Why is everyone getting theirselves all worked up...it was the ad firm that made the images not microsoft. I guess you guys need something to get all worked up over.

I think it's validated when Microsoft and Crispin Porter + Bogusky are quickly and quietly erasing the evidence that their advertisers "are Mac."

I mean, the advertisers actually wrote in their job listings "Did you wise up, get a Mac and..." You don't think that's the least bit ironic?

Computerworld reports that several of the "I'm a PC" ad images that were posted to Microsoft's website were created on a Mac.
Quote:
Four of the images that Microsoft made available on its PressPass site today display the designation "Adobe Photoshop C3 Macintosh" when their file properties are examined. The images appear to be frames from the television ads that Microsoft will launch later today.
The images likely originated from the Crispin Porter + Bogusky ad agency that is responsible for the campaign.

doesn't really mean anything. Apple (and different flavors of Linux/Unix) are usually the industry standard in this type of work and MS knows it. The images would have been identical had they been made on a Windows computer.

Exactly, but they choose Macs.

It's like campaigning for one presidential candidate then voting for the other.*

No, it really doesn't matter and was probably expected, which is why people took the time to check in the first place.

*Not that I think computer choice is nearly as important as a presidential election...

You're acting like they chose Apple computers, on the fly, over Microsoft for this one campaign. The images were created on Mac OSX because all of their images are, regardless of who is paying them. It has likely always been their platform of choice as, like I said, it is the industry standard. Microsoft is well aware of this - they're just not as insecure about it as the Mac community.

haha

if the windows ads were made on mac then i wonder if the 'get a mac' ads were made on windows? i doubt it.

it is funny though. Microsoft is advertising Windows as the operating system that can do everything, except make adverts...

You keep avoiding the part in their job listing where they say, "Did you wise up, get a Mac and a lifetime subscription to Adobe..."

Did you dream of harnessing telekinetic power as a child? Did you stare at your Transformers lunchbox for hours on end in a desperate attempt to invoke even the slightest fit of movement? Did you wise up, get a Mac and a lifetime subscription to Adobe, and send your lunchbox on an exploratory mission to the Martian poles or the strip club down the street? If so, do you think you could send us your portfolio?

In its surrounding context, that statement has nothing to do with industry standards - it has to do with Macs being the wise choice.

Therefore they're advertising a product that they claim to be the "unwise" choice - that is until Microsoft put money in front of them.

Now the wise choice is a "water-cooled PC tricked out with Vista." Come on...

The situation really isn't worth debating, but I do feel that you're overlooking CP+B's clear bias towards Macs before Microsoft's money came along.

Yeah, right. So that is why MICROSOFT changed them, right? Because they are so secure. Just checking.

Yes, they're not insecure enough to, say, hire a John Hodgeman look-a-like!

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

You sir need to go see the Wizard for some LOGIC skills! :D

I work for a design agency in the Uk, and we do loads of work for Microsoft and YES it's all done on a Mac.

Microsoft due it it's size has many creative agencies working for them, and I expect most, if not all of them use Mac's.

I expect when Microsoft choses their agencies, it's on the strength of their work, and not what platform they use.

I still think it's funny that the Xbox was designed on a Power Mac!!!

Made on a Mac

PCs are rubbish

Says it all really. PCs will never be 'cool' or exciting. Windows is also so full of flaws and bugs, pop up annoying messages blah de blah. Gates has retired because he loves macs now and has an imac.

People only use the best tool available for the job, it happens to be a mac in some cases, sometimes it's not, that simple.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5F136 Safari/525.20)

Well isn't this interesting. They are pushing a product with the competiton's OS and software.

First thing that came to mind when I saw the new... well the new new... ok the most resent commercials for PCs was that now it is so easy to create a commercial where that are many PC running off a cliff... onto a wall.... what ever, then there is a couple of macs looks from their windows... sky scraper and just doing about their business... I thing Bill should fire these guys again! :D

Lol. I find this pretty funny!

And yet PCs are in use by 98% of the world.

That is patently untrue. Computers aren't used by 98% of the world. And even the statistic you are failing to quote correctly isn't true.

Microsoft is well aware of this - they're just not as insecure about it as the Mac community.

 I don't know if you're projecting or something, but there's nothing insecure about pointing out an embarrassing example of irony.

So, this whole "targeting Apple" thing Microsoft has going on demonstrates.... ah yes, insecurity. They must actually feel their 80%+ monopoly is in some kind of danger.
