But, the statement "it's simply not our place to become involved" is a poor reaction. This is why women are told to yell "fire" when they are being raped, because people don't want to involve themselves, why kids get brutally abused because people don't want to involve themselves. We have become a nation, heck, a world of people who don't want to get involved.
There's a very large difference between involving yourself to actively prevent a crime in progress and harassing an unknown person, who may or may not be guilty.

Let me start off by saying I absolutely hate cats...

but there is absolutely no reason to do torture any living animal. Why would you ever do that to such a serene creature????? The way I see it, this red neck oklahoma piece of trash is or is only a few steps away from being capable of torturing a person.

True, just the way you made it sound is that it wasn't our place to get involved.

And that's exactly the course of action one should take if they feel the need to get involved

Well, we feel the need to get involved. And like I said I do agree with the harassing part. That is just asking for trouble for anyone that does the harassing. I did not email the name that was given nor did I call. I went immediately to the authorities even though I too would love to show that kid what kind of pain he has caused. But that would get me nowhere.

I sort of agree with this. If you go to far in calling and emailing it could be considered harassment and you lower yourself to the illegal actions that this kid did. If more people would just get involved a little more maybe this world could change for the better...
Who the **** are you to say this?
Just because I called/emailed this kid?

It undermines our entire legal system and right to due process, including the presumption of innocence, the right to a fair trial, the right to an impartial jury of peers, and protection from cruel and unusual punishment.
Not that it is anybodys buisness, but the messages/phone call didn't contain any threats, and I was trying to be moderately civil.
This kid is guilty. 100%. Have fun sticking up for him.

Thanks very much to all that have sent this info into the proper authorities, I am really looking forward to updates on this story.

Please calm down. Do you not understand that harassment is more illegal in the eyes of the law than what this kid did. I am not saying you are doing anything to lower yourself, it is a generalized statement. I am just as pissed as you are about this but there are other things that can be done to ensure that justice is served. And wether you like it or not we do have due process in this country. And I do not believe anyone is sticking up for this kid. quite the opposite...

So you called him? How'd that go?

Thanks to the videos macbookairman posted, we should all be sure that Dusty is safe!

So evidently 4chan /b/ helped save Dusty! It's all over thanks to /b/
Finally they did something good!

It's a living creature who feels fear and pain just like you do.

I agree. Anybody that doesn't think this is wrong needs help.

The kid is innocent until proven guilty in court.

I'm only sticking up for due process, which is granted equally to everyone.

OK, I didn't watch the video because I refuse to, BUT...can you see the kid in the video? Can you see his face and tell who he is? If so, then HE IS GUILTY. I get so sick of hearing this "due process" and "he is innocent until found guilty in a court" crap if there is plain obvious video evidence.

If you cannot see him in the video, and people are just assuming who this person is, then maybe so.

You mentioned earlier that we (in the USA) have a legal system, and you're right.

Until we have a true justice system I think that the more people who feel compelled to get involved in issues they find troubling the better. Maybe this jerk of a kid gets his case dismissed via our legal system due to some legal technicality...is he really innocent?

According to the law he would be. Unfortunately the law, which is there ostensibly to protect the people and thus society, only serves itself and is blind to right or wrong.

It's blind to justice.

And if that kid doesn't receive the punishment that society demands, the videotape he made to celebrate his monstrous behavior to another living creature still shows that he's guilty. And he always will be, in everyway that really matters. Which is why I'm not too concerned about what happens or doesn't happen to him legally.

Because knowing what I know now, if his resume ever crossed my desk he would not get a job. If he started dating my daughter it would end immediately. If he was broke down on the side of the road I'd drive by and not so much as wave at him. Whereas not everyone will feel that way, many will. Basically, his actions will ostracize him from many opportunities that he may otherwise have found available to him.

If there's a hell, maybe his will be filled with cats...

AMEN!! :D whew, that was refreshing in more ways than one.....

Sometimes I'm proud to be an Okie, but it's still sad I'm living in the state as him...Geographically, not mentally.

I like Arizona, the maximum fine is $150,000 instead of Oklahoma's $5,000. We don't take kindly to them animal abusers. :D But then again you guys do a max of 5 years jail time we only do 1 year. It should be at least a year working in an animal shelter...

How far away! I would love you if you went and asked him what his problem is.

Well that is tempting. I am less than 1.5 hours to the northeast. Just a quick shot down I-44 and I am there. Hopefully he is dealt with by the local authorities ... and more importantly by his parents.
