Not if you have a skin on it. I have a best skin ever on the back of my phone which also covers the bezel, the case fits perfectly over the skin.

Hey Ferris,

Do you still have the BSE (back) and Solo FX case combo? I have a question - does it leave watermarks at the back? I have a white iPhone, with BSE just recently installed but I don't want the skin to collect lint and dust again so I'm wondering if watermarks appear against this case? Thanks.

I actually don't have the FX series, I have the Iskin Solo. It's hard to say, i really don't think it would, it isn't that tight.

OK, I have been lurking for a while and reading and rating and watching youtube reviews. Anyways I have a 3gs and 3g for my wife and I. Both are less than a month old and I would like to protect them. I purchased a griffin wave case at walmart on a whim and its way to bulky. After further research I have decided on the full bodyguardz and iSkin solo and solo fx for my wife. The bodyguardz will give me complete scratch proof no matter what case I have and the solo will give decent protection without alot of bulk. You all seem very knowledgeable and would appreciate any opinions or experiences with this combo.

Nevrsadie,

I'm about to do that same combo too buti I'll be using BSE instead of bodyguardz. Ill let you know once the case arrives.

I thought I posted it in here but it may have been in another thread.

I have an Iskin Solo which is the same as an FX just not clear and fancy, mine is glossy black (I love it)

I also have a best skins ever on the back of my phone, the combo works perfect. Scratch and drop protection with minimal bulk.

Just be sure when you remove your Iskin Solo you lift up each top corner (don't be afraid of ripping or stretching it). If you don't lift each corner over, it will catch your skin and pull it up at each corner.

As long as you lift on each you will be good to go with a skin on the back. I take mine off all the time to clean it. Lift up and over.

I got my knock off iskin solo off ebay for a total of $5. Overall its the same material and look of the iskin for much less. I just wanted to see who close it was to the real one, I have 2 real ones.

I'll post pics and let you guys know the real differences after i try the knock off for a day or so.

Overall the knock off "soft case" is very close to the iskin. It is the exact same material (which is the key to the case IMO) It had a more firm feel on the corners, maybe it was slightly molded thicker? but its really hard to tell. With them side by side in hand you could feel some difference but what it was exactly is pretty hard to tell. My guess is a slight difference in the actual molding process.

The fit itself was very close to the iskin, it felt like i had to stretch it the same amount installing the case. The overlap did seem a little bit more but that only adds more coverage, again pretty slight but you still could notice on a side by side test.

The one major difference was in the cutouts. The headphone jack was cut very close to the original jack so it bigger jacks would be possible. As in the iskin case they over cut the headphone jack to allow just about any size to fit. The silence switch on the knock off was actually cut better then the iskin case. On the iskin it is a very tight cut and you really have to get a nail on it for it to work. The knock off was a little easier and almost cut like an incase slider in that area. For the bottom cut, it again was very close to the original iskin but i believe it was slightly bigger but not bad at all.

Now my only issues with the case were in 2 places. On the real iskin the volume rocker and sleep button are actually molded into the case so that you can feel them from the outside. ON the knock off those areas are not raised, so it has a smooth feeling surface. The difference is the molding for those 2 areas are internal. You can still access both the rocker and sleep with just a gentle press because those areas are thinner then the rest.

The circular design was almost the same except for the "frosted" texture could have been applied with more quality, its slightly uneven in one spot, but for me to mention that is being very picky. I also think the circles are a little more transparent on the knock off too.

Overall the knock off for $5 is a really nice case, and only differs slightly to that of the original. Had i not bought the real case i probably would have been perfectly happy with the $5. basically the only difference is a slight variation in the mold and a little bit of quality control, typical with knock offs. Beyond that a very close version of a VERY over priced solo FX = $40 shipped from iskin. I should note i did find the iskin solo FX @ the APSpro store online for $25 and with a 10% coupon.

Any other questions i can try and answer for you guys.

I found some by searching on soft plastic case iphone 3g at eBay. :)

Looks like there's at least one vendor selling a black version of the Solo FX (with the circle pattern), which is cool!

Question for those who has the iSkin Solo or Solo FX and the Neo:

Do you guys know if the dock adapter from the Neo case would fit iSkin Solo when you place your iPhone on a dock?

Fits perfectly. It's what I use in my Bose Soundock II

Thanks a lot again Ferris23, I think this case would last me for another year again cause of the perfect setup, now only if it would get here faster.

I am also getting another Marware Flexi-Shell which is another fantastic case that works with skins.

Another great thing about the Iskin Solo and the FlexiShell is that they are nice and glossy but don't get all scratched up like a hard glossy plastic case. My Solo is about 6 months old and it looks pretty much the same as the day I got it.

Thanks for all the info, guys! Just ordered a black knock-off from ebay for $5.20 shipped. We'll see how it turns out!

I have the purple FX on white. It's def my favorite case. Though, I did notice that the 3G heated up so much right around the logo it left a little burn mark on the case. =(

Thinking about getting the black but wondering how it looks w/ the white iPhone. I like that it's a little transparent. Anyone have pics of that combo?

Thanks, kicko, for the report and comparison photos! Very helpful. :)

I currently have an authentic Solo black case, which I love, but after reading your post and browsing around on eBay, I've just ordered the Clear Soft Plastic Case Back Cover for iPhone 3G Black because it has the cool Solo FX circle design.

Price: $5.20

Will post comparison photos when I get it!
