It took Apple three years to stop selling flagship MacBook Pros with a flawed keyboard and cooling system, four years to update the Mac mini, and six years to update the Mac Pro to a model with a price tag that is rudely shoving a lot of long-time tower Mac users out the door. On top of that, Apple discontinued the AirPort line (which many members of this forum have praised, myself included), has yet to introduce an Apple-branded and consumer-focused 5K display, and ruined MacOS Server. So of course people, long-time Mac users especially, are going to complain about the direction of the company. It has changed, with consequences that are not hypothetical, not made-up - they are real.

Well if after all that there's really no reason to continue complaining. People should just move on to other brands. Complaining about every single thing a company does over and over is childish on so many levels. There comes a point where people should just move onto something else.....unless people find some sick pleasure of constantly berating Apple. One thing I noticed about MR is that members here think they are Apple's only customers and if MR members don't like what Apple is doing then nobody else should.

I was gonna watch the video, but I found it more entertaining to watch Apple fans get triggered when someone slides food across an inanimate object with an Apple logo and then others try to defend or argue against it's "funny factor".

This, THIS is what keeps me coming back here. The conflict. And those so entrenched into the (Apple) system that they'd give their lives to protect it, because they find other's lack of faith (in Apple) disturbing.

Compared to the trashcan it is a big improvement. Apple should be able to lower the base price by adding 2200-series Xeon which just came out in Q4.

If I go to Apple's landing page, I miss all the moaning and whining on MR about cheese on a computer. One would be forgiven for thinking iFixit was clubbing baby seals. I mean we got somebody claiming a computer was disrespected and another trotting out the feed the poor tired trope. People are unnecessarily up in their feels.
People, in general, get a reaction whenever food gets wasted publicly and freely.

I was surprised at the poor quality of the video production, content quality and lack of valuable insight like many others here.

From my past perspectives the Tear-down photography and presentation quality has been high from iFixit, with a tone that sounds like they know what they’re talking about.

This video is a huge departure of what people have come to expect from the brand. There is having fun while maintaining production quality, then there is having fun while wasting people’s time. The latter is not well received and will annoy people expecting that same high quality content they’ve become accustomed to with the iFixit brand. They’re still running ads and making money from this, leading many viewers to feel robbed - robbed of their time and expectations.

I feel iFixit has the nerdiest cute girls on the planet. Not gonna lie, I’m having a crush on the girl who did the cheese thing. She’s so cuddly.

that thumbnail is viscerally disgusting and displeasing on many levels for me. This may be a bit melodramatic, but that's a really disrespectful thing to do
What a stupid stunt. Makes the woman doing the cheese grating come across as acting like a child and no owner of a Mac Pro would do the act.

Repair site iFixit managed to get a Mac Pro on Friday, and has kicked off its traditional teardown with an uncasing and first impressions video.

The video shows the process of removing the Mac Pro's aluminum case and it takes a look at some of the internal components.

For those interested in a quick look at what's inside the Mac Pro and how the different components work, the video is worth checking out.

iFixit plans to share a full Mac Pro teardown next week, likely on Tuesday.

iFixit: Really, really, really bad and stupid. Your repair guides are great, but this?

iJustine is better all around. Has fun and doesn't grate cheese.

The video makes a good case for the value of editing. ;)

That aside, whoever in management approved it for release needs their head examined. The presenters are an easy scapegoat but, seriously, what do you do if your boss tells you to make a 20 minute video without giving anything away (gotta keep those juicy details for next weeks episode)?

This is what you get: Your brand trashed.

Poor judgement iFixit management.

Anyone 'like' this video? There are 57 unnecessary and superfluous and annoying likes spread throughout the thing and there'd be more of them but we were spared from hearing them due to audio missing at the front end of the piece. (May have missed a few from watching it 1.5x true speed.)

Here's a tip from a shooter & editor frequently tasked to REMOVE / MASK them from footage to keep the subject from sounding a fool in front of the camera. (It's painful but relatively easy to do since the lips or jaw don't generally move when uttered.) If you wouldn't take time to spell it out and include it in a letter or an email it has no place in your speech pattern. This simple rule will make you appear at least twice as smart as you actually are.

(Here's what they look like if written in a transcript: like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like.)

I spent three minutes trying to get the audio to work. (The video starts silent.)
Me too.
they should learn how to actually use that Mac Pro to make good videos with audio in sync, instead of dumb jokes about cheese.

I kinda hate iFixit.

We get you disagree with the “repair-ability” of Apple products, and yes, some things shouldn’t be soldered onto motherboards as it is hostile to consumers and a money grab by a company that is at the premium end of the market and doesn’t need to pull such tacky schemes.

But a low repair-ability score on AirPods? This is foolish and annoying. The sealed case and soldering is inherent nature of the product.

I just think iFixit have an anti-Apple agenda which is both philosophical and driven by revenue and page views.
The anti-Apple agenda is driven by click baiting on YouTube, which is the primary reason for those guys and Jerry to exist on the web.

its super cringe but they are trying to prolong the drama just like Unbox Therapy always does
To be like Unbox Therapy is the right insult they deserve, for this video.
totally unnecessary.

“Anyone like this video?”

I loved it!

But then I don’t take myself so deadly seriously. And understand its intent and playfulness.

It’s not for sclerotic and calcified viewers who have no joy left in their heart or life.

Happy Holidays!

This has high school production quality written all over it. Who doesn't do a sound check before producing a video?!
That’s because they used the Mac Pro as a cheese grater instead of run Final cut on it.

iJustine's Mac Pro unboxing. That one is a prefect example of "so bad that it's good". ;) But this video just seems like a waste of time.
On a technical point of view, iJustine video was on a totally different level. She knows how to use a Mac Pro and Final Cut.

I can understand a website like Linustechtips or the android subreddit being biased towards Apple because they wouldn’t understand Apple as well. So if they think that Apple is turning into a services company, or is removing the headphone jack to sell more adapters and wireless earbuds, or some other misguided notion based on a fundamental lack of understanding as to how Apple’s design-led corporate culture works, I won’t hold it against them.

I would expect the people at macrumours to be more enlightened in this regard. After all, many people here claim to be long-time Apple fanboys who have been using their products the longest, and so you would expect them to understand Apple the best, yet the picture I am seeing is the exact opposite.

Dismaying to say the very least.
It’s not hard for somebody to write “I’m a long time Apple user...” even if you are not.

Wow, well said. I like your perspective sir.

Kinda getting tired of how people on the web always trash Apple and disrespect their products just because it's Apple, like what iFixit did with that cheese. Very stupid video, very rude and frankly it's unprofessional of them.
The Mac Pro has a very well designed cooling system. It's one thing to call it cheese grater which is also stupid, but to actually great cheese on Apple's $6000+ workstation is disgusting. Shame on you iFixit. I thought you were better than that. How embarrassing of them.
I agree to a degree. I was researching something yesterday however and came across a video on why Apple laptops (and iMacs for that matter) underperform given their claimed specs and it was explained very well that deliberate design decisions were made that would result in severe thermal throttling. The presenter then asked, why doesn't Apple just accept the laws of physics and not sell overpowered hardware in its thin form factor cases, knowing full well that a lower powered system will perform exactly the same because of thermal issues. Of course the reason for it is the very reason Apple makes massive profits: Marketing.

In other words, Apple is telling you something when they use the term "Magic". Once you discover what's behind the so-called "magic" it becomes mundane. A humorous unboxing of the Mac Pro suddenly removes some of the aura of the magical price tag.

All credit to the engineers for the design of the Mac Pro. They have gone the extra mile to make sure everything is quality, but any attention is good attention for the marketers so I would hardly be going all-out bleeding heart for them just because of this video.

Envy is the common theme by those who can't stand Apple's consistent success.
