There's a hold on mine as well. Really, really hoping it ships out by tomorrow. I'm usually a patient person, but I'm getting so anxious. I've been checking the order status an unhealthy amount of times throughout the day.

LOL! Me too! I have not had a Mac since 1998 and the new 5K made me want to jump back. I did get an SSD rather than a fusion drive. Have my 32GB of Crucial RAM waiting on my desk.

Apple we are ready...ship them!

At least the sent my 64GB iPhone 6 Plus. That was "only" a five week wait ;-(

7am in china...shop is about to open. Boss on loud speaker clears his throat as all look to the order boards (in neon) blinking from a heavy nights inflow.

He looks out to the floor at the beaming eyes of the factory workers and says...."Ship'em All" Roars flood the factory shop....with a cheer not heard before!

Probably sounded a bit different...unfortunately the other possibility is he hunkers down in the office and says, "Im not taking calls today!"

Fingers crossed in a positive way!

I purchased an i7, 295x & 256gb flash. Is 256gb flash enough? I did not want the fusion drive! Or should I have went 512gb, didn't want to spend another $270!

Sigh. I got the email informing me that my shipment is delayed as well (dispatch 24th or before). Gaddam you Apple. I just hope hope some good comes out of thos delay -- like Apple fixing the therman paste or w/e so my iMac wont throttle.

I have a 500gb in my win 8.1 pc and I've used about a third of it so the mac os will have plenty of room on 256gb

So I bit the bullet and decided to cancel my high end order (so the i7, 295 and 512ssd) because of this delay issue.

I went with the i5, 290 with 1tb fusion from my local JB Hi-FI here in Melbourne. As an added boon, they've got an apple computer sale at the moment (till Sunday) so the pricing got knocked off some $300 (from $2998 to $2698.20).

I'd already ordered another 16gb ram so I've got 24gb now. Downloading civilisation V and transferring WoW over currently.

VERY happy with it, and silent as

I guess any who are in Oz and decide too purchase a retina iMac (base) then best call and have them reserve you a machine. I think they prefer if you can go in and pick up on the same day.

Good luck with it, 'coz I'm loving mine!

Damn. YOU are one lucky guy. You ordered a day before I did, and must have gotten one of the last ones before the supply issue hit. Crazy the difference one day makes.

I ordered the same configuration on November 1 and my order status page still shows "Delivers: Nov 19 - Nov 24 by Standard Shipping" -- hope this is true as today, 11-14 is the 10th business day in the shipping window. Did you buy 32GB from Crucial? I have my 32GB waiting for immediate install upon arrival!

I think the 256GB SSD is fine. I have a Samsung 840 Pro 256GB in my hand built machine that is 1/4 full with Win 8.1.

As soon as I get the iMac up and running I am taking that SSD and putting it a OWC Mercury Elite Pro Dual 0GB USB 3.0 & Thunderbolt RAID Storage Enclosure along with a 2TB WD spinning drive.

I am going to clone the Mac's SSD to the Samsumg for backup and use the 2TB for Time Machine. I plan to keep all data on WD My Book 4TB Thunderbolt RAID. I know its kind of a waste of an SSD but I don't know how else to use it. Any ideas?

I cannot wait to get the iMac. I have had iPhones and iPads for the last few years but my last desktop Mac was a Performa 400 from 1998:) The iMac 5K is huge leap forward from there.

Please Apple, ship soon!

Apple Store website now shows iMac 27" 5K as "Available to ship: 2-3 weeks"

Oh no! The hold on my CC was removed! NOT GOOD.

But -- this may just be that the time to hold has expired without a charge. So I don't know how much this really means.

It does mean the iMac 5K wait anxiety had taken over, LOL!

Crikey, does that mean your card will have to be charged again?

Maybe it means that Apple are giving it to you for free for all the inconvenience...

I finally decided to make the jump from pc to mac by ordering a retina imac. Decided to go all out and ordered it with:

4.0GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 4.4GHz
3TB Fusion Drive
AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4GB GDDR5

Will upgrade with crucial RAM.

Ordered on 10/30. Expected to arrive Nov 17-20.

This week one morning I check, and status was changed to preparing to ship. A pending charge was on my credit card. Then a few HOURS later status changed back to processing.

Now yesterday pending charge fell off credit card, and to expected deliver date changed to Dec 1-2.

Very frustrating. At least my iPhone 6 shipped earlier that expected by AT&T and should be arriving soon.

Got my first MAC pc ever a couple of days ago:

4GHZ I7, 256GB SSD, R9 M295X 4GB GDDR5, 8GB RAM (upgraded to 24 with third party RAM).

This iMac will be my main PC for some years to come, which is why I decided for the upgrades.

Well I'm half way through day 10 and it still says 18th-21st as the estimated delivery and the pending charge is still on my credit card.

Only a matter of time till it changes though I guess

Sadly so. It seems any of us who ordered after 10/29 [updated] will need to add at least one week to our expected delivery unless something miraculous happens.:(

It is now 9:30PM in China and no change in status on the last day of my shipping window. Bummer.
