Reading these 10 pages has given me great information about WatchPlate. I changed my order today from the sports version to SS just to get it goldplated.
I look forward to reading these comments and turn around time of orders. Seems like they are getting pretty busy. I really hope they can keep up with demand and still provide good quality work.

I am wanting to get my watch and 2 bands plated.
Does anyone know the what they charge for an extra band?

I think $100 for extra band.

Hey Guys,

We shipped out almost every order that came in last week and upgraded everyone to overnight shipping free of charge to make up for some lost time. Starting a business and getting the attention of practically the entire world's media 12 hours after launching our website, gave us an unexpected boost of sales that required real expansion. I had to hire 3 people just to respond to emails (we are getting hundreds a day). We manufactured parts that didn't exist just days ago that are specific to plating the apple watch and her bands. We did have a bit of a delay with our initial orders, but after getting our system dialed in, we are good to go.

I couldn't be more grateful for the macrumors forum community and especially this thread. I've been working from about 7am to 3am every day for the last week and a half, but everything is coming together beautifully and the team at watchplate.com and I couldn't be more proud.

*highfives
Ryan

Awesome job. Glad things are booming. If you can, post some closer views of the rose gold. Its hard from the pictures to really get a good look at it and its color. Way to go!

I had sent them a couple emails and Ryan Flynn did call me late yesterday afternoon and said that he will ship my watch next day air.
They stated free shipping both ways but it is FedEx ground....
I will post pictures when I have it tomorrow.

any updates? we want to see pics

Apple Police: "Target acquired... SWARM! SWARM!" Can't imagine this ending well. :(

Apple doesn't care about third party aftermarket modifications like this, all he needs to worry about is what to do with all his new found $$. Personally, I recommend he sets up a fund for the MR's members who nudged him into this business :p

Is it just poor reflection, or are there spots on the band and the crown that are missing some plating?

Watchplate.com used the back side of the magnetic as a place to hold the loop for dipping to the tank. They leave some residue in this area.
I feel some roughness in the front of the lever.
I guess they could clean it up....

For the watch body, they used the diagnostic cover as a holding area so it is not get plated as well...

Yes, that makes sense. The spots I was referring to are on the sides of the band and on the digital crown. It must just be a reflection if you're not seeing it in person. Looks good!

Thanks for posting these photos, Tom! Do you mind if we use some of these? I'm creating a customer photos section on our site.

Am I reading this correctly? You can do 1000+ watches per day? At $399/per?

That's quite a revenue stream lol

Watchpate.com must have a new holding/dipping racks
If each rack can hold 20 or 50 then it is not a problem for them

Here is observations:
The band lugs slide in and out of the watch body slots work fine and lock-in mechanism feel fine.
The crown push in and out seem normal, however it is "just a little" stiff to rotate the crown. Hope in a few days it will be back to normal.

Would I recommend to members of this forum...
Yes! I give it a 9/10...
Thanks Wachplate.com and Mr Ryan Flynn...

Sure!! No problems

Last pictures

how do you feel about it in person? the first watch he did for his wife looked more polished/ lustrous in the pictures; IDK maybe its the camera/ lighting.

Does the new finish meet you expectations? I want to do it but i'm still on the fence.

Here come the pictures 38mm with milanese loop.
Just get back from Ryan this AM

What kind of reaction from people have you gotten from your new gold watch?

customer photos look good, but still, i can't believe everyone thinks that OP created this business from the ground up in the last 1.5 weeks.

clearly, OP had the intention of starting this business long time ago and was using macrumors to advertise for free. I dont buy the fact that he came here just to show off his wife's watch. he came on here to see what initial demand would be, how much he should charge, and use it as a free advertising platform.

also, still turned off by OP changing the facts about the cost of gold (from $6 to $60). and the fact that he claims most of the costs are related to labor: when he just said he is able to do 1000 a day. anywho, i may end up sending mine in when i get my watch, but i hope OP becomes more transparent in his business in the future and responds to customers more actively

I also found his photography website if anyone wants to contact him

You do realize he has been an active forum member since 06'? Sure, he used the site to gauge demand but why not? He also said he has the tools from his other business

He was previously doing this for non-jewelry, so he didn't really need to start from the floor to get this rolling.

The $6-$60 thing is weird, but someone pointed out it could be the priced based on the new equipment he purchased once the first flood of orders landed.

Apologies if this has already been answered but I remember reading (early on in this thread) that you might offer plating the milanese loop so it matches the space black watch. Are you still considering doing that?

Hah...wow cynical much?? Given the demand and interest I'd say he priced it kind of low. I personally think $399 is perfect.

IF you are right, if he had such foresight and business acumen, good for him regardless of pre-planning and genius PR/marketing.

Personally, I think gold Milanese loop looks quite feminine regardless of whether it's yellow or rose gold.

With the gold I was going for super cheesy and ironic (particularly the gold on gold milanese). If with rose gold it turns out super classy I was going to go that route.

Yeah, rose gold Milanese would still make it look feminine so it'd be super cheesy and ironic on a male, no different from the Modern Buckle. If you wanted to be classy, I read that Ryan can also do black chrome so you might consider that for your Milanese loop.
