I think I made a big mistake with white

Actually, this is far from the truth. Using the white iPad in low light conditions, the white does not pop out at all. It makes the color of the bezel far less noticeable. Obviously, the black would "disappear" more, but if the lights are down low, you really don't see the white at all. The brightness of the display overpowers it. Hard to explain, but I think you can get what I mean?

This thread has seriously got me reconsidering.
i was really jazzed about the white, but all the negative comments from OWNERS of the white is making me think.
Anymore positive comments?

Sure, these people are feeding each other's bad hype. The white is great, they are obsessing or trolling, pick one. If you didn't get it today you have plenty of time to o to the apple store and check it for yourself.

As the thread starter, I promise I'm not trolling.

I was very excited to get my iPad. I think it's pretty cool. The white just immediately hit me as odd and hasn't gotten much better.

With the screen on, it's a little better now. However, if it's just sitting there, with the display asleep, it seems a bit strange in my eyes still.

I wish Apple had kept one color and forced it on us. Ha. Then I probably wouldn't have mind the white so bad.
 
Well you've either got three options:

Live with it or hope it grows on you in time,

Re-sell it on eBay, Craigslist etc,

Or cut your losses and return the item.
 
There is nothing wrong with white iPads it's just personal opinion, I love my white 64GB and wouldn't go back for anything; happy customer here (and yes I had the original iPad)...

this happened to me with my iphone4 I got on launch day. I ended up calling the local apple stores and they had a stock of replacements in the back already piled up for taking care of defects. I ended up with my replacement the second day the IP4 was available and the whole line waiting outside to buy one looked at me funny after the guy handed me one and I walked out.

Anyway, call around. You may be able to exchange it tomorrow. I didn't have to complain or hassle at all; no one is going to try to get a scam replacement on day 2 so they'll trust you.

This is 100% true, I'm in bed right now, dark room, with 25% brightness and can't see the white bezel at all....if you are leaning towards white don't let people change your mind, you'll regret it...
 
Actually, I don't see how you will lose money. There have been quit a few on ebay today that have sold for more than they are selling for in stores.
 
Personally I love the white!
I bought it because:
1. I'm sick of the black
2. White hides all the finger prints around the bezel
3. Visually looks thinner
4. It's new ;)

I just regret getting Verizon. I had no choice though... I'm thinking of returning my 64gb tomorrow to see if they get any AT&T versions in.
 
I am posting this from my white iPad in a dark room and the white bezel is no more noticeable or distracting than the black bezel IMHO.

I purposely got white and Im happy with it and if anything Im digging the sleeker look with no regrets at all.
 
I'm all for the white color now, since I've grown bored with the black color. Really, it is all personal preference.

For me, the white ipad goes well with my white iphone. I may change my mind with the next generation, whenever that releases, but for now, I'm pleased with the white.

Nice collection. Where did you get that white iphone?
 
I think the white iPad looks fan-freaking-tastic. Got the 64GB, 3G AT&T version with the leather red cover. It's sharp and clean looking.

Before I handed the sales girl my credit card, I specifically asked about their return policy. Everything, including the iPad can be returned without a restocking fee for 14 days. The last return date is even printed on your receipt. This was at an Apple Store so not sure about the other outlets.

But without a doubt, take yours back and exchange it. Supplies maybe spotty for a week or so. It's a beautiful device so you should be able to find one that makes you happy.

I don't remember where, but i've seen people sell the parts online (yes, the white home button, too). It was quite expensive though, but seeing what case he is rocking and his other gear I am guessing $ is not an issue for him :D I am sure if you google it you'll find it.

what did happen to me was after waiting for hours outside the apple store on west 67 street in NYC, they were out of black 64 att 3g's, and my only option was a white one so I was going to take that. The apple guy told me I had 2 weeks to exchange it for a black one, no restocking fee.

They ended upfinding one, he said he had to wrestle it away from one of his co-workers, but now I'm thinking maybe they are running short of black and are told to push the white by initially saying they have only white. I wouldnt put it past them.

So it would seem to me that Verizon would and should have the same policy as Apple. If they do not I would complain to the manager at the store, call your credit card company, do whatever you have to.

If apple will take it back so should any other reseller.

Also, Verizon did you no favors, you did them a favor by purchasing it from them and not some other reseller or an apple store.

Different story in W14th st Apple Store. They sold out all white 64gb AT&T model and only black model is available! I really want a white one so I picked up a wi-fi only 64gb
 
Sell it. You'll probably have to wait to get another one because they are selling like hot cakes. But for this exact reason, you are not going to lose money. Put it on eBay, do it in auction style. For item like this, a 3-day listing is long enough. DO NOT set a buy-it-now price, because you are probably going to set it too low.
 
The white sucks? What a surprise.

In related news, no movie theaters have white borders around their screens. Wonder why...

What did you guys expect?
