It makes me laugh to read all the comments about the video being uninformative and a waste of money. This was an informal first look and not a teardown video. They will still be making a teardown video so virtually no money wasted other than 20-30 minutes of 3 or 4 of their employees time and a 1/4 of a block of cheese. It was just meant as a lighthearted bonus video and that's all it was. Now if they did this in the teardown then they are having issues.

Next thing they’ll be dropping new devices to see if they break, like all those attention-seeking morons who have no respect for the time, money, human effort & precious resources it took to create them.

iFixit. Go away.

or immersing the Mac Pro in water.

They got me to click through to the video with that gag. I get it. I wonder how hard it was to clean.

Who said that they cleaned it.

They probably just boxed it up and sent it back under Apple's 14 day return policy :).

I don’t think they care if you take it seriously or not.

Their branding team has clearly gone on a permanent vacation. iFixit is about offering a service to people in the form of repair guides, access to parts, etc. There's a certain amount of gravitas that should go along with that. Creating videos with 3 minutes dedicated to wiping cheese on a piece of equipment makes it feel like they're losing focus on why they became popular. It's like they think they want to be a social media influencer all of a sudden.

This has high school production quality written all over it. Who doesn't do a sound check before producing a video?!

It is funny and that you take such offense to it speaks volumes.

What about my post makes it seem like I take offense? Why would I take offense to something I didn’t help to create?

The jokes just aren’t funny. Point blank period Lol. How is that even a joke? So what if it looks like a cheese grater.

Did anyone else cringe at them handling the internal components, on a carpet floor no less, of what is most likely the most expensive computer they have ever laid hands on without a anti static strap?

iFixit has a weird vibe in print. I haven’t seen any of their videos (including this one) but when you read their teardowns, whoever writes them makes really dumb comments that you can tell he or she thought were really funny, but they’re not. To me, it seems like an editor told them, “it’s too dry, punch it up” and that’s what they came up with.

It reminds me of release notes updates for some apps. Trying to create a “personality” for the company. It’s really cringey sometimes.

It’s your opinion that it’s funny.

Yooo... SUPER cringy. Sometimes I’m just like... Why? What was the point of that Lol.

I have a sense of humor. I love dark jokes, jokes that aren’t politically correct etc, but some things are just plain cornyyy.

This is the sort of cringeworthy video you would expect to find on Leo Laporte's lowbrow Twit network. Hopefully iFixit intended for this to be merely a joke, and they'll release a follow-up video that lives up to their usual higher standards.

Repair site iFixit managed to get a Mac Pro on Friday, and has kicked off its traditional teardown with an uncasing and first impressions video.

The video shows the process of removing the Mac Pro's aluminum case and it takes a look at some of the internal components.

For those interested in a quick look at what's inside the Mac Pro and how the different components work, the video is worth checking out.

iFixit plans to share a full Mac Pro teardown next week, likely on Tuesday.

Performing this on a static prone carpet was a nice touch.

I dunno. I guess it's different for everyone. I'd simply call it being a little goofy and feeling/expressing a little joy. And not giving two trucks what others think. LIfe's much to short to take everything seriously.
