Anyone tried calling Apple yet, it sounds like a ton of iMacs (including mine) went from Preparing back to processing? My date is 14th-19th for delivery.

Someone did a few days ago (somewhere in this thread) and was told they didn't know why it said that but everything was still on track

----------

Fortunately mine hasn't gone back to processing....

...yet.

I called Apple today and they had no idea why it had gone back to processing but as far as they knew it should be on track for the original delivery between the 17th and 20th. Hopefully it gets dispatched tomorrow because it's the 10th and last cited working day.

I ordered mine on 11/04, still processing.
I guess I'll be playing Warlords of Draenor on my currently broken 2010 iMac - screen only works when on lowest brightness :(

In the same boat here...
Ordered on 10/30... i7/8gb/512gb ssd/295x -- expedited ship

Went from prepping to ship on 11/7, back to 'processing' on 11/10.

I called apple on Monday morning, and after about 10min on hold, the agent came back and said that the only time this ever happens -- where a BTO steps backwards in the queue -- is when there is a part(s) shortage. Furthermore, the rep said they throw the status one notch in reverse to give customers the option of canceling the order and sourcing a machine elsewhere, as once the BTO enters "preparing for shipment" the cancellation option is no longer available.

Since both the 5K imac and the regular 27" imac use almost all of the same components, aside from the screen & the video card, the cause for the delay most likely lies with the screen itself... as if you hit the applestore online and try to BTO a regular iMac, they currently have a 2-3 business day lead time, where as both versions of the 5K iMac (290x vs. 295x) are showing the extended lead time. So... by simple deduction, that leads me to believe that either Apple ran short on displays, or they ran short on BOTH video adapters for the 5K... my bet would be on the displays themselves.

Based on what i've read here.. the last known orders that actually shipped were placed on 10/28. Looks like we just missed the last of them.

Here's to hoping the parts come in today, and they shift production into high gear. I for one, sold my previous 27" iMac almost 10 days ago, in order to help fund this one. I need a large screen to edit on.

I beg you apple, with a cherry on top... change my order to Shipped!

This is my first iMac and I've ordered all the bits and bobs for it (extra ram, usb drive, white cables, nas for time machine etc etc) and they're all sitting in packets and boxes waiting.

Today is day 10, the last day of the expected shipping date range.

Mines on day 9 and didn't even change to preparing to ship.

Guessing the chances of getting it for the delivery estimate (18th-21st) is pretty slim now

Mine was scheduled for delivery 13th to 16th, but the 13th is almost over here and it still says "Processing". At this point, it seems exceedingly unlikely that it will come on time.

Mine did the same thing, went to prepare for shipment for 2 days then back to processing items:(

Poor show by apple really, you would think they would have these iMacs lined up for shipment, even in custom configs knowing that orders will come in. I hope there not slamming them together with issues like light bleed and poor heatsink contact cause there all being rushed from back order.

Come on apple get your finger out! peoples hard earned cash and at premium prices service and stock is a must.

I Ordered My Retina iMac High End What did you get?

If it is a shortage then I don't understand why some orders went to the "preparing for shipment" phase...one would think that means those orders are already built.

I think that fact that you can't cancel the order once it goes into preparing for shipment would mean that 'preparing for shipment' is when they actually start building your order. Up until that point it's just paper work and can be cancelled because time and parts haven't been used yet.

I might be wrong but that's how I understood it to work.

OK, I'm real pissed. Ordered mine on 30th October. Yesterday I see the usual processing items, so I decided to call being that it was the first day of the deadline (13-17 Nov). I was reassured "there is nothing to worry about". Late tonight I decide to contact Apple via their website (chat), AGAIN I am reassured there is nothing to worry about. Two hours later I see this is now arbitrarily extended out to 24-27 Nov.

Really, really not happy with this. Dunno might even bring out my PC again :x

Doubly sucks as I'm on Annual Leave now..........

(I've ordered high end retina)

Yea makes sense.

Mine still says 17-20th...I'm thinking it's gonna be getting switched soon too then

Ordered October 30 and mine switched to Preparing for Shipment on the 8th but switched back to Processing Items a few days later and is still there. My delivery is Nov 13 - 18th.

I don't really get whats going on.

It's weird that neither my dates or status have changed. I ordered on the 30th and my dates are still 17th to 20th. It has been sitting on preparing for shipment for 4 days now.

Perhaps it's because mine is on finance and they are keeping it in the preparing for shipment stage so I can't cancel the order because of the loan agreement having been sorted?

Mine was in preparing for shipment for 3 days then switched back to processing items but the charge is still on my card. When I ordered on the 30th the temp charge was only on my card for 2 days.

Something is odd but no one at Apple can figure it out they keep saying it will ship out in a day or two but that was 4 days ago when I heard that first time.

I went through Bill Me Later and they changed my status from Prepare back to Processing but my delivery dates are still the 13th-18th. Its 11pm in Shanghai right now, so I imagine any changes to my order won't happen until tonight (EST). Perhaps mine is still going to ship tomorrow and the one's who called made the mistake of poking the bear?

Shipping delayed

Hi all,
ordered BTO iMac (i7/295/256SSD) from Italy.
Original delivery date 11/14-19.

Went in Processing on 28th October, Prepare to Shipment on 10th November.

Yesterday I received an e-mail from Apple Store saying that they're experiencing problems with shipment and that my order will be shipped prior of November 21th...

Anyone received a similar e-mail?

Buy from Adorama - faster & cheaper

Bought mine (maxed everything) 10/31 and had it in hand a week later on the 7th. Cheaper than Apple's site by a tiny bit, free shipping, and no hassles.

Powermax is also very good though they didn't have the exact config I wanted.

I didn't get anything when you bought your new iMac..

Shame on Apple, not sending out gifts to other customers when they get an order!

Just received an email saying that my dispatch has been moved from 17th - 20th to on or before 24th Nov due to them 'currently experiencing delays in dispatching the order'
