I'm reading the responses above in disbelief. There is absolutely nothing to lose, and EVERYTHING to gain by adding the ability to increase storage on iOS devices - and people seem to have come to the conclusion that a micro SD is a loss, a detriment to the line, as if you would turn a BMW into a bandwagon as someone put it... If people were willing to let go and not buy these devices due to some* reason - the company would change and add them. But as of now there is no incentive. ipads fly off the shelves with or without whatever feature is missing.

I you read my comment from that perspective then you misunderstood it. I in no way would frown upon the addition of a SD/Micro SD card, just don't expect Apple to include it anytime soon, if ever. From Apple's perspective, including an SD slot gives the customer the opportunity to spend their money elsewhere to expand the device's memory capacity, rather than pay Apple more money for it, and thus they aren't going to do add it as an option.

And as I mentioned before, MOST people don't need 128 GB, 256 GB, or 2 TB (as another poster touted as an advantage an Android tablet may offer) so including an SD slot is unnecessary. The reason why people don't stop buying the iPad for it's exclusion of the 'precious' memory card slot---they don't care about it. The 2 or 3 posters in this thread whining about it's omission represent a ridiculously small minority and let's be honest, most of these users seem to despise Apple anyways and adding a memory card slot isn't going to 'win them over'.

Neither the iPhone nor iPad have ever had expandable memory and they really seem to be suffering for it . Would it be a nice feature? Absolutely. Does Apple need to include it to succeed with they products? Absolutely not.

I will buy the iPad if...
...it goes on sale sometime after 1pm EST on Wednesday.
...and my wife gets the 2, meaning I'll get to use this one.
