Mine says that it ships on Feb 2nd and will arrive Feb 3rd.

I ordered it the day it was made available.

Same, though it used to say arrive on Feb 6th. It was upgraded to priority shipping without me knowing (though who am I to complain :p) so thats probably why it says Feb 3rd and not Feb 6th. But I hope it comes ASAP.

I got my first guitar a couple months ago and gave up learning after trying a couple podcasts. Seeing the videos on GarageBand have made me want to learn the guitar again, and I hope to learn enough to learn John Fogerty songs.

Edit: I don't remember it saying "Prepared for shipment before" but it says that now, though still Feb 2nd

Finally after 24 hours of preparing for shipment my order is being delivered by 27th January by TNT UK. For the record I placed my order immediately after macworld keynote though am wondering why i ordered the family pack for my 3 macs when they don't have serial numbers? Would the single ilife '09 been able to be used on all my macs??

Rob

You are confusing iWork(no serial required) with iLife. Two different animals.

Mine's also shipped as well

No... All they said was that iLife didn't require a serial, which it indeed doesn't.

You *can* install iLife on as many computers as you want, but this is against the license Apple sells you when you buy the single- or family-pack.

You *can* also "borrow" a friend's copy, download a torrent, etc. but Apple is counting on your honesty.

I just came home from Menlo Mall and they didnt have it in stock yet.

They told me probably this week from what they heard.

Its cool as I just logged on here to post that and sure enough they are shipping.

Nice.

Serial Number question

I read on anther Macrumors post that the new Ilife 09 will not have a serial number attached to it and you can put it on many computers. Does this mean there will hundreds of copies of Ilife on craigs list? How is this supposed to work with out serial numbers?

iLife has never had serial numbers. Doing what you said would be illegal.

It raises an interesting question though. How does Apple know if I buy a single license for my MBP and put it on a friend's iMac? Are we on our best behavior or does it have some type of method to check these kind of things? I believe the retail version isn't tied to a specific type of hardware...

Note: I'm not saying I'll do this. I'm actually quite happy with the '08 version. I'm just wondering.

There probably will be. This year, the torrent downloads will probably be doubled compared to the iLife '08 torrents.

Also, I'm sure someone will decide to add another trojan like the one found on the iWork '09 torrent.

Serial numbers have never worked. Pirates have always found a way. The only people they inconvenience are the paying customers.

Also, every mac comes with iLife, so there is less for Apple to worry about.

I ordered a macbook 2.4 last night, not realising, any chance it'll be installed on it?

It's no biggie, not like i'm really going to need iPhoto immediately and i'm prepared to stump up £7.95, but it would be nice if they put it on!

Kinda strange....

I ordered mine the moment it was possible and it says "Preparing for shipment", but ETA is February 4th.

Now, I just (=literally a couple of minutes ago...) also ordered the Mac Box set, and this says ETA February 3rd..?
(for those who can read Dutch, see pic below)

Seems the latter order gets to me before the former :p

But, I assume that my iLife will be delivered sooner, just not an updated ETA ATM....

Woot, I'm really excited about iPhoto '09 but don't think I will be buying this until Snow Leopard comes out.

Same here. Hopefully they will have a boxed set with Snow L.
iLife hasn't been anything worth updating for the past few years, though I have. The sales points of why one should update haven't gripped me at all this time around.

annoyingly I want a new mac mini when they come out, so it'll have ilife'09, but I won't use it on the mini, I want it on my MBP. I'd prefer not to buy it.

Is there a way for me to use a pack-in version (eg with a newly bought computer), on a different computer? I wouldn't use it on both at the same time, the mini would be for HTPC duties only.
