Will you consider changing phones?

To me, at the first iPhone was to put my iPod and a phone together into one.

Bingo. I hated having two seperate devices in my pockets all the time. Loved my Ipod Touch and my phone, but being able to simplify it by carrying only the Iphone now is the one the key reasons for me to stick with it.

Samsung Infuse 4G

I like how it has a 4.5" screen, 4G, shooting 1080p video.

ah yes, "it shoots 1080p video so it has to shoot amazing video" mentality. kinda like "it shoots more MP so the pictures are better"

1080p, and all that stuff means nothing. from my experience (and from YouTube videos), the iPhone already shoots one of the greatest videos from a smartphone and i doubt they're gonna degrade that part of the phone.

also, i can bet you 1080p is useless for you, as it is for me and 99% of the people with an iPhone. if you really wanna shoot quality video, you get a proper camera. i'm talking about $5000+

i highly doubt you're going to import 1080p video into iMovie and make a home video (example), then export a couple minute clip that weighs a couple of GB to show your family and friends... who are probably using a 720p tv (if that) or watching it on their computer.

iphone may not have the best specs, but it has the best overall mobile experience. Im sticking with iPhone.

Agreed. iOS and the iPhone may not have the best specs out there, but it meets my needs: a rock solid OS that doesn't crash, great selection of apps, smooth integration between 2 iPhones, iMac, and MBP.

I have too much invested in the Apps for the iPhone to consider switching; thus I won't unless there is a REALLY good reason to. . . which, most likely, there won't be.

I have already tried switching to Android. I tried the Atrix and loved it. Screen was nice, screen size was nice, but the problem was the battery. When that gets worked out on Android phones I may switch.

For now though I will only use my iPhone. Ready to see what comes with iOS 5 and the iPhone 5.

I've tried all other platforms and found them lacking so i'm resigned to iOS/iPhone because it is the standard.

My opinion probably doesnt mean much because i am content with iP4 and probably wont be upgrading until 6. If there was a reason to switch then ill consider it then. If I was eligible soon I can tell you I would be at least waiting to see what 5 is all about and most likely getting it.

If they don't overhaul notifications in iOS 5, I will start considering alternatives. I'd love a 4" screen but that isn't a deal-breaker for me.

I agree 100%!!!

Coming from Blackberry it is crap to not hear the pitiful notification after waiting for 15 minutes for a email! I hear this complaint over and the best Apple can do is give me repeat notifications! If I did not hear it the first time the chances are I will not the 2nd and 3rd times.

Apple needs to get off it's high horse and look at what RIM uses!

i got a BB Bold 9650 for verizon..i wish i got the iphone 4. next smartphone*(2 years from now..) will not be a BB, hopefully a nice new iPhone comes out in spring 2013:rolleyes:

Specs are written by engineers. While I appreciate technological advances, my main concern is the user experience. So far, I've not seen anything that rivals the iPhone in that regard. I'll be upgrading my 3GS this summer and unless another company pulls a rabbit out of its hat, the upgrade will be an iPhone.

If Apple does not create a new model with the types of features they are capable of,
it will be disappointing. My iPhone 4 is great, yet in the tech field theirs always room for improvement.

I don't care about specs or styling as much as functionality, since I use all the various features of a smartphone.

Many people only use some of the features of their phone or computer for that matter. Therefore a small attractive phone is all they need.

Going forward the current trend in smartphones is a 4.0" or larger display, which offers a wide variety of advantages such as a roomy keyboard and more space for multitouch finger movement. Also the advantage of a greater viewing area is priceless. It's a trend that is quite positive.

If Apple does not include these new advantages I will be very disappointed. I believe in Apple, hopefully they will keep innovating.

If I can keep my unlimited on AT&T, the answer is absolutely NOT

If I can't keep my unlimited for whatever reason, I absolutely am probably switching

I've been wondering switching my iPhone to the new android phones.

I don't know much more information about the phone, but the real poll question is that...

Are you considering to switch to a different phone on your carrier if the new iPhone "5" does not really "amaze" you, or compare well to the competition.

Written answers below are greatly appreciated.

Apart from 4G I don't need any of that ish

Apple is always ahead of the curve in terms of design, on par with technology, and on par with software ( some things are old but reinvented)

Look at the iPad for example... first one way ahead of everyone, second gen again ahead of the curve

Well, I'm planning on replacing my phone when my contract is up which will be in 2012.

That being said I'm pretty locked into the iphone. With having a ton of iTunes (many DRMed versions) and a ton of iphone apps, Apple would not have to have better features than other phones but would have to destroy what I like about the iphone for me to change.

I'm perfectly happy with my iphone 4. So all they'd have to do to get me to update when my contract is up is offer a phone with even better features that doesn't sacrifice what I like about the phone (like I don't want a bigger phone honestly. And I'd be annoyed if the GPS capability got worse. I doubt the camera will get worse but that would be another one that would have me annoyed. OR have the battery life get a lot worse).

Really, even just offering a good speed boost would probably tempt me enough to buy another one (The two things I'd really like to see improved next time is capability - processor speed/graphics handling, and more storage space - I was actually disappointed with the options this time. But I expect by 2012 we'll have more storage space offered. And if they still can't they better offer an SD slot or someway of expanding memory. Of course I'd definitely love better battery life but it's decent as is. Anything else would just be gravy).

Even if Apple did f*xer up the iphone for 2012, I like my 4 enough I might just not get a new phone (hey, it'll save me money). I mean if I hadn't liked the 4 the 3G I had I still liked enough to keep using (though after having the 4 and the significant speed boost I don't think I could go back now).

I'm a technologically smart consumer. I can build my own PC. I know the difference between 4GB of "memory" and 4GB of HDD space. I can discern the difference in performance between a C2D and an i7. With that said, I don't purchase things based on specs. I purchase electronics based on how well it will suit my needs - knowing what is inside is just a bonus.

I am still using the original iPhone, and I love it. However, I'm just finally running into some things that my original iPhone just can't do, whether by limitation of the OS or by a slower processor that can't keep up. Thus, I'm upgrading this summer. I don't care what has the faster processor or the better "this" or the bigger "that." I care about what runs and does what I want it to. If a <insert device here> has a better processor, that's fine - does it have the App Store? If a <insert another device here> has more memory, that's fine - does it have integrated iTunes?

Some of you guys focus WAY WAY too much on physical specifications and completely lose focus of what a device does or doesn't do for you. If you want to buy the latest and greatest just because of a piece of hardware, be my guest. We'll see you in a few months when you come crawling back to an iPhone with your tail tucked between your legs.

Same here, but when the phone starts to lack functionality of a proper smart phone (specifically notifications), then i'll have to stick with that combo.
Again, i'm willing to wait for iOS 5 and see if it delivers, if not then yeah i'll be jumping ship.

Hardware is nothing without software, and vice versa.

Meet the standards?

iPhone SETS the standards.

Nothing else comes close.

At one point that was true.
But now it's not true, Apple follows the trend when it comes to their iDevices, specifically the iPhone.

This is what Apple has always done well and no one can match it. They give the user a great experience. It works, it works well, it is integrated and slick and hides a lot of crap from the user that they don't care about and in the end feels polished. Don't get me wrong, the Android platform is nice, but it isn't polished. I used to be a spec pig, always going for the best hardware specs out there; but as I got older I realized there is much more to life then always wanting bigger, faster, more powerful. In fact, I realized that I want to USE my phone / computer / iPod, not having to work ON my phone / computer / MP3 player. It should just work. Sure it doesn't have tons of options and bells and whistles but it works and works well. That means I can do my work quicker, faster and with less distractions.

iPhone 5

I would love a 4.5 screen. I use the phone more for searching for data and reading than as a cell phone. Bigger is better in this case.
