This is a disgrace...!

I cannot upgrade my Mac to Lion as almost every plugin i use daily for work is incompatible with Lion... with no updates in sight!

Why on Earth is iCloud compatible with a older version of Windows (Vista) and not with a x.x.2 version old APPLE OS!!!!!!!

I use mobileme to sync my calendar with my iOS devices... does this mean i will have to find an alternative service to keep this sync alive??????

Truly disgusted Apple.

This.

I bought a new Mini in May (couldn't wait for refresh) and now they are telling me that iCloud/iOS5 won't run on a system they sold me five months ago?!?! So no iPhone 4S for me either? This is beyond crappy. Surely they can't let this happen...

Looks like I'll be doing the "not recommended" thing and using my existing MobileMe account as my iCloud account, and my Apple ID used for iTunes, etc. (a gmail acct) for purchases...

Why is that not recommended? What's the alternative?
Wondering because I have a MobileMe account I'd like to transfer contacts, mail, calendar from - but I use a gmail address for iTunes purchases.

On Apple's support page, the "recommended" solution is to use the same account for everything.

Does anyone know whether iWeb works in Lion? There seems to be confusion among workers at the Apple Store about this. I know I'll have to find a new webhost come July, but will the program still work if I upgrade out of SL?

i almost made the move to iCloud. made backups of my contacts, calendars, safari bookmarks, everything.

but i can't click that button. not yet.
oh keychain, you had me at sync.
How do you make backups of all this stuff? I can't seem to find the directions or a website to tell me how to do this

Thanks

I just did this. No you don't have to wait, but it advises you to remove add now before you transition. They will stay mobile me.

What's the deal with remove/add? Why would you do this? What happens to their account if you 'remove' it? Does it get deleted?

It's unfortunate that Documents in the Cloud only support iOS version of iWork. I hoped that my Pages documents between my multiple macs would be synced, but nah. Only iOS Pages has that.

Ah, I see. Well maybe they shouldn't have forced me to create a new Apple ID when signing up for MobileMe... The one I already had was working just fine. But I guess that was the point of your post. I'm a little less confused now though, thanks!

iCloud Works on Snow Leopard

I'm still playing around with it, but Mail, Contacts, and Calendar iCloud functionality works with Snow Leopard.

How the ******* are we to use one account if I have and apple ID that uses my old Hotmail address for iTunes ... and one account that uses mobile me as my primary email client ???? How did apple drop the ball on this one ... So much lack of support for Mobile Me clients migrating its unreal !!!!!!!

Were can one find the answer so that my Apple ID becomes my Mobile Me address insted of my Old Hotmail Address that I dont use anymore, and doing this I get to keep all of my old purchases from my old Apple ID ??

This is starting to smell an awful lot like the mobile me roll-out disaster! The questions we are asking seem pretty simple to me. How has Apple not addressed this?? If we are all having this problem, think of the millions of other people who are going to be hitting this same roadblock. It might make sense to hold off and not touch icloud for a few weeks. I still wish I hadn't made the huge leap of changing my email to mobile me.... STILL REGRETTING THAT DECISION.

?Not sure what you mean, but Pages on Lion syncs with the iOS version. So if you make a document on pages on mac it should be on your iPad and/or iPhone, and I assumed any other mac with lion and iCloud. Is this not the case?

already mobile me 2.0 release day disaster repeating itself? ive tried to go on the site now but all i get is a lovely spinning wheel on top of those huge icons

No iCloud love for me. I'm not leaving SL, and I'm not loosing what I need synced currently and already paid for through June of 12'

Got a year to think about this...

I might be in the minority on this, but iCloud is a dummy'd down version of MM, nothing more.

Your link took me to a non-working page

Really? I just clicked on it and it opened up just fine again. Try a google search for "How to back up MobileMe data", that's the name of the Apple support article on their support.apple.com web site.

Even though it says it's to back up MobileMe data, it's really for anyone who wants to back up their data. It tells you how to manually export/back up your address book, and then your calendar, then your mail, etc.

Well, whether you are minority or not is irrelevant but iCloud is not dummy'd down version of anything Apple has offered before. Dummy'd down means only some futures are missing and there's nothing new. Mobile Me did not have anything remotely resembling documents in the cloud.

Sincerely, it does not. Supporting a 10 year old operating system shouldn't be responsibility of Apple. The IT departments should keep up with technology. It is not Apple's fault.

1. ensuring maximum compatibility, even with a 10 year old system that still represents 38% of corporate PCs, should be responsibility of Apple. Otherwise the "cool technology" becomes "proprietary crap" rapidly.

2. Apple is focusing on a streamlined user experience... putting aside Win XP, Leopard and Snow Leopard users creates a fragmented and frustrating situation for consumers.

3. It is the final proof, if proofs were still needed, that Apple is now miles away from the Corporate world

The experience was beautiful, elegant, and flawless. Even Delightful.
