People really wanted a new graphics card or two, a bump in HDD and RAM and a price drop on the old cards. Apple bumped up all there other computers in this manor, but not the Mac Pro. This is why people are frustrated. If you can't understand that then I won't wast my time arguing it anymore.

Sorry,I forgot to add a disclaimer to the end of my post : I am a official supporter of better gfx cards and I for starters can not understand apples policy behind lack of them. Dont get me wrong!
I also work on my MP several hours a day so I am not a casual whiner either.
So I totally agree on that with you!

But I dont agree on the HDD and ram part. I honestly dont long for updates in that arena, because normally the updates transform into higher price/expences to the end user, one way or another. I really would want the MP without either so I could sort out the best solution that suits me.
And many pros agree.
Many people dont want airports and BT as basic features, because many work enviroments dont even allow them for security reasons. But that doesnt stop some tourons about whining that they should be in the base computer.
Same thing with the ACDs webcam.

So,for most professionals the best would be a completely customizable barebone, that everyone could tune to fit their needs. It is that hobbyists and enthusiastics dont get that, and thus whines here in the forums that their beloved MP is "crippled".

Re: the usual Mac vs PC pricing debate - if there's one thing I've learned in the 25 years I've had so far, it's that you get what you pay for as a rule of thumb. I don't think Macs are any exception. You get better quality, longevity and resale value for starters. I've also looked at the components that go into Macs and tried to build an equivalent PC (basically high end laptop hardware for the books and the iMac, Workstation level hardware for the Mac Pro) and hmm it works out about the same. So apart from the well-known extortion if you customise it (extra RAM etc), the pricing seems pretty reasonable.

There's no "cheap beige box" style Mac, or "Apple PC" if you prefer, probably because Apple (with Jobs in charge) have higher standards than that. You want a PC, you get a PC.

I see what the OP is saying though. The Mac was largely neglected last year whilst Apple concentrated on the iPhone and iPods, and especially with the neglect of the Mac Pro, people are getting worried that nothing seems to be happening... they're getting bored. Hopefully we'll get some exciting things on the 15th though :)

!!

no need to wait until the 15th for my update!! Yippie!!

Now i have to look at whether its any good lol!!

you can all thank me for these updates! :p

Apple clearly DO read my threads. I feel so special!

...I'm going back to Windows.

I'm amazed Apple have not updated the MP for sometime now, they're still using 7 series nVidia cards for gods sake. If there is no big update at MW then i'm off.

I actually can't see any reason to stay with macs for my needs. I run animation software that runs better on XP64 bit, i can run Adobe CS3 and i can play DX10 games on a Quad Core system with a 8800GTX card that costs less than a low end iMac.

I can use Safari and iTunes on Windows.

Leopard is nice, but isn't all that "AMAZING" - What reason is there to stay with Apple? Convince me!

whaaaaaa. i dont know what to do if i cant buy a faster comp every 2 months to game on.
C-YA... good riddence.

???

you might like to a) check the date/time of the first post, b) read the whole thread, c) visit here www.apple.com - apparently theres been some sort of update or something

You'll never know, maybe the Pro was all they were going to announce. Come next week they do the "I know it's your birthday but you got your main present last week so we're giving you a patch to Leopard" kind of thing :D
