I kinda hate iFixit.

We get you disagree with the “repair-ability” of Apple products, and yes, some things shouldn’t be soldered onto motherboards as it is hostile to consumers and a money grab by a company that is at the premium end of the market and doesn’t need to pull such tacky schemes.

But a low repair-ability score on AirPods? This is foolish and annoying. The sealed case and soldering is inherent nature of the product.

I just think iFixit have an anti-Apple agenda which is both philosophical and driven by revenue and page views.

It’s getting to the point where iFixit is going to start complaining that Apple is making a bad decision not making their cables with consumer braidable copper - because they’re not repairable as they are made today. Not a surprise really. They’re not much different than financial analysts who use Apple’s broad appeal/hatred to get clicks and make money.

Well, I can tell where they are getting the whine to go with the cheese... 🤣

Come on people, it's not a big deal that they took the nickname people use for the towers (which is more appropriate for the old Pro) and did a silly thing. The video is pretty lame overall, that's the bigger issue.

You think they have an anti-Apple agenda? Based on what? Apple products (like all products they teardown) that are easily DIY repairable get good repairability scores. iPhone for example almost always get good scores. Products that aren't DIY repairable get bad repairability scores. Pretty simple concept that has no bias for or against Apple. In fact Apple fairs pretty good when compared with their contemporaries.

So did that void the warranty on the MP?

Customer: "No really, I have no idea how that cheese got in there."
Apple CSR: "Dude, you need to use cheddar, not brie."

iFixit videos have become click bait. For the first minute or so, they had audio issues. There was no point to this video but to show that disorganization and an anti-Apple bias leads to a bad video.

I skipped around because it was too too painful to try to watch the entire thing. I'll never get back the 3-4 minutes I spent on what I did watch.

iFixIt, time to fix yourself! That was really really bad!

Mark

IMHO, it's a stretch find 30 seconds worth watching the video. Maybe the best part was the first minute where there was no audio.

But that "cheese grater"-thing is already somewhat - you know.
I really these teardowns of iFixit, because they do indeed contain valuable information for me, if it comes to KNOW the interiors of an Apple product. THIS teardown is a waste of time.

The cheese grater-joke is way out of everything. Do some valuable teardown please. Thank you.

Repair site iFixit managed to get a Mac Pro on Friday, and has kicked off its traditional teardown with an uncasing and first impressions video.

The video shows the process of removing the Mac Pro's aluminum case and it takes a look at some of the internal components.

For those interested in a quick look at what's inside the Mac Pro and how the different components work, the video is worth checking out.

iFixit plans to share a full Mac Pro teardown next week, likely on Tuesday.

As soon as they brought the cheese out - I felt for some reason really offended? That was very poor taste and unprofessional! I have a really good sense of humor but - that was wrong!

The overall mood of this thread:

:D :D iFixit triggered the heck out of MR commenters. :D :D
Everything about this video is pure awful. The lighting, the audio issues at the beginning, how completely uninformative it is, them thinking it would be clever or funny to actually grate cheese on it. MacRumors is just calling like it is: bad.

Skip to 13:40 for the cheese.

As awful as that is, i think its the best part of this 20 min video.

Their videos have been bad lately - amateur hour on parade. I just unsubscribed to their channel.

I loved the vid! And the two of them are so adorable. And smart.

Nice to have some levity from time to time. Those that find it offensive need to go out and find some joy.

that thumbnail is viscerally disgusting and displeasing on many levels for me. This may be a bit melodramatic, but that's a really disrespectful thing to do
its super cringe but they are trying to prolong the drama just like Unbox Therapy always does

If I go to Apple's landing page, I miss all the moaning and whining on MR about cheese on a computer. One would be forgiven for thinking iFixit was clubbing baby seals. I mean we got somebody claiming a computer was disrespected and another trotting out the feed the poor tired trope. People are unnecessarily up in their feels.

The worst is when people tell others how to feel.
