Very impressed! Are the digital crowns being color matched to the band by WatchPlate too?

I'm sure you can request that the entire crown be plated in gold, but that'd look boring IMO (like the the plain crown on the Sport).

Keep in mind that the Edition models with the black sport band and black classic buckle have black-capped crowns.

Never mind...I thought that only the Editions came with color matched crowns. I just checked apple.com and realized that the Apple Watch comes with this too.

Yeah, all Apple Watch (SS) models come with black-capped crowns. The Sport has plain crowns and the Editions have color-coded crowns (matched to their bands).

Hey Guys,

I am cross-posting this here from the WatchPlate review thread, since I think people here will be interested as well (https://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=21296937)

I got the watch today and my Milanese band (my sport band is being sent separately) and it looks fantastic! I am really pleased with the results.

I've made a silly little video to show the results, in an attempt to earn the $100 rebate he offered for early buyers/reviewing, so check it out:

https://youtu.be/e8P3hfLipzk

I also attached a few of the pictures (low-res...) that show it best. The watch face supports a slight yellow/gold color for the Chronogram and it look sick with the gold... I had a lot of trouble getting a picture that really shows that, I think you just have to see it for yourself.

Ryan, excellent job my friend! There were a couple of little communication / shipping hiccups, but Ryan was great sorting everything out and communicating with me, and I have full confidence that in no time he will be running a streamlined operation.

I'll post more pics when my sports band arrives!

I like how you went with the orange chronograph. I went with orange myself, think it looks better with the gold. Yours looks awesome!

I think the song I used caused it to get some geo-restrictions. Glad you like it, I am really happy with it too!

Feels a little spammy to me that the OP created this post only about 15 days ago as a "hey, look what I did" post and I see that he's already got a professional-looking web store operational.

It was largely on our suggestion since so many of us started messaging him to do the same procedure to our own watches. He's using one of those online store providers which makes it really quick to deploy an ecomm website.

I've no interest in a gold plated watch myself, but it's sad (and yet oh so predictable) that people want to criticize the sellers motives/ethics, etc.

Good for him, I say. Looks like he's delivering what people want at a price they like. Who cares if it's $6 of gold or $60? Again, good for him. Capitalism at work. I hope he makes a fortune.

Any review updates after almost 1 week ownership? Hoping to send mine next week for plating.

I am still debating if should send mine in just because the very slow communication that I have had with them through email. I would be very anxious sending the watch in and not having any updates or information.
Has anyone received any updates while their watch was being plated?

I just got mine back last night, picked it up from Ryan as I am local in LA. He is an absolutely great guy, very honest and reliable.

He is just super slammed with 100's of orders and media inquiries.

Picture of their great work (excuse the hairy arm):

i noticed that the apple edition one has a light toned gold color how does the color of the plated ones compare to it? for those who got their watch plated

Wow, these watches do look nice. Slightly too Kanye West for my lifestyle, but the photos look so good I'm tempted. Maybe in a few months the mad rush will wind down. I will be so, so interested to see how the plating holds up. My only experience with gold plating is with cheap electric guitars. Gold plated pickup covers, tail-pieces and tuners usually look faded and awful in just a few months.

1 Week In and still going strong!

Its been over a week of having my goldplated watch from Ryan at Watchplate and its still amazing! Still looks incredible. For those of you that are waiting are absolutely missing out. I was Order #3 and I'm so glad I did it. I know things can get hectic at Watchplate but give them a break. They just started so its not like they have 100 people working in their office to respond to every question. So go ahead and watchplate because trust me you dont want to miss out on every person just staring at your watch and complimenting it every couple minutes. Go now and do it http://www.watchplate.com/#_l_1q

I think these are slightly "gold-er" than the edition ones. I actually intend to go into the store for a try on and take some side-by-side pictures… Maybe next week

The biggest unexpected perk that's getting to me is that I haven't noticed any micro scratches… I'm actually getting the feeling that the gold protects the stainless steel and keeps looking better longer. Other than that still looks great and works great ... And definitely turns heads.

Communication was definitely slow and I admit that I started getting a little nervous after a few days of not hearing anything. However once he got to my order he was calling me and texting me personally and I definitely felt taken care of. As other people have said, these are just growing pains of a new company that didn't expect to explode. I would have every confidence that they would take good care of your watch

Did he give you some kind of affiliate link??
