Lol bigger ram in this case most definitely doesn’t mean better.

To reconcile that discussion: more RAM doesn't mean better, but 6Gb pales 2Gb.
Arrggh, makes you wonder what lunatic at Apple decides to couple a top notch CPU with avge RAM config/specs (LPDDR4 instead of LPDDR4X)

The SIM tray looks huuuuge. I think it's time Apple starts pushing electronic SIMs as in Apple Watch.

Maybe because

«Samsung Semiconductor has proposed an LPDDR4 variant that it calls LPDDR4X.[19]:11 This is identical to LPDDR4, except that additional power is saved by reducing the I/O voltage (Vddq) to 0.6 V rather than 1.1 V.»

So it's the same identical ram, with the same performance, but saves a bit more power. I think everyone can easily see how that's an advantage when, because of the OS you run, you have to pack 6GB of ram on a mobile device, automatically increasing ram power consumption 2x or 3x compared to your main competitor. Probably not the same advantage when you can do with 2 or 3GB of ram.

So you are basically saying that iPhone 8 was not ready for release.
Outstanding ram management? You are out of your mind. iPhone has 3 gb and note has 6 gb. We already know how android performs with 3. Whatever hiccups iPhone has right now are due to 11.0 being poorly optimised.

I prefer smarter ram managment than cramming more ram cause you can. Not that i wouldn't mind all the ram i can get though ;)

Power efficient?

Yeah! It probably is extremely power efficient when the screen is off.

This was my upgrade year and here I have the same bs of pipeline friendly Apple! Smaller battery again, really? It will quickly evaporate on LTE literally in minutes. Open up camera app and shoot a 10 minute video, 10-15 percent gone. Half an hour long voip video chat, 40 percent! I've seen this movie before. No UI disaster X, no 6sss! I'll change the battery and carry on with my life. Not a single penny for Apple this season.

Wow, Qualcomm instead of Intel. That's a positive surprise. Just a little bit of nitpicking that they could have put latest and greatest X20 instead X16, but that's fine...

Edit: Looks like X20 is announced, but maybe not yet available, so X16 is the best. Enjoy.

I remember half of the phones had qualcomm and half had intel. What if this phone is from the qualcomm half this year?

Apple are not the only company guilty of this, but are probably the worst. Batteries have a limited amount of charging cycles and if lots of users are needing to recharge their phone during the day, it will lead to phones batteries degrading sooner. Driving some of these users to buy a new phone sooner. Also the charging cables are then stresses beyond their insertion/removal specifications leading to cable malfunctions. Leading to increased revenues when the cable is proprietary. Think of the number of users posting about poor battery performance with phones less than two years old, or complaining about damaged cables.

No, I’m saying exactly what I had written. You clearly lack knowledge to understand what you are talking about.

I was commenting on you saying
"Whatever hiccups iPhone has right now are due to 11.0 being poorly optimised".

Poorly optimised for the release of a new product dependant on it. Apple release a product that is POORLY optimised!

Wow that SIM card slot looks enormous nowadays. How has Apple not pushed to remove it entirely and go the 'digital SIM' route?

It would save so much space inside the device and allow them to make the device even more water tight as there'd be no need for a SIM slot.
Apple is a global company. Themselves, and their customers travel and the need to swap SIM cards.

Since the iPhone has DDR4 Ram, does that mean the MacBook Pro gets it next? :po_O
iPhone uses LPDDR4, luckily Intel isn’t involved.

re: MacBooks, the problem is that Intel’s Kaby Lake, KBL Refresh and Coffee Lake don’t support LPDDR4. Not until Cannon Lake will LPDDR4 be supported, and that’s for the 4.5W TDP CPUs in the 12” MacBook. Ice Lake will bring 32GB support to the CPUs for the MacBook Pro.

So probably 2019 for 32GB–unless Ming-Chi Kuo’s MBP using DDR4 (power hungry desktop class memory) is real. Which is possible but not likely, since it would require a re-design for a new memory controller, and cause a hit to battery run times as well as drastically shorter standby times.

You have it backwards.

Apple should release the new iOS version a few months before the new phone comes out. They should change their release cycle. Every year it’s the same thing. Buy the new iPhone, suffer through some minor hiccups with the software.

If 11.2 was released at the same time as the iPhone 8, this wouldn’t be an issue.
