo > vzw

I was on AT&T (and Cingular before the merger) for several years. They were ok except I seemed to drop a lot of calls, so I saved some $ and moved to T-Mobile 2 years ago. I'm in the Boston area and found I dropped less calls on TMO and their coverage is good here and like their HSPA/+. The problem with TMO is I too often drop to 2G Edge data. It is so slow, it is often unusable and I often end up on 2G near home, even though it shows as 3G/4G on the map.

So, waiting for my pre-ordered Verizon iPhone 5 and LTE...

The positive for Verizon is that I can actually get a phone call to work. At work I got three bars on AT&T yet 80% of my phone calls went directly to voicemail and I didn't get the voicemail indicator until hours later. I've not had that happen once on Verizon on the iPhone 5. In other words reliability. AT&T seems faster at their best but over the last five years they are getting less and less reliable for me. I need a phone that actually works, not a feature battle on paper that doesn't really apply in the real world.

Sorry to burst your bubble but Verizon does throttle too. But on congested towers.

:) sorry to burst your bubble...but Verizon only throttles 3G devies...

4g has a much larger capacity than 3g.. muuuch larger.
Its a shame ATT only gives their LTE user 5 gb...really att? 4g is only 1.66 more efficient?? right..

exactly.. i hadway more dropped calls when i was on ATT. Especially while on the phone and driving. The exact same spot...every day.
Verizon i can make a phone call with 1 bar. If i tried the same with ATT.. id be repeating myself, holding my phone in the air while on speakerphone.

No ATT LTE in my area for the foreseeable future

Been with ATT since first iphone. Finally switched to VZW because they have LTE in Colorado and ATT doesn't even have a roadmap for when CO will get it. So far I am loving it...good data speeds, and my phone actually works as a phone.

Wrong. I use to be with Verizon and saw it happen. And the the facts. Sorry to make you cry but they do throttle and that is a fact. Since you haven't hit it you have nothing to worry about. But because of your experience doesn't equal everyone's.

yeahhhh from your first article
Update: Droid-life reports that another Verizon LTE madman has come forward claiming to have used twice as much bandwidth in an even shorter interval without any throttling. That could suggest this was an isolated incident, that the throttling is done at Verizon’s discretion rather than with a set cut-off. Then again, maybe this heavy-hitter just has a couple more days to go before the carrier starts throttling him, too.

LOL did you read your sites?
from your first article of "proof"

and the second article the user said he signed up in 2010 (which means verizon has to tell you when throttling).. he showed us a screen shot of his account status... IT DID NOT say "network optimization"

these handful of reports of "4g throttling" are one offs, errors etc towers down.. verizon is obviously not throttling 4g users... or it would be a riot.. especially to the users who paid $650 for an iphone 5.

my experience plus the vast majority is much grater than a couple of threads with users claiming they are being throttled.

you're not making me cry. im at 25 gb this month of 35/20 LTE speeds..
