Higher-res Display
Quad-core CPU
1GB RAM
128GB
LTE hotspot-capable
Higher-res front and back cameras
Liquipel as safety measure.

What I want in my iPad3...

Retina display, or a minimum of 2 megapixels...
HD facetime (better front camera)
Wired connectivity, e.g., a normal USB that can handle external drives
128GB or 256GB SSD
(I'll assume the processor and battery will be balanced.)
Don't care about speed of internet access, as I'll use WiFi for anything serious.

But the killer iOS feature I want is a real file system that can see external devices.

Everyone always has HW upgrade wishes, but how about some SW/OS improvements? I've been able to resist the urge to buy an ipad this long because it just does not do enough in terms of creation for my money. For consumption, it's great, no question. And Apple has taken some steps in the right direction (garageband, imovie). There needs to be some sort of file storage system, or, preferably, a slick Apple alternative. When are we going to be able to do more than look at our photos through Apple SW? Simple editing, tagging with names, places, etc really shouldn't be that difficult. I know, there's a line between tablet and computer and the ipad isn't going to be able to do everything. But for me to bite, Apple needs to make more strides from the SW/OS end.

Same here. Hw is nice, but even ipad2 have a lot of unused potential.
More complex os is what i really want. I don't beed mac os, or full open file system. But more flexibility, more creation..

Pressure sensitivity and an apple designed stylus for notes and drawing.
HD Camera

Yes, a cup holder and lit apple logo would be nice too. Wouldn't mind Siri talking dirty to me as well.

Hoping that Apple won't make this like iPhone 4S (although a decent upgrade, it doesn't use all of its potentials), but instead bring massive updates, in regard to our beloved Steve Jobs, here is what I expect.

Product line-ups:
$399 iPad 2 16GB, $499 iPad 3 32GB, $599 iPad 3 64GB, $699 iPad 3 128GB.

iPad 3:
A6 quad core CPU
Along with better GPU
1GB of RAM
Better camera (5MP back camera, HD FaceTime camera)
Retina Display (or anything above 300 dpi)

If Apple brings this to reality, I'm ditching everything I have right now. I can live with a device like this for the next two to three years without a PC :D

i think the 2. Quad-Core processor.and the 3. 10 Hour Battery life. This two is
contradiction, the quad-core would be more need for electricity

Here's an idea for a thread. Reply with what Apple must put in their new iPad in order for you to buy it.

1. Higher-res display. Not necessarily a Retina display, but enough to where if I want to do a remote desktop my desktop isn't all squished.

Even with a retina display wouldn't your desktop still be just as squished if Apple does as they did with the iPhone retina display and scales the higher resolution pixels down? You'll still have the same amount of desktop real estate as with the current iPad, but there'll be more detail per unit area.

I guess you would also turn a Porsche 911 into a station wagon too.

Yes, because having the ability to use an SD card to expand storage is exactly like turning a porsche into a station wagon. Wow.

What is there to lose by adding the ability to expand storage into an iPad? Explain this magnificent logic to me.

A surface coating that give it a better grip so you don't have to use a case. My iPod Touch is difficult to hold without the silicone case I have on it. With the added weight and size, the iPad is much harder to hold.

That said, I'm planning to get one when it's available - it was supposed to be my xmas gift but I opted to wait for the new version.

I am also curious to know ;)

Faster is always good, but I'm struggling to think of what an iPad 3 could bring that'd make it worthy of me upgrading, given that I only got an iPad 2 about three months ago. Like I've never used the iPad and thought "I wish this was faster" or "if only it had better battery life" or anything. The only "deficiencies" revolve around not having the software that I want at times (but that is always becoming less of a problem).

I agree with you, I use my iPad as my computer now. However, I've also never said "wow this thing is slow," but when iOS 6 comes out...I have a feeling we will be saying that. The same thing happened with my iPod touch 4g, it was super fast up until iOS 5 came out. I mean, it's still fast..just kinda leggy sometimes. I am going to wait for the next iPhone, because it will most likely have whatever the iPad 3 is going to have. Then I'll keep my iPad 2 and have the best of the two :)

Didn't I read some where that the iPad 3 would be a tad thicker ? If so, could that mean (Just a big wish) that Apple may also put a Mini or Full size USB port this time around ? One can only wish for this one. ;)

Im wishing for a USB port as well.

Why would anyone down vote a simple wish for a mini usb port on an iPad that you and I got ? That would be a nice addition, and very helpful in transferring files, photos and the like. Interesting bunch of down voters on this forum and no reason given that actually makes sense. :( ;)

what is the point of wishing for it, when apple has shunned it in every single mobile product? in fact, with ios5 they are pushing for no connection at all to the computer. i think a usb port would be added cost, added weight, and a step backwards at this point.

sd card? same thing, except that this one seems to fit even less into apple's design policy up to this point.

i used to want both (usb and sd), but at this point i don't need them so much anymore. surprising, but true, especially with cloud services.

I'm gonna keep waiting until the "next best" one comes out and.......well never get one I guess. Just buy one already....

Step backwards my ass. Micro USB is standardised across lots of gadgets, you could just take one charger with you for your digital camera, tablet, phone, etc, instead of needing a different one for each.

Think simple.

Sorry to say, doing SIMPLE is not in some heads around here nor at Apple. I have lots of stuff that would need a mini usb port, and no it would not cost all that much to the overall system nor weight.
