Question about family pack

So my Mom picked up the "Family Pack" from Best Buy this afternoon for the $99.99.....however, Best Buy mislabeled the box. The box she got is the standard version, not the family pack.

Any reason we should return it to Best Buy to get the actual Family Pack? Considering she did spend the Family Pack price?

I just received an email update my box set that was supposed to ship out this friday was bumped up and shipped via FedEx today and is expected to be delivered tomorrow, can't wait to get it.

Oh how I wish we had an Apple store in this godforsaken country.
It sucks only having Apple certified retailers.
Especially when it'll take two weeks plus for them to get it in stock.

iWork '09 Trial included in box

Going through box contents reveals installation guide, feature pamphlet and iWork Trial disc. Nice!:D

As soon, as I opened iPhoto it started running through the recognition stuff.. 24 minutes to go!

Thanks Sky Blue... looks like i had to close and reopen for it to start the recognition process.

thanks for the reply.

since no serial numbers or anything, there's no practical reason to take it back. the only thing would be if you are having an issue that affects multiple computers and called into tech support, they might ask . . .

Got home from work, saw this thread, ordered from BB for in-store pickup and had it in hand (including 10 min. drive time) in about 25 minutes total :)

Very quick and painless, but I was ready to give'm a sob story if need be!!

my local best buy is already out of stock.

iLife09 vs Soon 2 B Released OS

I migrated to Apple almost 2 years ago and haven't looked back. My question is this; With the new OS looming on the horizon, will it include the new iLife, iWorks etc? Asking because I'd like to get the new iLife in particular, just wondering if money best spent by waiting on new OS. Thanks in advance.:)

iLife is not included with a new OS, only with a new computer.
At least, that's how it's been in the past and I imagine it will continue that way.
However, they do offer a box set including the OS, iLife, and iWork that will save you quite a bit of money.

How's it going does anyone know if this is available from the Apple retail store on George St in Sydney, Australia

Yes, many get less than what's advertised, but not *one tenth* of what's advertised.
You might be surprised then. ;)

They're not on bps to keep everyone on the same sheet. For the longest time, even when the internet was in it's infancy, the megabyte has been the standard for measuring files.

The ISPs choose to use Mbps over MBps because 99% of people don't know the difference. The average Joe isn't going to know that Mbps is actually 8 times slower than what he thinks he's getting.
Actually, it all started out with Baud rates many years ago. This evolved into the more commonly known bits per second.

And in the early days, files were in measured in bytes and kilobytes. :)

As for advertised speeds, you might find this link interesting. All speeds are in bits per second.

can't wait to start using faces
Faces does sound interesting.

I wonder how the flow on iMovie is compared to iLife 08. I hope that it is more like iMovie HD.

For me, iLife is a no brainer update. iLife keeps getting better and better.

Anyone else notice that Best Buy doesn't have it listed anymore on their site? I was checking it out on their early to see if they had it at my store and I went back to the site just then and its not on their anymore. Saving to put it back on their tomorrow?

No. iLife, iWork, and OSX are all separate products and pretty much have always have been sold that way.

Macs come with iLife for free, but OSX is not advertised as having any of the components of iLife or iWork. The only way iLife gets advertised that way is if you buy the hardware.

The only way to get all three products is to get the Mac Box which bundles all three products (probably on three separate discs) and this only applies with Leopard. There is no word on weather or not this will happen with Snow Leopard.
