I ordered the Arkon IPM515 from mobiledriven as well until they release a vent mount for the IP4. Are you not able to move the 2 top prongs to the other side so that it won't touch the on/off button? I like the design since it won't be sensitive to naked/or any case you have on the phone.

Yes you can move the prongs anywhere you like. I chose to use only one on top and it was plenty secure. Too secure if you ask me.

I too have the arkon. From mobiledrive. I don't like how tight / how far you have to extend the "gripper" to grab the bumpered i4. I posted on the arkon site asking if they made or plan on making an adapter / extender that was about an inch in length.

i spoke with arkron today, the 515 has a more slim line clip similar to the garmin, while the 514 has a piviot joint or something.. they have no plans to release a updated vent clip either because the springs were breaking or something like that.

I'm willing to bet as tight and as much force that is needed to use that slim grip holder, there is no way you can keep it clipped to a vent.

ProClip does make non-vent mounts (my Tacoma mount was a nice middle console clip model—and my Honda Fit Proclip mounts on the A-Pillar), but they're not as common.

Going through the ordering process on their site, the only models were the vent and side clip. Both are just too far away to conveniently reach for my iPhone while driving.

I have this in both cars.

Really like it, very easy to use. It will hold the Iphone 4 w/bumper plus power plugged into the bottom. You can buy either the vent kit alone or the vent kit+windshield.

How sturdy is it? Can it twist to view the iPhone horizontally? And does it feel like a sharp turn will make it fly out the side or is there a good grip?

Another poster noted that their Arkon mount was TOO tight and took two hands to remove it from the holder. I'll have an Apple bumper on mine so I don't want it to be too tight either.

My vent mount Arkon will be here by tomorrow, and I have the bumper on my phone. Will post once it arrives. At this price, I figure it is a good temporary solution for me that will get passed down to my husband once Proclip brings out their landscape model for the iPhone 4 with bumper. We've had too many suction cup mounts that go flying at some point. I'm done with trying, the Proclip will be well worth the money if it stays where you put it!

I loved my ProClip holder for my iPhone 3Gs.

The iPhone 4 actually fit into the ProClip 3Gs holder pretty well, as long as I didn't have a bumper on.

Since I use a bumper on the iPhone 4, I am anxious to see what ProClip's iPhone 4 + bumper holder looks like.

Very appreciated. The OP needs to make links to all reviews within this thread in his first post, so we can easily find them. Help with the organization as well.

So the arkon is a more expensive slightly different looking (i prefer the other) version of the monoprice/bracketron type kit.....at 4x the price.

Next!

I like the PED3-AUTO - very adjustable and solid construction. According to their website it fits the iPhone 4. I was able to get a back-up replacement faceplate for my dash so I mounted mine directly into the dash. Pics here. However, they have multiple mounting options.

Proclips are due to ship July 16th. They are saying they will not accomodate the phone with the bumper on due to the curvy shape of the bumpers, but I am convinced the adjustable one will work. Mine fits pretty well in the 3GS adj. holder now. They told me in an Email that they will be coming out with a holder for the phone with a bumber attached.
