This is just ridiculous and incredibly uneducated. Do you have an iPad 2 in white? No. So how the hell can you say the shiny white bezel screws up your movie watching experience??

I am typing this right now from my white ipad, in the dark, and ALL I CAN SEE IS THE SCREEN. You do know the white bezel isn't BACKLIT right?? It doesn't GLOW. It's not bioluminescent or incandescent for crying out loud.

Seriously, just because you personally PREFER the color black doesn't mean the white is somehow defective! What is the point in bashing the other color if you yourself are not going to buy it?? It's so childish and immature.

And for the record, how many ****ing times a day are you in the dark watching movies????
Seriously.

Two words - grow up.

You're getting angry over colors. Calm it down, girlfriend.

In related news, almost every professionally framed photograph is given a white matte. Furthermore a white border around a front illuminated screen is a totally different proposition to a backlit screen.

There is no right answer, I like the white a lot, it matches my home decor, some won't like it, there is no "right" answer here.

It matches the keyboard dock better.... And the charger too. :)

Do you feel the same way when using a MacBook?? Hmmmm....so strange that all these other white-rimmed screens don't inspire these made up "yellowing" "washed out" delusions.

psychosomatic anyone?

Yep, wife has a Macbook. Regarding the yellow comment that I made, it still stands. The Macbook as a plastic bezel and the iPad has a glass bezel with color inside. Clearly a difference if you have ever compared the two.

Regarding white in general, it makes the screen look smaller than the black, as well as greying out whites.

Psychosomatic is between mind and body, not machine. You have an internet to look up terms that you are unfamiliar with...I suggest you use it.

My local Apple Store today only had black in stock. No chance for a white test run here.

HOWEVER!

I played with one today and I found an issue with the glass no meeting the frame correctly. (Bad seal) Anyone notice seperation on their white iPads where the glass curves in the corners?

Seems like the 'buyers remorse' button got hit a few too many times today. Relax Ginger.

Depending on the lighting, the white will discolor. (Like the lights in the Apple store) I saw it with my own old eyes. Just the nature of high gloss white paint. The color white, especially under glass will totaly refract light different than black.

I dont like the white one bit either. I'm of the camp that electronics should be black, especially things like these. You're going to be staring at it when you're using it. It's not like it's the back of the device.

Well, original poster here.

This might surprise you. Finally, a bit over 3 days after getting the white iPad, I think it might be growing on me.

When I look at it across the room now, it looks pretty nice. When I'm using it, it looks pretty nice too. It is starting to remind me as I thought it would of iMacs, iBooks, and iPods.

However, the backlight bleeding is starting to bother me more than the white even though it's not as bad as many of the pictures posted in that thread.

Therefore, I have no idea what to do now.

I think my next iPad will see me return to black.

Believe it or not, I think I might feel a bit sentimental though to swap to black now on this generation. Oddly, I can't believe it, the white not be so bad.

The white looks bad in black cases I have though.

I'm not certain I like the looks as much as my first generation black, but I'm really warming up to it.

Pretty insane I would change this much huh? I hope I don't go back to disliking it. Now if only they didn't have the light bleed.

I'm a fan of the white iPad 2, so I'm glad you are warming up to it. Just to let you know that if you change your mind, and later take it to Apple because of the light bleed, they will swap it only for an identical unit. They won't let you switch colors at that time.

Exactly my experience. The white bezel looked very yellowish in the Apple store.
