So... if I were to order a new Mac this very moment via Apple's Online store... would iLife '09 be preinstalled?

They usually "drop" a copy into the box of computers that already have the older version installed. However, with the BS that Apple has been pulling lately charging people $10 for 09 if they recently purchased their computer, I would call Apple and order over the phone and make sure that the person on the other end is certain that 09 is included with your purchase.

Cheers.

So I just installed ILIFE and the FACES part of the application is going through all my pictures and scanning the faces on the initial start up. I can't find a way to get around it. ughh....I guess I have to wait until it's done scanning every face in every picture before I can even use the FACES features.

Places is awesome. I can enter my home address where it says ENTER NEW PLACE and it'll track by address and not just by city so it can be even more specific. AWESOME!!! I love it so far.....just waiting for FACES to finish booting up.

That's kind of the point of Faces, so of course it would have to scan your library

Bytes... megabytes... The point is that they're bytes not bits.
Actually, it is bits per second. Get over it. Accept it. Embrace it. ;)

Anyhow, bytes are not always 8 bits. Byte size can vary. These days, it is generally accepted that a byte is 8 bits and a nibble is 4 bits but that has not always been the case.

For those who have downloaded iLife from the Apple site, how long did it take you.

For those who have purchased iLife, any regrets? Just wondering as it seems like a great upgrade. Looking forward to purchasing my copy next week at the Apple Store.

You can not download iLife from the website, only iWork can be downloaded.

The Mac Box Set is also now available. Status shows shipping within 24 hours from the online Apple Store. Amazon is offering it for only $149.

I got mine today, didn't even realize Apple was sending me it. They did end up sending it though, because of the inconvenience of the faults MBP I got.... still have problems :(

My shipment tracking now says "Shipment exception — delay beyond our control." The estimated delivery date shows as Jan 27, 2009 by 4:30 PM. Would this estimated delivery date be correct even though my package is just sitting around?

For anyone who ordered via the $9.95 up to date upgrade, my status just changed from "ships Feb 2nd" to "shipped via USPS" a few minutes ago (about 2:00 EST). I guess no uprgraded priority shipping for us, but hey, for 10 bucks not bad...

iLife09 Screen Shots

Another update: I just received my iLife09 Family Pack.

I love it when Apple delivers earlier than expected. :)

Now lets hope my new 17 MBP arrives early also.

Edit* screen shots were requested.

This makes me chuckle. I thought I would take a look at 'The Pirate Bay'. The iLife 09 torrent has 2 seeders and 15808 leechers. Its going to take them an age to get almost 5GB of data.

15,808 * $79 = $1,248,832 Dollars Lost

wholyyyyy

Can you explain further this up to date offer as it seems it's not listed here in the UK i bought an imac in late december and apple want 69 UKP for me to upgrade which i think is a bit cheeky IMHO. i would have thought at least a months grace would be more in keeping with previous software upgrades they have offered.

Thanks in advance

I think the cutoff for the US anyway is any Mac purchased after January 6th until sometime in March if I'm not mistaken. It is sort of bogus but there's got to be a cutoff sometime and someone is always going to get left on the "other side" of it.

Yep, that's exactly it. To qualify for it, you had to purchase a mac on or after the date the new product was announced (in this case, January 6th). It is a bit stingy.
