WHat if you have 10.6.8 Snow Leopard and you cant upgrade to Lion

Some months back there was talk about iCloud support possibly coming to Snow Leopard in 10.6.9 (which would presumably be released alongside 10.7.2). I'm not sure if it was ever confirmed (asked about it on the previous page).

Saw some folks mentioning about merging or migrating existing/multiple AppleIDs. Noticed this JSON return on the icloud.com site from a validator object. May mean something per the references to aliases, may mean nothing.

This is better news, I hope it comes with that Lion release

This way you can test the service and still have you MobileMe keychain sync and other services that didn't make it to the cloud. So I am happy to have for the first few months 2 id's.

no way of merging apple ID's :( i have a gmail and me.com and would like to have just one ID! :( supposedly they where working on this problem guess it didnt make it in time for the launch?

Able to login

I'm not a developer and I can login at icloud.com

At the top it shows the attached notice

Hey can I only use iCloud on Lion?? I have a gen 1 intel MacPro and I heard its no good with Lion...

It says To Use Mail, Contacts, calender and Iwork upgrade yourby updating to IOS 5 or OS X Lion... DOes this mean we cant use a PC?

Which ID should I use?

I'm confused... I know I can't merge my IDs but I don't know which one to use for this

1) A non-Apple email account that I have used for iTunes purchases since iTunes first came out (long before dot mac or mobile me)

2) A Mobile Me account I use for syncing, find my iPhone, and other Mobile Me services.

What ID should I log in and set up with? I'm guessing if #1 then I can just sync my contacts and calendars up through iCloud and my mobile me data then just becomes an island until deleted. Correct? Or is there a better way? And if I do it this way I'll lose my current mobile me email addresses, or can I import them into iCloud.

Or should I use my mobile me account, and it will just work with my purchases made through my other Apple ID still, like Match and all.

So confusing. :(

So i have a mobileme @me.com address that i use for all my mobileme services, primarily for syncing my ical events and find my iphone/ipad....

But my apple ID is my gmail address that i use for all my online purchasing... and have done for years.....

What are we supposed to do in this situation.....?

EDIT.... Just saw the post above as my post arrived....! :) Seems that aplpe may have to look into this problem soon!

Exactly the same problem for me.... I also use @me.com and @gmail.com for app store/itunes

mobileme and iCloud seems to be mixing. I signep up my iPhone for mobileme and it said "welcome to iCloud"...

I'm going to use my .me account from now on as my primary email and apple id.

It would be nice to be able to set up a secondary account so you can still download stuff purchased on an old apple id.

Up and running..

That's me fully up and running in the free 5gb iCloud account. I got bored and seeing the IOS 5 jailbreak is due soon, I upgraded to 5 this morning. All in all painless, fast and worthwhile. This is on a 2 year old 3GS as well - I'll have to hang onto this for longer than I was previously hoping, so its great to see it running so well. As mentioned above, my recent iCloud success bests my numerous previous efforts possibly due to me setting things up from a new iPhone upgrade: I got a prompt to create an iCloud account here. It won't replace a hardware upgrade :(, but it's pretty cool for a cup of coffee and a bit of button pressing :)

I'm able to sign into iCloud with my Apple ID (which I use for iTunes only, I have a separate MobileMe account) - and I can access the Find My iPhone feature. However, I cannot locate my phone as it is not yet upgraded to iOS 5.

I also tried upgrading my MobileMe account to an iCloud one, but it is not yet eligible.

I know... so impatient!

Find my I works for my iPad and iPhone. Don't own a mobileme

And herein lies the problem, can one download old purchases using a different/new iCloud email address/Apple ID???

It seems poorly thought out that everyone simply uses the same email for everything apple related!

As pointed out in this thread, Itunes came long before MobileMe and therefor people have used other email providers for iTunes... simply allowing us to roll all relevant email addresses into 1 iCloud primary address will solve this.

Let hope it happens.

Same problem for me. At the time I am in holidays in turkey and can hardly read MR because of very slow Internet connection. No chance to upgrade even with all my equipment at hand :(

Enjoy the cloud!
