ok if it is already in the uk then i suppose its likely......i thought you meant it had just been despatched from china yesterday, if that was the case as you saw from my tracking it would be unlikely to arrive anytime soon...

Just got an email! It's been dispatched! Gonna be delivered on Monday! :D

Well I decided to return my refurbished iMac and ordered a new riMac....i7 16GB 295GPU and 1TB SSD. I decided to "future proof" the expensive purchase as much as I can. The refurbished iMac seemed to be a good deal when I ordered it just a few weeks ago, but the retina version is generating so much interest I decided I didn't want to get stuck with a higher-end recent model that may be subject to a big depreciation hit w/o retina. But to be honest, mostly I just want the nice display. :D

congrats and smart move. long-term, you probably will not regret it.

Ordered mine!

i7
295x
1 TB SDD
Magic Trackpad (already have the mouse)

I cannot wait!! I played with the base model at the store and loved it!

Also, I'm coming from a mid-2009 base 13" MBP. Should be a nice upgrade haha

I would love to learn how they decide where to route these things. Mine went from Anchorage to California then to Seattle where it is now. You would have thought yours would have done the same. Presumably mine will go to Vancouver next? Delivery still says Monday, but there is some hope.

Yea, it is pretty interesting. Many years back (I think around 2008), I ordered a MacBook. It went from Shanghai to Los Angeles. After sitting in LA for a day, it went back to Shanghai and then flew on a flight to Alaska before flying back to the mainland US and eventually being delivered to me, 4 days late. I was pretty upset, but also amazed at the same time.

Delivered at 9:45AM. Just 12 hours ago, this thing was in Alaska. Since that time it went to Kentucky, got import clearance, and was put on a plane back to the West Coast, then out for delivery.

It can happen to you. :)

It comes in a funny shaped box. Are all iMacs like that?

My iMac is still in Alaska but UPS just moved my delivery estimate back to 10/24 from 10/27. Somehow I think that's very optimistic, considering that I'm on the West coast.

But if it's true, my iMac probably made it onto this flight:

Here's my history...

10/23/2014 1:04 P.M. Arrival Scan
Shanghai, China 10/23/2014 9:45 P.M. Departure Scan
Shanghai, China 10/22/2014 3:35 P.M. Export Scan
Shanghai, China 10/20/2014 9:05 P.M. Arrival Scan
10/20/2014 8:50 P.M. Departure Scan
10/20/2014 5:04 P.M. Origin Scan
China 10/20/2014 1:54 A.M. Order Processed: Ready for UPS

Reporting in from new RiMac... wow... woot! Oh and if you haven't had an iMac before like me, the power button is behind the screen on the bottom left.

After sitting in China for two days, Alaska for another, and clearing customs yet again in KY, its - amazingly- due to arrive today.

My driver doesn't usually appear until the late evening..

Question about credit card charges:

Ordered loaded iMac Retina on the 21st, estimated deliver October 31-November 4. As always, immediately Apple charged me for shipping and Apple Care, but not for the iMac.

Order status still shows "processing", but this morning my credit card (Capital One) shows a "pending" charge for the remainder of the order.

I've never noticed Apple doing this before. Typically all "pending" charges are removed and the entire amount is charged, but ONLY when shipping.

Has this sort of thing happened to anyone else? I'm hoping this means the order is moving to the next stage.

Received notification today about delivery scheduled for Oct 30! My window of delivery at checkout was Nov 3 - Nov 6.

Yeah!

Oh GAWD!

I just ordered mine a few hours ago and I see a mistake on my order!
I don't know if it was me or some sort of error. (Most likely me) but anyway, it says Wireless Swedish keyboard and it should be wired English!!!
What should I do?
I don't want to cancel and reorder because not only will that delay my delivery I assume, but I used two Apple gift cards and I also went for the Barclay's 0% financing.
Should I just leave it be and hassle with it later after I get the Mac?
I Live close to an Apple store. Does anybody know if they can handle a swap at the store?
Jeez I'm so bummed at this stupid little error. :(:(:(

I was charged $179 the day I ordered (or the next) and the remainder a fw hours before it moved to Preparing for shipment.

Slightly jealous of you guys in the USA getting deliveries.. seems you get shipping priority. ;) Mine has sat in China for 3 days doing nothing. No doubt it will have an interesting route to the UK too. Last time (rMBP) it was via USA then Germany then UK taking a few days longer than it should have.

Yes, I too ordered the i7 R295X iMac on 21st, and after the charge dropped off my card on 22nd, it showed back up yesterday morning. And now, my order shows 'preparing for shipment'!

Ditto for me, too!!

I can now properly join the ranks in this thread. I placed an order last night! (Yay!)

i7 4GHz, M295X, 8 GB RAM, 512 SSD, and Applecare.

My Crucial 32 GB upgrade kit from Amazon was delivered yesterday. And on Black Friday, I will be ordering a Thunderbay 4 RAID 5 array from OWC.

Now comes the long wait. Shipping slipped to 7-10 days one hour before I placed my order. Has anyone had any luck calling Apple and getting a free upgrade to expedited shipping?

I can't wait to get my hands on this beast. Life is good!

Congrats, and I hear you regarding the long wait. I saw a Retina iMac yesterday at an Apple Store. The rumors about the display are true. ;)

The 7-10 days is the time between order placement and order shipment. Your invoice should show the expected arrival date range, which factors in the shipment length.

I'm not sure if Apple can change the order to expedited shipping, but I suspect they could.

Generally, on items with the fragility of a large computing device/monitor, I always upgrade to a faster shipping time as long as the cost isn't outrageous. I've had UPS drivers say faster transit times cut down significantly the amount of handling and potential for damage.

I look at it as insurance, and $30 is not a lot to pay on a $3000 item.
