The only way I'll be purchasing the next iPad or any thereafter is if a microsd slot is included. If not, goodbye future iPads or iPhones for me. I'm done with IOS devices otherwise... Do you think iPad 9 will include an expansion slot? I'll be purchasing that one.

512 of RAM for iPad 2 is not acceptable. Much less for iPad 3. Are you out of your mind? I had to sell my iPad 1 due to its inability to work properly with iOS 5 I'm guessing due to low ram at 256mb, and lack of being able to reverse to IOS 4.

You will never see an sd card on a future iPad. That's one of those "that would be nice" but know it will never happen.

Here's an idea for a thread. Reply with what Apple must put in their new iPad in order for you to buy it.

1. Higher-res display. Not necessarily a Retina display, but enough to where if I want to do a remote desktop my desktop isn't all squished.

2. Quad-Core processor.

3. 10 Hour Battery life. I think this one is a given.

More ram would be nice, but I don't consider it a deal breaker if 512mbs is included with the iPad 3.

Here's an idea, why don't you read the tens of other threads exactly the same as this to save you starting yet another boring, pointless one!

SDXC comes to IPad eventually but not yet

I disagree. Apple will need to put a SDXC card in the system in the next couple of interations or lose momentum to their competitors. SDXC cards of 512 GB were announced at CES two weeks ago and we'll see the Terabyte cards by the time we see Ipad 4. SDXC cards are going to grow in size (and drop in price) faster then Apple is going to want to grow the flash size of the Ipad (though we are likely to see 128 GB ones with Ipad 3) so at some point we'll get an SDXC port or Apple will start selling portable clouds or something in that vain. Look at the threads about replacing computers with Ipads, that happens much easier if you can put all your data on the Ipad, not just 64 GB. I have 30 GB of Apps right now on my Ipad 2, I'll buy a 128 GB Ipad 3 if its available just for the room.

I haven't heard anyone else say this (so probably some reason why it wouldn't work) but I think it would be cool if it had Siri.

it meets my needs this time

More RAM > please
same or more battery life
more storage
make typing easier
same price range

>I wouldn't mind a USB dongle so I can transfer files from my external hard drives. Not ready to do the whole iCloud thing.

>oh and may the software I use on my iMac finally become available: final draft, Word etc.

I use my iPad as an adjunct to one of my major hobbies: Photography. I also use it at work (commercial sales).

I have an iPad 2 and will be very happy not upgrading, unless:

Nextgen has:
better screen resolution (preferably with possibility to color calibrate)
better "Office" environment
think mouse/keyboard and full-blown Word, Excel, etc., or equivalent.

I didnt buy an ipad 2. still using the ipad 1. never really needed the upgrade to 2. my ipad 1 plays everything perfect. however if the ipad 3 had a quad core i would consider it. thats pretty sweet

I guess you would also turn a Porsche 911 into a station wagon too.

Software, software, software!

Everyone always has HW upgrade wishes, but how about some SW/OS improvements? I've been able to resist the urge to buy an ipad this long because it just does not do enough in terms of creation for my money. For consumption, it's great, no question. And Apple has taken some steps in the right direction (garageband, imovie). There needs to be some sort of file storage system, or, preferably, a slick Apple alternative. When are we going to be able to do more than look at our photos through Apple SW? Simple editing, tagging with names, places, etc really shouldn't be that difficult. I know, there's a line between tablet and computer and the ipad isn't going to be able to do everything. But for me to bite, Apple needs to make more strides from the SW/OS end.

Might as well go check out Android! What good is the memory if Apple restricts what we use it for!

What do you mean by stylus support?

----------

What doyou think about cigarette lighter?:D

well, the iPad only supports the wide soft tip stylus. i find it hard to write with it and there is also a slight lag before a line appears on my iPad1 when you use a stylus.

There are some active stylus systems but they work only with certain apps.

I wish apple would support a fine tip stylus (or at least a finer tip compared to the wide tips) throughout the system.

Specs are nice but the reason why I gave up my iPad for BlackBerry PlayBook was because of...

Swipe from the Bezel. Allows me to instantly access my Music/Videos without having to "go back."

Have this feature on iPad and I will buy it.

I believe this is the year i get a full fledged tablet, i own a kindle fire and i love it.

I believe id love the ipad a bit more especially with a large high resolution screen.

The price is essentially what will determine if i get one or not, 500 for a mere 16gb is way too costly for such little room to breathe. Actually id take the ipad 2 if they made the 500 dollar model with 32 Gb.

Price will be the deciding factor if its the same pricing model this year ill be looking at what the competition is bringing to the table as well and decide from there.

I have an Android phone, and I will never buy another Android device again.

It's either Microsoft or Apple for me.

Very interested in Mango phones. Will look and buy the Ace when it arrives as it uses the same SIM card as the iPhone! Windows phones are starting to get interesting.

I tried the Playbook for 48 hours, it would take more than Swipe the Bezel before I used one of them again. What a POS in my opinion. RIM has a LONG way to go and I am not sure they will get to the finish line!

A "full Fledged tablet" to me would be running the WIndows OS with the power to run REAL software all day before charging! This would be the Holy Grail for me!

Even though Apple will introduce and I will purchase the iPad 3, the BIG new will be the whole new line of Windows 8 tablets. If they provide more freedom that what Apple does, Windows 8 will hurt them!
