No, because anybody knows what glass does (and there are a few out there at Youtube, if you're unaware)
Sadly, the designers at Apple never materialised any of 100.000 better materials (composites, carbon derivates, nanomaterials, polymers etc. etc. - that they spend their billions on patents on)
Because hey - glass repairs mean a guaranteed stream of Store visitors every minute
(and Tim is thrilled to see us brainless duds ehhh...customers running in...)

You do realize you're just assuming all of this, right?

I am wondering why they are not using LPDDR4X ram like the Samsung devices (note 8) instead of the less power efficient and older LPDDR4. Looks like they once again took the cheaper route.
Arrggh, makes you wonder what lunatic at Apple decides to couple a top notch CPU with avge RAM config/specs (LPDDR4 instead of LPDDR4X)
I'm confused. The iFixit website says:
Apple 339S00434 A11 Bionic SoC layered over SK Hynix H9HKNNNBRMMUUR 2 GB LPDDR4x RAM

...or am I interpreting something incorrectly?

Fair point. I consulted:
https://www.macrumors.com/2017/09/22/ifixit-teardown-iphone-8/
http://macdailynews.com/2017/09/22/iphone-8-teardown-confirms-apples-secret-specs/
that do specify LPDDR4
(supported by:
https://www.eetimes.com/document.asp?doc_id=1332337
http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/News/Details.aspx?NewsId=58334 )
However, these might be websites propagating each others' incorrect Hynix classification.
I tend to believe iFixit more; it is their core business.
Apologies for my part in the confusion

With an eSIM working, you wouldn't need to 'Swap in' any physical chip in the first place. Just set the phone up with the Carrier's DB. So what is the disadvantage??
My carrier charges for that service.

Swapping a sim is free
