got commander keen 4 to run great. nesticle and jnes dont work but got a diff nes emulator running but an emulator inside of an emulator sucks

I'm close to success with getting a game boy emulator working. Got several running, so far they have all been really slow (10 mins to get past copyright info). I've got one running now though, I think if I change the #cycles etc. it might work.

I also wanted to share some screenshots looking at the root in Windows :p

I don't think you can actually edit / write files on the iOS root folder (for better or worse). Probably due to permissions or the way that DOSBox works. I tried to copy and rename a file and got an error telling me to check the original paths of the files. (It was the AppStore icon.png file). I was just curious... :)

A reader commented on TUAW site that DOSBox does not allow write access, however iirc the Windows and OS X version does.

I tried running Dark Forces but it ran too slow. Opening the configuration file on the Mac it reads that core is set to simple. I'll play around with this later, but I'm sure I can get some fun programs running that will run decently. Still wondering if this will work with a Bluetooth Keyboard or an iPad Dock Keyboard. It didn't with the USB/Dock Adapter, but there's only one way to find out. However I'd guess No since it uses a 'custom' keyboard input and not the standard iPad pop-up keyboard.

So anyone got Office 4.0 to work ?

Would be amazing to get Word 6.0 working and get 100% features off it. The same goes for Access.

Rockin some original Grand Theft Auto and Commander Keen right now. I think it was pulled because if you can access the root, and this app allows file transfer, you could slip in unapproved apps?

iDOS runs as user mobile not as root so when the mount point is mounted it's done so with the permissions of mobile user not as the root user - so you may be able to list files but should not be able to change any of the files or delete any files.

Installed windows 3.1 on iphone;)
STEPS:
Anybody needing Windows 3.1 : www.icascot.com/WINDOWS31.ISO.zip (extract it, mount the ISO and add the files via iTunes to iDos).

1- extract it, mount the ISO and add the files via iTunes to iDos
2 - Launch iDos on your iPad, when C: thing is blinking, type setup.exe
3 - Follow on screen instructions.
4 - To launch Windows 3.1, type in win

Enjoy

Is there any chance that iDOS will reappear in the AppStore after removing copyrighted content? I don't want to jailbreak my iPad just for this app, but I will if there will be no other ways to install it.

Thanks for the tip on Windows 3.1, will be nice to get some UI, although, I would be lying if I said I dont get nostalgic to those long sessions, deep into the night in the basement hovered over an old IBM PC playing Doom and Flight Unlimited and typing into that deep black and grey command line.

This is yet to be seen - When Chaoji comes around I will find out and see what needs to be done or why Apple pulled the app from the App Store

Although unsupported, do you think I could install IBM OS/2 Warp? I have the floppies, and I recall installing it through MS/DOS back in the day...
