4.5" screen is too big. I'd probably just stick with the iPhone 4. Also, I'd rather stay with the iPhone 4 for the life of it's iOS support, than make an Android OS phone my main phone.
To who? No carrier will be offering unlimited data by this summer.
Same here, but when the phone starts to lack functionality of a proper smart phone (specifically notifications), then i'll have to stick with that combo.
Again, i'm willing to wait for iOS 5 and see if it delivers, if not then yeah i'll be jumping ship.
Hardware is nothing without software, and vice versa.
At one point that was true.
But now it's not true, Apple follows the trend when it comes to their iDevices, specifically the iPhone.
Ummm actually the last phone they put out DID set the standard so that paradigm has not changed yet. Not saying it wont change but it hasn't happened yet. People act like iPhone4 is already irrelevant. I beg to differ.
Care to explain how the iPhone 4 set the standard?
I'm talking about setting the standard hardware and software wise.
You dont think it did that? What came out around that time did set the standard then in your opinion? Just curious. I certainly thought when I bought the ip4 that I was getting the baddest assed phone out. Maybe not...
Apart from a few Android ones..
The HTC EVO 4G was launched on the 4th of June, and definitely raised the standard.
For just a run down.. it had 3G/4G capabilities, 1GHz processor, a massive 4.3" screen, 2 cameras. OS wise, i feel it performed better as a 'smart phone' with their multitasking and notification system, apart from the normal Mail and Internet apps. But it was definitely not as fluid and stable as iOS.
iPhone 4? 3G only, 1GHz processor, 1GHz processor, retina display, and 2 cameras. The biggest addition to iPhone 4 Apple emphasized was the retina display, and frankly i'd prefer a bigger screen than a smaller higher resolution one anytime. OS wise, it had multitasking (which was nice), and home-screen wallpapers.. Something Android phones already had for a while. Thus OS wise it didn't really change that much since '07.
The iPhone 4 seemed like it was playing catch up, and still it failed to give 4G capabilities, and hence would render iPhone 4 useless once the LTE networks are widespread. It also failed having a bigger screen, but i guess Apple took a hint, based on the iPhone 5 rumors.
Hope the iPhone 5 will have 4G capabilities.
Yea b/c lte networks will be so wide spread before summer 2012![]()
I don't need to have the so-called "best" or the "best-looking" phone. I didn't get iPhone mainly for looks and more for functions.
Completely missed the point..
Having the option would mean a longer life for your iPhone.
I'm not the type to upgrade to the latest and greatest things, i still use an iPhone 3G.
Agreed.
Even now 9 months later they get compared to the iPhone4. That is what I think makes it the standard.
Edit - fair play on wanting to extend the life but i think i will be perfectly content to use 3g for the next year and few months. Its pretty much fast enough to do anything I want so whats the big deal?

I plan on switching back to iOS this summer with the 5 but only because I like trying different tech and love Apple. Androids great and if you feel like you may want to try the phone you were talking about (OP) id say go for it. Its sad how many people accuse Android of being laggy and behind (mostly because they played with some old junky outdated phone) for me its been great and amazingly fast. By the way quit calling the iPhone the "standard", most companies are taking very different paths and coming up with phones that are incredible
iphone may not have the best specs, but it has the best overall mobile experience. Im sticking with iPhone.
I wonder how much it would really hurt them? I'd guess they have looked at it and decided it's worth the risk.Yeah but I would probably rather have limited data on Verizon than limited data on ATT to be frank. There is no real reason to be loyal to them. If they cut off the unlimited customers then they will leave in droves most likely.

I read a CR study that said only 4% of users use more than 1GB a month. Obviously even lower at 2GB. Now how many of them will actually leave?
Heck, ATT may be happy if the high data users leave.
