I sincerely hope you are promoting this in other sections of the forums as well. There are always, "Should I buy now," threads or of course the various update threads.

Furthermore, since the mods haven't made any effort to crack down on posts you think are repeats, it is safe to say that at the very least they think it is fine. So do us all a favor and quit whining about it. As you are filling these threads will useless discussion in your attempt to play mod. And to be frank, I find you much more annoying than a billion reposts of the same general topic.

If you would rather continue your crusade, I expect to see a PSA from you in every section of the forums telling people to search and asking the mods to spend their time locking threads and give the poster a link to the "master" thread that covers their topic.

Oh dear, another downwardly spiraling thread.

Oh dear, another downwardly spiraling thread.

In case you missed it this thread spiraled down long ago, long before I posted. And I believe it has even hit the ground. Too bad some of them survived...

No worries, Crawn is reporting my post as we speak. So touchy. It will be interesting to see if he reports me and replies.

I'm not reporting you, why should I? You're just stating your opinion on the matter.

Do you feel you should be reported?

P.S. And why do you say

I saw you were reporting a post in your profile. I assumed it would be mine. Fair enough though. Good day, or night.

Want to qualify that statement, good sir?

Its just usually a good idea that when you post information on the world wide web you have some sort of point, something interesting to say, or maybe just give us a funny anecdote. Adhere to that advice and you will go far.

I saw you were reporting a post in your profile. I assumed it would be mine. Fair enough though. Good day, or night.

You can contact a moderator or god and ask them if I did. I did not. What I did report was for my post on the main forum page to be deleted which was the thread "The OFFICIAL Mac Pro is out of date and needs an update thread" because it really is no use.

So next time, before you go and judge me, or anyone else on this forum or in the real world, please get facts straight and not be so fast to judge as you already have. And I'm asking that nicely, not in a vengeful way, just try to know me before trying to crucify me.

Back on topic here, does anyone think Apple will give a reason for the lack of an update?

No,they dont need to give reasons to anyone. Hardly any company that creates revenue, let alone the amount Apple does, has to reason it´s actions to shareholders let alone end clients.

....They should at least apologize to their customers...

Yeah, definately! I want stevo to come here and wash my car and massage my dog.. Like...wtf??!

Or they might do a silent update, ouch.

So what? Really,so what??! Then you at least would have a new computer! And MP hasnt been the crown jewel of apple for long time and it sure as hell wont be in the future. It was a bit different in the moto/ibm era when apple could actually surprass pc:s in speed and whatnot. Now that they use the intell hw, that is a nonissue.

I have tried to say out loud a hypothesis why apple hasnt updated their MP line for 512 days : There wouldnt be enough benefit to do so.

What would they replace with? Clovertowns? Ok,pity that many,if not majority of applications thread so poorly that the clovs would perform in most programs equally or even more poorly than woodcrests.
Say,the 4x3.0 would be replaced with 8x2.66?
Ok, video stuff mostly would be faster or the same, but adobes stuff could/would be actually slower due to poor optimation! Why on earth would apple would want to do "update" like that? That would be bad for the image. And it would crave money for the redesign/testing that they would have to do. And it doesnt matter if the clows cost the same than woodies.

So in the end you did have the fastest computer to date (the octo 8x3.0) for those who needed it and a decent lineup behind it for those who used the MP for different kind of tasks.
Ok,they could be cheaper but with apples history of not reducing prices about ever, that is a thing witch is futile to whine about.

And about the whining "why hasnt apple updated other specs" : Please apple, dont update other specs. It is us users that ends up being the payers for the stuff anyway..
If possible I would buy apples stuff bareboned, no memory and no HDDs. Their policy of charging so much premium doesnt fit my habit of consuming..So much cheaper to get the stuff elsewhere and with better warranties too.

And about the penryns...Well if most of the PC manufacturers didnt manage to ship a single unit of the new workstation penryns during the last year, what chances would apple had then? It would have been nice due to tax reasons to get them last year, but, what do you do?
And the unaviability of them hasnt forced single firm/enduser out of the business...
If they have, that company has deserved to perish anyway.

Chill out dudes and dudettes. Go out, take the wife to a dinner or go to the movies. The day of new MPs will eventually come.

That also presupposes that Apple HAS done anything wrong. From a business standpoint, they haven't. A lot of people here need to get a life.

Sir,I agree with you.

Its just usually a good idea that when you post information on the world wide web you have some sort of point, something interesting to say, or maybe just give us a funny anecdote. Adhere to that advice and you will go far.

Yes. I can see precisely what that has to do with coherency... However, I will take your advice because I want go real far on the internet. So is this post below a good example of making a point, being interesting or maybe funny? If so, I will do my best to mimic your posting style.

Thanks for the advice good sir! You have taught me more than I will ever need.

In regards to being touchy, your last few posts haven't done a good job of proving otherwise.

Anyhow, at least we have something in common though. I also reported the new post you made to consolidate Mac Pro discussion. Such irony.

Sir Pancakes to the rescue.

I haven't been trying to be "touchy" or on edge or be the super-god of Macrumors forum. I was just stating how I feel about this problem.

I just dislike how a lot of people on here jump on what I'm saying as a personal attack towards them or the site. As you can see from my reply to you, I didn't take what you said as a personal attack nor report anything you said. It was your opinion and I respect that.

I just wish people on here would respect mine instead of taking it as me going on a "crusade" against the forum. I'm just really trying to help out and point out that there are threads like these already and as Mitthrawnuruodo said in my thread "The OFFICIAL Mac Pro is out of date and needs an update thread" - "I think there's quite enough threads on this topic floating around on the forums." And there are and that from a moderator too.

And it is ironic huh? :p Did you report it really for being useless or because you thought I was reporting you?  Either way, it's cool with me.

See another problem you have Timestamp, or "Turbo" as your friends call you, is that you rely too heavily on emoticons. While some viewers of the world wide web might find that slap animation charming, the more veteran users will look more kindly upon sophisticated writing. I would be more than happy to workshop with you. Let me know.

Duly noted. I understand what you are saying. I find repeated posts to be as annoying as you do, however, it is a losing battle. There are just too many newbs and too many people who need a personal thread to ensure their answer is more personal. My aim wasn't to personally attack you. I just find more and more members joining in the "search party," and that is more annoying than the reposts to be honest. And that is why my post was rather, firm i suppose.

I don't mind taking a peak in a repeat thread, sometimes they offer something a little different. Then I look, and wow the first three posts are telling the person to search the forums in a rude manner. In my opinion, this is what is taking away from the community.

People have been fighting the posts in this forum for a long time. And to be honest, it generally comes from the people who have Mac Pros already. I don't know if that is relevant. Interesting though, at the very least.

My recommendation to you, and to everyone here is to chill on this matter. It is causing unnecessary headache for everyone. If you don't like the thread, don't join in. Don't even read it if it bugs you that much. If it is a useless thread, it will die eventually.

And I didn't report you because I thought you were reporting me. I reported it because it was the antithesis to what you had been saying in here. :D

Yet another ironic, and equally ridiculous statement from you. As nearly every reply to me has involved an emoticon. And I must say, sophistication is hardly your strong point. It seems your skill is drive-by insult on a random member. I must say, it is quite cute that you have taken such a liking to me. ;)

Considering your contributions have been... well, zero. I will be adding you to my ignore list. My hope is that you will fade back into troll land.

One final note, I have no friend that calls me "Turbo." If that is somehow your attempt to be funny, you have failed miserably. And I definitely will not be workshopping with a failure.

I know what you mean about the "do a search" thing. I try to make it nice and I even do a search for them and give them the threads to help point in the right direction. And it usually turns into a flame war, lol! :p

I agree with you on the manner in which people on here are talking to others. It's to the point of almost name calling. I'm starting to fall in your camp of just not bothering after a certain number of posts. Help as much as I can, just like I've been doing, and moving on. I just hate when I post the search results someone jumps on me and tells me to stop doing that when all I was doing is trying to help.

Oh well, lol. I'm trying to be the good guy with a Mac Pro and give the insight some need. Hopefully that'll shine through for users in need. :D

2006- CNET Most Intelligent Reader

I don't know about the 15th, but clearly nothing good is coming on this thread, and that has nothing to do with the original post. Why don't you guys take this debate to a more appropriate thread so that those of us who are interested in the Mac Pro don't have to wade through this?

I am reliably informed (I work in advertising and marketing) that a significant number of people who work for a number of differing computer and software manufacturers (other than Apple) are employed specifically to post on all the various Apple-related forums, extolling the virtues of Windoze Pc's, and dissing Apple, in an effort to persuade people to either switch from OSX/Apple to Windoze/PC, or to sway those who might be thinking of switching from PC to Mac, etc. It's a standard technique in so-called "viral marketing". These people are clearly employees of Dell or some other PC related company, and are PAID to start such threads. Don't waste your time on them. They may not convince the die-hard Apple fans to switch, but the overall effect of such threads has been demonstrated to sway the minds of visitors who are wavering in their decisions. It would be better if the moderaters actually banned such posts, as the forum is clearly called "MACrumors", and therefore all posts should be about Macs and Mac issues, not sneaky marketing attempts to thrust Windoze PC's under our noses under the fake camoflage of tapping into our fears by supposedly talking about MacWorld.

Just go read the book "NO LOGO" by Naomi Klein.

Everything is there about corporate giants manupilating the public by any means for their own benefits.

That is considered very small scale.
One th LARGE scale, it applies to our beloved GOVERNMENT with their media, aka TV, news, newspaper, etc.

Apple has a loyal fanbase. Most of 'em (especially Mac Pro owners) are set on sticking with Apple, where as someone else might go from HP to Dell to Sony without a second thought. When you have the kind of customers Apple has, you should treat 'em well. They should at least acknowledge the slight neglect the Mac Pro has seen. If you don't see it that way, then fine.

I have tried to say out loud a hypothesis why apple hasnt updated their MP line for 512 days : There wouldnt be enough benefit to do so.

Um, no. The processors are fine. They were the best available until a month or so ago. People really wanted a new graphics card or two, a bump in HDD and RAM and a price drop on the old cards. Apple bumped up all there other computers in this manor, but not the Mac Pro. This is why people are frustrated. If you can't understand that then I won't wast my time arguing it anymore.
