Ok, this multiple account thing has been annoying for years, but now it's a real problem. I have a mm account that I haven't used to buy anything and two iTunes accounts (one is active, but I have some old purchases under the other). I need the email/contacts/calendar from my mm account but the media syncing from the other iTunes account. Losing either would make icloud pretty useless for me. I see there are others in this thread with this problem, and I'm sure many more. They really need to address this.

Who thinks iDisk, Gallery and some other goodies might be on for iOS 6 integration? (little hope for iWeb since it doesn't exist anymore.)

well, I can hope!

Apple should have prepared MobileMe users for the iCloud transition. I have so many unanswered questions. Most of which have already been asked here.

One of the many questions I have is: are my MobileMe aliases going to transfer, or do I need to notify my contacts that my perfectly good and paid for MobileMe email addresses are no longer going to work? Will my @mac.com addresses still work after I move to iCloud?

You are able to create aliases in iCloud, too.

So....

If my iTunes account is different than mobileme, it shouldn't matter?

I keep hearing different things on this.

Yes, existing aliases will continue to work. You can't make any new aliases.
Yes, your @mac.com addy will work.

Apple did release all this info, it's on their support pages.

No Windows XP support !

Seriously !!! Most companies still use XP. I use mobileme calendars in Outlook 2007 on my work computer so my personal agenda remains in sync between my iPhone, Macbook and work PC.
That's not going to be possible anymore... So, let me check :
- no more iDisk
- no more SL and Leopard
- no more Windows XP
- no more keychain
- no more iWeb

This looks like a huge, gigantic fail, doesn't it ?

So what should one do if they are upgrading to iOS 5 but can't move to Lion (yet)? Can you use iOS 5 with your mobileme calendars and email and without iCloud? Would you be tempted to make yet another appleid (one stays with your mobileme stuff and a new one to be used to back up your phone in the cloud, and potentially a third if you, like many other mobileme people, have a separate appleid for music)?

This has been the worst feature rollout I have ever seen from Apple. I did the migration from MobileMe to iCloud, and it said successful. I didn't get any notification on my iPhone or iPad. When I go into MobileMe account or iCloud, it crashes on both devices. It seems my mail didn't transfer over. I can't get mail to show up now using either iCloud or MobileMe. It seems the incoming server is missing, and I can't even change it. So now I have no email. I hope they didn't lose my data.

I'm having the same problem :/

A number of syncing services that had been available for MobileMe, including Dashboard Widgets, Dock Items, Keychain, Mail Accounts, Mail Rules, Signatures, and Smart Mailboxes, and Mac OS X Preferences, will become unavailable immediately upon moving to iCloud.

So how do I sync keychain items now? And all the other things that made MobileMe worth the money?

Does anybody have an easy solution to this?

'evening.

Having seen https://www.macrumors.com/2011/10/12/icloud-and-migration-from-mobileme-services-now-live/ I've just migrated my firstname.lastname@me.com account to iCloud. This was relatively painless.

However it keeps referring to this as an ID, which confuses me. I've always had a firstname.lastname AppleID which is different to my firstname.lastname@me.com MobileMe account - I had it before my MobileMe account. firstname.lastname@me.com is used for MobileMe (iDisk, email address, etc) and firstname.lastname AppleID is used for iTunes purchases (Music, iPhone Apps, etc), Apple Retail Store reservations, Apple.com support, etc.

Should this have been combined with my MobileMe account in the iCloud migration? Or am I now going to have one account for iCloud, and one account that has all my iTunes purchases?

I R CONFUSED

Create iCloud accounts for each phone and share the App/iTunes store account with all the phones. Verified to work, I have 2 iPhones, iPod touch, iPad.

Okay - so I can have multiple iCloud accounts linked to the one Apple ID? How does that work with things like music and apps (iCloud syncing).

Back Up!

Everyone please remember to back up all your mobileme data before doing the transition. There are support notes on the apple site showing how. Back up all calendars, mail and contacts before moving. It's only wise.

I haven't heard what happens to mac.com addresses? Those will still be useable to receive e-mails, right?

I'd like to keep my .mac address too. Can anyone confirm this?

Edit: Answer is yes, see post #80

Sincerely, it does not. Supporting a 10 year old operating system shouldn't be responsibility of Apple. The IT departments should keep up with technology. It is not Apple's fault.

i'm already missing Gallery and iDisk. i dont really see any appeal for iCloud on the mac. let's say i'm on a friends mac and i want to look at some of my pictures, i cant do that anymore???

i thought all of my pictures that i take on my iPad or iPhone would sync back to the cloud so i could look at them on the iCloud browser platform, but we cant do that right?

the cloud is basically just for synching of more than one iDevice? call me stupid but i thought everything that i change on my iDevices would be accessable from the iCloud browser platform on any computer :(

i almost made the move to iCloud. made backups of my contacts, calendars, safari bookmarks, everything.

but i can't click that button. not yet.
oh keychain, you had me at sync.
